  • Battling Tuberculosis on the Frontlines: Protecting Healthcare Workers From Occupational TB
Sakshi Chaturvedi, Chakrapani Chaturvedi, Shailendra Singh Choudhary
Advanced Tuberculosis Infection Prevention and Control Practices, 2025
The risk of healthcare workers (HCWs) contracting tuberculosis (TB) occupationally has been significantly elevated, with prevalence rates significantly higher than those of the general population. The most hazardous factors include poor ventilation, irregular use of personal protective equipment (PPE), underlying disease histories, working with multidrug-resistant TB, and long exposure to patients with an infectious disease. High-risk groups, such as laboratory technicians, nurses, and physicians, report prevalence rates of 2,006-6,468 per 100,000 individuals. This chapter goes into detail about how well infection-control measures, regular check-ups, tuberculosis preventive treatment (TPT), and self-care practices help reduce tuberculosis among healthcare workers. The chapter also discusses the administration functions, engineering measures, screening processes, and monitoring strategies for controlling tuberculosis among healthcare workers. The chapter provides practical solutions to the challenges of protecting healthcare workers and reducing the occupational tuberculosis burden.

The efficacy of blended learning, which was first introduced in the 1960s, has been demonstrated in a variety of educational disciplines. Nevertheless, there is a significant lack of research that specifically addresses its implementation in the teaching of nursing research courses in the Indian context. The importance of improving the research skills of undergraduate nursing students in India has been emphasized in a multitude of studies. In order to assess the efficacy of blended learning pedagogy in instructing the main course of nursing research and statistics to 120 undergraduate nursing students was implemented in their final year at specific nursing colleges in the Western state of India, this investigation implements a quasiexperimental research methodology. The control group was subjected to an Online Learning (OL) intervention, while the experimental group received an intervention using Online Blended Learning (OBL) pedagogy. The findings suggest that OBL substantially improves knowledge, skills, attitudes, and active learning in comparison to OL. The mean knowledge score was 23.73 in OL and 34.9 in OBL, the mean attitude score was 92.4 in OL and 104.5 in OBL, the mean skill score was 106.6 in OL and 107.6 in OBL, and the mean active learning score was 61.9 in OL and 62.6 in OBL. These findings indicate that Online Blended Learning promotes self-paced learning, accessibility to study materials, and increased student engagement, thereby alleviating research anxiety among undergraduate nursing students.

Proceedings of the 2025 12th International Conference on Computing for Sustainable Global Development Indiacom 2025, 2025
Manuscript writing is a critical skill for nursing professionals, yet many students face challenges due to limited learning opportunities. This study investigates the impact of a flipped classroom approach on enhancing manuscript writing and reference management competencies among nursing students. A quasi-experimental post-test only design without a control group was implemented, engaging 60 nursing students in an interactive flipped classroom program. Students explored course material before the workshop, fostering active participation and deeper engagement. Data collection included a knowledge assessment and a paper citation competency test posttraining. The average knowledge score was 7.36 (SD <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$=1.37$</tex>), with 51.60 % achieving good results, while 82 % of students met satisfactory standards for annotated bibliography tasks. These findings underscore the efficacy of the flipped classroom model in promoting research writing skills and suggest its potential for broader application in nursing education. However, targeted interventions are needed to support students scoring below average. This study highlights the importance of innovative teaching strategies in advancing nursing education.

Proceedings of the 2025 12th International Conference on Computing for Sustainable Global Development Indiacom 2025, 2025
Migraine is a common neurological disorder characterized by headaches, nausea, and increased sensitivity to light and sound. This illness is the second most common neurological disorder, resulting in substantial disability. Academic stress and poor sleep pose major risks to university students, particularly those studying medicine and nursing. This study looked at how online blended learning helped people understand and manage migraines better. Blended learning allows learners to advance at their own pace while participating in discussions and receiving constructive feedback. Students used talks, visual mediums, and written materials. This study used a one-group pre-test and post-test (quasi-experimental) methodology to evaluate the effectiveness of blended learning in improving B. Sc. Nursing students' comprehension of migraine and its management. The investigation included 180 nursing students from various academic years. Participants completed an online structured questionnaire evaluating their knowledge before and after the blended learning course on Google Classroom. The goal was to better understanding of migraines, including the underlying causes and management options. The results show that this technique considerably enhanced participants' understanding and memory of migraine management procedures. Migraine triggers, dietary influences, physical activity levels, and medication use were identified as key areas for improvement. The average pre-test score was 11.1, which increased to 14.01 on the post-test. The t-test comparison of means produced a <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$P$</tex> value of 0.02111, indicating that online blended learning is successful. The findings revealed that students had a limited basic knowledge of migraines and its management; nonetheless, the online blended classroom intervention was beneficial in boosting students' understanding of migraine treatment.

It is essential that students and teachers work together to acquire even the most basic nursing care skills to the full extent of the Nursing Process. The nursing procedure is not something that can be learnt in a single day by any student. There were various difficulties for both learners and mentors during the COVID-19 outbreak when e-learning was used as a mode of instruction. This project was designed to efficiently address learning needs during a pandemic. In this study, baccalaureate nursing students were taught the nursing process using a flipped classroom methodology with the goal of developing knowledge and skill in the nursing process. To teach the nursing process during the covid-19 pandemic; A Flipped learning program was planned with 4 online modules to teach the nursing process. To see the effectiveness one group posttest only design was adopted for 36 students selected by consecutive sampling. The whole program was planned with an integrated pedagogy in pre-classroom, during the classroom, and post-classroom activities to attain the objective of comprehensive knowledge & skills acquisition for delivering the nursing process. Teaching for theory was done virtually with prerecorded Video-lecture, PowerPoint Presentation, Pdf. asynchronous & synchronous discussion and demonstration of procedures were done face to face in the skill lab. The final assessment was performed by a self-structured knowledge questionnaire and a practicum exa mination through OSCE in the laboratory. The result shows that students scored mean knowledge of 15.2 out of 20 with a standard deviation of 2.6 and a practice score of 9.42 out of 12 with a standard deviation of 3.1.If the pedagogy is engaging, from simple to complex, and the whole process is accompanied by self-learning material on computers, the nursing process can be made easier. Students' critical thinking and synthesizing abilities have been boosted by classroom activities. This course has provided students with the opportunity to self-learning with computers so that they can use that knowledge to improve nursing services in the future.
