Role of pH in the Pure Phase Formation of Barium Stannate Nanostructure Via Chemical Precipitation Route Shalu Sharma, Sandeep Chhoker EPJ Web of Conferences, 2026 Mobility of a TCO (transparent conducting oxide) depends on purity of phase, temperature and effective mass of charge carriers. Phase purity and operating temperature are the two controllable parameters to enhance the mobility. In this study firstly we have analyzed the role of pH on pure phase formation of BaSnO 3 by using two different bases NaOH and NH3. For this, the experiment is performed at various pH values i.e. from pH-8 to pH-11 using NH3. Secondly at pH -11 the chemical precipitation synthesis was performed by using Base NaOH and chlorides as precursor. It is observed that Pure phase formation of stannate nanostructure i.e. BaSnO 3 through Chemical precipitation is very much controlled by pH of the precursor solution. The pH affects the solubility of a compound and thus further decides the precipitation of desired hydroxides of metals. In this study pure phase formation was analyzed through XRD studies. It is evident through our studies that in chemical synthesis of BaSnO 3 , NaOH is better choice of base than NH 3 . Also, Barium Chloride is better precursor than Barium carbonate in synthesizing BaSnO 3 nanostructures. XRD study also revealed that while using Barium carbonate, SnO 2 phase appeared as impurity but when Barium chloride is used, no such impurity is observed. SEM studies revealed the micro rod like morphology of Barium stannate. The RT mobility of these Barium stannate microrods comes out to be 49 cm 2 /V-sec.
Broad photoluminescence and photocatalysis from functional carbonaceous material-metallized porphyrin composites for UV-Vis light harvesting Ambika Pathak, Sandeep Chhoker Physica Scripta, 2025 Current vivid study reports synthesis, optical studies of functional carbonaceous material (FCM) as well as broad range photoluminescence including synergistic effect of metallized porphyrin (as visible range light absorbing material) on photocatalysis carried under visible light irradiation. This high-order self-assembly of functional carbonaceous material possess extraordinary photophysical-chemical properties with its surface rich in functional groups (thus making it suitable for π-π * transitions) and further its composite formation with a high absorption coefficient (more than 20,000 in broad visible range 400–700 nm) and non-radiative fluorescence quenching exhibiting (near IR) metallized porphyrin. The structural, compositional characteristics of FCM and its composite including phase purity, types of functional groups, bonding arrangement is analysed like XRD, FESEM, EDX, FTIR, UV–vis, FL and Raman spectroscopy. The optical as well as structural properties (exhibiting suitable ID/IG ratio ∼ 1.4) of the pure as well as composite of FCM and porphyrin (band gap shifting from UV (4.2 eV) to visible (3.0 eV)) indicated the robust and versatile behaviour to be explored in applications such as photodetection and catalysis. In this article, we report the broad range photoluminescence for pure FCM (300–550 nm) as well as its porphyrin-based composite (400–550 nm) and further the application of composite in the photocatalytic ability for the degradation of standard methylene blue dye for degradation percentage of 62% in 120 min in visible light while 30% in 180 min in dark. Its cost effectiveness, biocompatibility, solution processability, stability and the most crucial, its appreciable results in minute resource utilization indicates its appropriateness as competitive photocatalyst in similar as well as modified schemes.
Photocatalytic activity of quaternary chalcogenide for methylene blue degradation Chandresh Kumari, Pankaj Sharma, Sandeep Chhoker Aip Conference Proceedings, 2024 Erbium-doped Selenium-based chalcogenide system has attracted attention due to the narrow band gap, and various applications in solar energy utilization, photocatalytic activity for the visible light response, and removal of hazardous pollutants. Researchers are attracted to photocatalytic studies because it is environmental friendly. Ge17Sb8Se75-xErx where x=0, 0.4%, 0.8% chalcogenide glass has been synthesized by traditional melt quenching technique. Further, morphological study and elemental composition have been done using FESEM and EDX. In this present study, photocatalytic activity for degradation of methylene blue dye under green light and UV-cut irradiation is investigated.
Light-Assisted AgMoS2 and PdMoS2 Hybrid Gas Sensors for Room-Temperature Detection of Ammonia Saurabh Rawat, Priyanka Bamola, Shreya Negi, Karishma, Chanchal Rani, Shivani Dangwal, Archana Mishra, Manika Khanuja, A. K. Yogi, Sandeep Chhoker, Mohit Sharma, Charu Dwivedi, Rajesh Kumar, Himani Sharma ACS Applied Nano Materials, 2024 Using hybrids and photon illumination together is an important step toward making high-performance gas sensors. Hybrid materials have their own properties that can improve the way gas sensors work, and photon illumination can make the sensor more sensitive. There is currently a lack of understanding regarding the impact of photoassisted gas sensing properties of hybrid materials, making it imperative that the connection between light photons and heterostructures for gas sensing materials be clarified. In this article, we design and develop a photoassisted molybdenum disulfide (MoS 2 ) based hybrid gas sensor with a low detection limit (10 ppm). Also, the mentioned sensor has robust antihumidity interference by incorporating the localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) effect using metal nanoparticles of Ag and Pd decorated over the MoS 2 nanoflowers. It has been discovered that the performance of sensing is enhanced when MoS 2 is modified with Ag and Pd nanoparticles of nearly 5 nm in diameter in conjunction with green light (533 nm). The AgMoS 2 displays a higher response value (76%) to 10 ppm of NH 3 at room temperature compared to the PdMoS 2 (43.7%) and bare MoS 2 (19.5%). This improvement in sensing response is a result of LSPR in AgMoS 2 hybrids and of the formation of a Schottky barrier in PdMoS 2 hybrids, as confirmed by UV–vis, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and ultraviolet photoelectron spectroscopy (UPS) measurements. These findings open up a route for creating real-time gas detection sensors that can operate at lower temperatures.
