A Review on Ultra-Wideband Antennas for Through Wall Imaging and Ground Penetrating Radar Applications Sangeetha Subbaraj, Saffrine Kingsly Radio Science, 2025 This paper presents the review on the design of various ultra‐wideband antennas through wall imaging in radar applications. The technical and methodological features in the design of ultra‐wideband is examined in this work. The parameters such as gain, directivity, frequency bandwidth sidelobe level and complexity involved in the design are studied. Furthermore, the image resolution and penetration depth required for Ground Penetrating Radar systems depends on the antenna parameters are analyzed in detail. The proposed manuscript gives a depth study of the suitable antenna design for penetrating ground radars. The comparative study is made on the various types of UWB antenna with a focus (a) To highlight the requirement for UWB antennas in wall imaging radar imaging systems (b) To describe the techniques used to enhance the performance of the antenna.
Optimization of Water Resource Management: A LoRa-Based Control Framework for Multiple Pump Control Systems Gayatri Phade, Saffrine Kingsly, Sharada Ohotkar, Minal Gade, Vidya Chitre, Omkar Vaidya International Journal of Environmental Impacts, 2024 In the realm of water resource management, optimizing the operation of multiple water pumps plays a pivotal role in ensuring the efficient distribution and conservation of this vital resource. This research paper proposes a novel approach to address this challenge by harnessing the power of Long Range (LoRa) communication technology for controlling multiple water pumps remotely. The study begins by exploring the existing methodologies in water pump control systems and identifies their limitations, particularly in terms of scalability, range, and energy efficiency. Subsequently, it introduces the concept of LoRa technology and its applicability in the domain of multiple water pump control, highlighting its long-range communicating capability, low-power consumption, and suitability for precision agriculture. The system architecture is delineated, encompassing the integration of LoRa transceivers with each water pump, a central control unit
Millimetre wave antenna design for 5G applications Sangeetha Subbaraj, Shweta B. Thomas, Saffrine Kingsly 5g and Beyond Wireless Communications Fundamentals Applications and Challenges, 2024 Due to the greater demand in the field of wireless communication, mmWave technology is preferred for various advantages, such as large operating bandwidth, higher data rate, higher operating frequency, and shorter wavelength. This technology has less penetration and propagation loss as compared to the microwave frequency bands. In general, antenna plays a very important role in terms of receiver sensitivity, link budget analysis, transceiver design, and other digital modulation schemes. The spectrum allocated for the mmWave is from 30 GHz to 300 GHz, and the required spectrum for 5G applications is from 20 GHz to 90 GHz. Many of the mmWave antenna research is focussed on developing the antenna on chip using CMOS technology and mmWave phased-array designs. The other research efforts focused on finding the effects of cellular phones, reducing the cost, and increasing the gain of the antenna. To reduce the signal loss in mmWave propagation, phased-array antennas are preferred due to their higher gain. The radiation pattern of the phased array can also be adjusted to change the maximum beam direction. The key parameters, like steering angle, resolution, side-lobe level size of the array, and polarization, are considered in designing the phased array. In handheld devices, the number of antennas is increased to support high data rate and reliability. This increases the overall dimensions of the devices. Hence, the frequency reconfigurable method and antenna in package help reduce the space constraint problem. To support both long-range and short-range communications, 4G and 5G applications need to be integrated in a single antenna design. Hence, MIMO method and dual-function approach of the antenna act as the solutions for integrating the antenna. The isolation techniques, diversity gain, envelope correlation coefficient also need to be analyzed for the MIMO antennas. The next challenge in the fabrication of mmWave antenna is the tolerance of the dielectric material and its thickness in higher frequency. The loss tangent value of the material also changes and is unpredictable at high frequency. The properties of SMD components fabricated in the PCB change after 6 GHz. Since the wavelength is very short, the effects of skin depth, losses due to conductors, and dielectric surface roughness need to be considered.
EBG-based slotted T-shaped antenna for sub-6 GHz 5G application Hema Raut, Saffrine Kingsly, Sangeetha Subbaraj, Rajeshwari Malekar International Journal of Electronics Letters, 2024 This paper proposes the design of a T-shaped antenna that resonates at 3.6 GHz, suitable for 5G small-cell technology. An EBG structure consists of four unit cells, each comprising rectangular strips. The periodic structure is combined with the antenna design, and performance enhancement in terms of gain and impedance bandwidth is observed. The gain of the antenna without periodic structure is 3.78 dBi, whereas with periodic structure it is enhanced by 1.1 dB and is noted as 4.8 dBi. The antenna dimensions are 38 mm × 37 mm × 3 mm. Also, the measured impedance bandwidth of the antenna structure without periodic structure is 60 MHz. In contrast, the proposed prototype antenna backed with an EBG structure provides the measured impedance bandwidth of 80 MHz (3.49 GHz to 3.57 GHz).
Forecasting Coastal Changes: A Case Study on Florida's Shorelines Steve Francis, Anoosha Kanungo, Eshaan Sowale, Mitali Pagarware, Saffrine Kingsly 2024 15th International Conference on Computing Communication and Networking Technologies Icccnt 2024, 2024 Predicting changes in coastline dynamics is crucial for coastal management and hazard mitigation. This work uses MATLAB’s Mapping Toolbox to develop a predictive model for coastline evolution along the Florida coast. Remotely sensed data and geographical information systems (GIS) are used to analyze coastline and geo-environmental data to forecast the shape of the coastline in the future. The method involves data pre-processing, feature extraction, model training, and validation. The outcomes of this research hold significant application for environmental awareness, coastal planning, risk assessment, and sustainable development in the Florida region. Additionally, the coastline changes of other regions can also be mapped using this model.
