The activity of Dillenia suffruticosa leaf extract against pathogenic bacteria in fish J Setiaji, H Heriyanto, V F Prakoso, H Melati, F Huseini, I Fadli, S M Samin Iop Conference Series Earth and Environmental Science, 2026 This investigation was conducted to assess the antimicrobial efficacy of an extract from Dillenia suffruticosa as a potential alternative to conventional antibiotics, the use of which in aquaculture contributes to pathogen resistance and ecological damage. The study focused on the extract’s activity against five key ichthyopathogenic bacteria: A. salmonicida , V. alginolyticus , P. aeruginosa , E. ictaluri , and E. tarda . A phytochemical screening first confirmed the presence of bioactive classes within the extract, namely phenolics, flavonoids, terpenoids, and saponins. Subsequently, the extract’s inhibitory capacity was measured using an agar well diffusion assay at concentrations ranging from 100, 200, 300, 400 and 500 mg·mL -1 . The extract demonstrated successful growth suppression against all target bacteria, producing inhibition zones of 12.15–14.90 mm against A. salmonicida , 11.50–14.50 mm against V. alginolyticus , 11.15–13.80 mm against P. aeruginosa , 11.10–14.50 mm against E. ictaluri , and 11.10–14.40 mm against E. tarda . Collectively, this evidence suggests that the Dillenia suffruticosa extract is a strong candidate for development into a novel, environmentally sound phytopharmaceutical for controlling bacterial infections in aquaculture.
Exploring the predictor of teaching quality using the job demands-resources model M. A. Rafsanjani, A. F. Prakoso, H. D. Wahyudi, S. M. Samin, А. Е. Prabowo, S. А. Wijaya Obrazovanie I Nauka, 2025 Introduction. Maintaining teaching quality in higher education in Indonesia is challenging due to the significant job demands placed on lecturers, who are expected to fulfill multiple roles as educators, researchers, and mentors. Aim. The present research aimed to explore the potential of using the job demands-resources (JD-R) model to evaluate the quality of teaching in higher education. Methodology and research methods. This study employs structural equation modelling (SEM) using SmartPLS 3.0 software to analyse the research model based on a random sample of 285 lecturers from nineteen universities in Indonesia. Results. It has been established that role conflict among lecturers negatively impacts teaching quality, whereas self-efficacy positively influences it. The paper presents methods for utilising the JD-R model to examine factors related to the performance of higher education teachers. Scientific novelty. This study, utilising the capabilities of the JD-R model, identifies factors that influence teaching quality and presents mechanisms that underlie the relationship between role conflict and the level of self-efficacy in teaching performance among high school educators in Indonesia. Practical significance. The paper out-lines the opportunities available to university administrations and the Indonesian Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology for making critical management decisions related to teaching quality. This includes restructuring the educational process to reduce the burden on teachers and expanding the methods used to assess their performance. These goals can be accomplished through the development of innovative organisational support systems.
Antibacterial efficacy of Clidemia hirta leaf extract against pathogenic fish bacteria Jarod Setiaji, Valentio Febrian Prakoso, Heriyanto, Hisra Melati, Handika Azhari, Anugrah Nur Ramadhan, Saproni Muhammad Samin Bio Web of Conferences, 2024 Bacterial diseases pose a serious threat to aquatic ecosystems, and the use of antibiotics to address these problems can have harmful effects on both fish and their environment. Therefore, there is an increasing demand for safe natural alternatives to treat fish diseases. This research investigates the antibacterial properties of an extract from Clidemia hirta against various bacterial strains, including A. salmonicida, P. aeruginosa, E. ictaluri, A. hydrophila, V. alginolyticus, and E. tarda. Phytochemical analysis of the extract identified the presence of phenolic compounds, terpenoids, saponins, and flavonoids. The antibacterial effectiveness of the C. hirta extract was assessed using the agar diffusion method at concentrations of 50, 100, 150, 200, and 250 mg/mL. The findings indicated that the extract significantly inhibited the growth of A. salmonicida (16.5 mm to 23.3 mm), P. aeruginosa (17.3 mm to 23.5 mm), E. ictaluri (15.3 mm to 23.5 mm), A. hydrophila (15.3 mm to 21.8 mm), V. alginolyticus (16.8 mm to 22.8 mm), and E. tarda (15.0 mm to 22.8 mm). In summary, the extract from C. hirta shows potential as a natural agent to control pathogenic bacteria affecting fish.
The Activity of Melicope ptelefolia Leaf Extract Against Pathogenic Bacteria in Fish Jarod Setiaji, Valentio Febrian Prakoso, Heriyanto Heriyanto, Hisra Melati, Tengku Said Raza’i, Alfan Mursyidi, Mufidah Zahrani, M. Nur, Saproni Muhammad Samin Bio Web of Conferences, 2024 The application of antibiotics to treat bacterial infections poses risks to fish and the ecosystem, highlighting the need for safe, natural alternatives for fish disease treatment. This research focuses on evaluating the antibacterial properties of Melicope ptelefolia extract against various pathogens, including Aeromonas salmonicida, Edwarsiella tarda, Edwarsiella ictaluri, Aeromonas hydrophila, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The extract underwent phytochemical analysis, which confirmed the presence of phenolic compounds, flavonoids, saponins, and terpenoids. Antibacterial effectiveness was assessed using the agar diffusion method at 100, 200, 300, 400, and 500 mg/mL concentrations. The results showed that M. ptelefolia extract significantly inhibited the growth of A. salmonicida (13.5 mm to 14.8 mm), E. tarda (12.0 mm to 13.1 mm), E. ictaluri (13.9 mm to 15.8 mm), A. hydrophila (13.5 mm to 14.1 mm), and P. aeruginosa (13.1 mm to 14.0 mm), compared to a control (+) group with inhibition zones of 25.5 mm to 26.0 mm. Overall, the extract exhibited strong antibacterial activity against these pathogenic bacteria, indicating its potential as a natural antibacterial agent for fish.
