  • Unified Audio Enhancement System: Integrating Noise Filtering, Equalization, and Karaoke Extraction for Better Sound Quality
C Sanjana Manoj, S Sindhu, Anitta Palamuttam Thomas, K Rohith, Albin Babu
2025 11th International Conference on Smart Computing and Communications Intelligent Technologies for A Sustainable World Icscc 2025, 2025
Audio enhancement technologies play a vital role in improving sound quality across various domains, including music production, telecommunication, and speech processing. This study proposes a unified audio enhancement system that integrates noise filtering, multi-band parametric equalization, and karaoke extraction within a user-interactive Graphical User Interface (GUI). Noise filtering is achieved using spectral subtraction, which estimates and subtracts stationary noise from the input signal spectrum. The output is then subjected to adaptive Wiener filtering, which dynamically enhances speech clarity while suppressing background interference. Karaoke extraction employs stereo cancellation, utilizing phase differences between stereo channels to isolate and remove vocal components. A multi-band parametric equalizer is implemented using Infinite Impulse Response (IIR) bandpass filters, allowing precise frequency adjustments across multiple bands for enhanced audio customization. The GUI provides an interactive platform for users to upload, process, visualize, and save audio files while offering control over equalizer band gains. Spectrograms and frequency-domain plots assist in analyzing the processed audio. The integration of these advanced Digital Signal Processing (DSP) methods into a single environment ensures an efficient and flexible solution for both professional and casual users.
  • Cloud-Enabled UV Disinfection System for Remote Healthcare Sanitization During Pandemics
Pranav Prasad, Anli Joy, Remya P., Albert Thomas Abraham, Sindhu S.
International Conference on Trends in Engineering Systems and Technologies Ictest 2025 Proceedings, 2025
In healthcare and public environments, maintaining hygiene standards is critical to preventing the spread of infections. Traditional disinfection methods are time-consuming, unreliable, and expose workers to harmful pathogens. To address these challenges, a cloud-connected UV disinfection robot is introduced, automating surface sterilization using UV-C light to ensure effective pathogen elimination while minimizing human exposure. The system integrates microcontroller, UV-C LEDs, environmental sensors, and navigation modules. By connecting to a cloud-based platform, the robot provides real-time monitoring and control through a human-machine interface, allowing operators to receive performance data. The solution incorporates real time data analysis to optimize disinfection parameters and environmental factors such as temperature, humidity, and air quality ensuring maximum efficiency. The use of UV-C technology, cloud connectivity, and advanced data analysis makes this system effective tool for controlling pandemics. This work also includes an Impact analysis and scoring of the environmental factors on pandemic spread.

Majority of the industrial and commercial loads such as power converters, variable frequency drives, air conditioners, escalators, elevators, etc. incorporate a large number of power electronic devices. These loads introduce dynamic harmonic current, imbalance in the current and varying reactive power demand in the three phase AC mains supply. This paper presents a comparison of four shunt active filtering algorithms. The control algorithms are simulated and analyzed using the MATLAB/ Simulink software under different operating conditions.

Fan is one of the unavoidable electronic equipment in everyday life. The presence of a fan in a house, office or school is not considered as a luxury on the other hand it is included in the basic requirement. Here the facility of ordinary fan is increased by making it controlled by a remote. In a remote controlled table fan, a remote is used to regulate the speed of fan and to adjust its position. Radio Frequency (RF) remote can be used for controlling speed and to swing the fan to a desired direction. Using this system, changing the speed of the fan and adjusting the direction from couch or bed or even outside the room is possible. The remote is used for controlling the speed of the fan in three different levels. This innovation finds its use mainly to help old age people who cannot walk in order to control the speed of fan. Remote controlled fan with infrared remotes are already implemented but, here radio frequency remotes are introduced so that high range is obtained as compared with infrared remote and presence of obstacles does not affect its working as in case of infrared remote.
  • Photovoltaic based adaptive shunt hybrid filter for power quality enhancement
    M.R. Sindhu, Manjula G. Nair, S. Sindhu
IEEE International Conference on Power Electronics Drives and Energy Systems Pedes 2016, 2017
Power electronic controller based power system equipment are widely used in industrial, commercial and residential sectors. These controllers help in energy saving, but they introduce different power quality issues such as harmonic distortions in current and voltage, voltage sag/swell etc. These power quality issues cause malfunctioning of associated circuits. This paper presents an adaptive shunt hybrid filter where voltage support for DC link capacitor is provided by solar photovoltaic source which improves the power quality by eliminating current harmonics, and improving the power factor. With the help of suitable control algorithm, the filter achieves capability of real power pumping to the grid in addition to harmonic and reactive compensation. The simulation results are carried out with three phase non-linear loads under balanced and/or unbalanced source/load conditions. The results obtained are satisfactory which depicts the effectiveness of the control algorithm and improvement in the power quality with Solar Photo Voltaic integration.
  • Implementation of photovoltaic integrated unified power conditioner for power quality enhancement
    Sindhu S., M.R. Sindhu, T. N. P Nambiar
IEEE International Conference on Power Electronics Drives and Energy Systems Pedes 2016, 2017
This paper presents a photovoltaic (PV) integrated unified power conditioner (UPC) system that provides power quality enhancement as well as real power sharing. The shunt inverter of the PV integrated UPC system provides compensation for the harmonics present in the source current and reactive power while the series inverter compensates for voltage harmonics, voltage sags and swells. A novel control algorithm is used to operate the inverters of unified power conditioner integrated with photovoltaic generation scheme to improve the power quality at the Point of Common Coupling (PCC). The control scheme for PV integrated UPC is verified using MATLAB/ Simulink and validated experimentally using laboratory prototype.
