  • Energy-Efficient Control Methods in Heterogeneous Wireless Sensor Networks: A Survey
Purushothaman Ramaiah, Ramakrishnan Narmadha, Sureshraj Se Pa
    Engineering Proceedings, 2023
Due to the advancement of sensor gadgets and telecommunication technology, wireless sensor networks (WSNs) have drawn a lot of observations in the recent period. Inaccessible terrain, disaster zones, or polluted conditions are typically where they are deployed at random, making battery replacement or recharge challenging or even impossible. Network lifespan is therefore extremely important to a WSN. An abundance of power-effective strategies in a diverse wireless sensor network are surveyed in this paper. We first provide an overview of the fundamental network radio representation and how it may be utilized to analyze different trade-offs between network deployment costs and an energy-efficient clustering approach. We also highlight a few protocols that can be utilized in heterogeneous networks that are energy efficient.
  • Linear Quadratic Gaussian Design in a Grid-Connected and Islanded Microgrid System for Stability Enrichment
Sureshraj Se Pa, Mohamed Badcha Yakoob, Muthuveerappan Seetharaman, Jenita Daniel Victor, Kasthuri Arumugam, Srimathi Muthukumaran
    Engineering Proceedings, 2023
This paper proposes a Linear Quadratic Gaussian (LQG) control design for a grid-connected and Islanded mode Microgrid composed of a single-network feeding and forming converter with one local load. The LQG controller was designed for two different Microgrid modes: Grid-connected mode and islanded mode. A separate LQG controller was designed for each mode and a comparative analysis was made. The LQG controller was designed using the State-Space variables determined by linearizing the model. The controller consists of the optimal gain ‘K’, optimal Linear Quadratic Regulator (LQR), and the Kalman Filter. In both Microgrid modes, the LQG eliminates disturbance and noise in the system and makes the system optimally controlled. The Microgrid system also consists of another control system that comprises the subsequent control subsystem, i.e., Alpha–Beta control, Power and Current loop, and Space Vector Modulation. The steady-state response of the Microgrid system, noise, and disturbance present in Grid-connected and islanded modes was rectified by the LQG controller. The design environment used for developing the Microgrid and LQG controller was the MATLAB/Simulink platform. The effective simulations have permitted and determined results that convey the optimal control and stable performance of the proposed system.
  • Energy Management In Hybrid Electric Vehicles
Sivakumar P, Rathi Devi P, Sundararajan G, Sureshraj Se Pa, Nalini D, Mohamed Badcha Y
2022 Opju International Technology Conference on Emerging Technologies for Sustainable Development Otcon 2022, 2023
In general, electric motors that use the energy from the batteries are combined with IC engines to power hybrid electric vehicles. In this study, a pure hybrid electric car with no emissions is explored. Solar PV is coupled with electric motors and energy storage components. Solar energy, which is ubiquitous and abundant in nature, can be a fantastic replacement for traditional resources. The use of this technology will lessen the environmental pollution. Three parameters, including load demand, battery SOC, and solar power, are taken into account while allocating electricity.
  • Machine Learning Gaussian Process Regression based Robust H-Infinity Controller Design for Solar PV System to Achieve High Performance and Guarantee Stability †

    Engineering Proceedings, 2022
: The combined action of Machine Learning and the control system algorithm is proposed in this Renewable Energy System. The reason for proposing this Renewable Energy System is because it is a clean energy source from nature and it is free of cost. Here, the Renewable Energy system includes the Solar PV. This energy system has a higher scope of installation in most countries. For that, we propose a controller which achieves high performance and Guarantees Stability. In this proposed system, the disturbance and Uncertain parameters are considered both internal and external parameters. To overcome this problem, the Robust Control design is already implemented in the Control Engineering Field to attain System Stability. Conversely, this proposed method is a new approach to examine the System Stability by combining Machine Learning Gaussian Process Regression (MLGPR) with the Robust H-infinity Controller. The approach used in Machine Learning-GPR consists of gathering data of the initial system and gradually decreasing the Uncertainty, which results in an improvement of the performance. Finally, ML-GPR learns a model with Uncertainty bounds. We combined the model with a Control Framework (i.e., H-infinity Controller) that Guarantees Stability for this uncertain model. The design Environment used for the experimental verification is MATLAB/Simulink software. The Simulation Results confirmed the effectiveness of the newly proposed Control Strategy.
