Proposing a Novel MCDA Technique Based on Dispersion and Regression Analysis Susmita Bandyopadhyay, Indraneel Mandal 2024 2nd International Conference on Computer Communication and Control Ic4 2024, 2024 The basic contribution of this article is to proposing a simple statistical dispersion based Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis (MCDA) technique which is not seen in the existing literature till date. Additionally, a new method of establishing relationships among the criteria is also being proposed. Instead of pairwise comparison to establish relationships, simple Regression Analysis is being applied. To determine weights of criteria, preferences of decision makers as well as established relationships have been used. The proposed technique is compared with TOPSIS MCDA technique in order to show that the proposed technique is providing valid results. The comparison between the proposed technique and TOPSIS has been performed based on a supplier ranking scenario taken from real-world business case to show that the proposed technique can easily be applied to the real-life scenarios of decision making. The comparison has been done both numerically and graphically.

Includes a number of relevant case studies along with a dedicated chapter on software. This book is aimed at researchers and graduate students in information systems, data analytics, operation research, including management and computer science areas.
Comparison among some multi-criteria decision analysis techniques Susmita Bandyopadhyay Proceedings of the 2020 International Conference on Computing Communication and Security Icccs 2020, 2020 In an endeavor to compare among various Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis Techniques (MCDA), this paper is an initiative to compare among three simple but well-practiced MCDA techniques known as TOPSIS (Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution), MAUT (Multi-Attribute Utility Theory) and MACBETH (Measuring Attractiveness by a Categorical Based Evaluation Technique). These three particular techniques are chosen because of some common characteristics among these methods in terms of their types. The method of comparison involves the graphical comparison, complexity analysis and a new method as proposed in this paper. The proposed new method is presented at the end of this paper in the last section. Among these three techniques, TOPSIS and MACBETH have seen significant number of published articles, higher than that for MAUT. However there are numerous other MCDA techniques which will also be compared in near future. The current comparison as presented in this paper indicates superiority of TOPSIS over the other two techniques, MAUT and MACBETH.
Solving Bi-Objective Stage Shop Scheduling Problem by Flower Pollination Algorithm with Fuzzy Orientation Susmita Bandyopadhyay, Indraneel Mandal Proceedings of the 5th International Conference on Inventive Computation Technologies Icict 2020, 2020 Stage shop scheduling is a type of scheduling problem in manufacturing in which the operations to be performed on a set of jobs is divided into stages based on the type of operations. The stages are executed sequentially whereas the operations in each stage are executed in no particular order. A bi-objective stage shop scheduling problem has been proposed in this paper. There are two objectives as considered in this paper minimization of makespan and minimization the total completion times of a set of jobs on a manufacturing floor. The paper considers uniform fuzzy processing times for the jobs. The problem is basically solved by Multi-Objective version of Flower Pollination Algorithm (MOFPA). Flower pollination can be either global pollination (biotic pollination) or local pollination (abiotic). This paper applies both the types of pollination based on some probability values. Experimentation shows that MOFPA performs almost to an equivalent extent to the famous Nondominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm – II (NSGA-II). The algorithm has been compared with NSGA-II since NSGA-II is one of the most frequently applied multi-objective methods as evident from the existing literature.
Solving Multi-Objective Manufacturing Problem with Demand Leakage, Uniform Fuzzy Demand and Sales Susmita Bandyopadhyay, Indraneel Mandal 3rd International Conference on Electrical Electronics Communication Computer Technologies and Optimization Techniques Iceeccot 2018, 2018 This paper focuses on a manufacturing system which produces a product in two grades - grade I and grade II. The manufacturing system under consideration also results into defective items which are further repaired and are sold in the secondary market. The price of grade I product is higher than that for grade II product because of the quality difference. The paper also considers demand leakage for the product of grade I which means that the some of the customers willing to pay for product of grade I, actually purchases product of grade II. The number of unsold units for both the grades of the product is sold at a giveaway price. Both the demand and sale are assumed to be fuzzy in nature. The purpose of this research study is to study the behavior of the system under demand leakage and other mentioned conditions. For this purpose, a three-objective problem has been proposed and Nondominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm - II (NSGA-II) has been applied to study the behavior of the proposed problem. The joint variations of all the objective values have been observed and analyzed. A numerical example shows the applicability of the proposed solution methodology.
