AHP based technical, economic and environmental impact analysis with optimal DG placement in radial distribution network Surender Singh Tanwar, Ganesh Prasad Prajapat, Ravindra Rathod, Sanjay Kumar Bansal, Sukhlal Sisodia International Journal of Applied Power Engineering, 2024 This manuscript considers multi-criteria based multi-objective approach with technical, economic and environmental indices (TEE) for optimal placement and sizing of distributed generation (DG) units in the distribution network. Technical criteria include indices of active energy losses, voltage deviation; whereas economic criteria include the index of cost of DG installation, and environmental index considers the various greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from generating unit’s and biomass DG. Combined sensitivity analysis is applied for sorting the candidate nodes for DG placement and reducing the search space. Multi-criteria decision-making among TEE factors are addressed using a scientific approach named Analytic Hierarchy process (AHP) approach. The impact of prioritized solutions is analyzed in terms of three scenarios formed using AHP in the form of TEE criterion. The developed formulation is tested on IEEE 33-bus bus radial distribution system and is solved using hybrid optimization approach (hybrid GA-PSO) and AHP based scenarios performed better than base case scenario (non-prioritized scenario).
Estimation of Height of Building Using High Resolution Satellite Image Nitin Gavankar, Ravindra Rathod, Vivek Waghmare International Conference on Geographical Information Systems Theory Applications and Management Gistam Proceedings, 2024 : Buildings along with their properties such as, shape, rooftop reflectance, structure, etc. are one of the most commonly observed structures in urban areas. Two-dimensional (2D) building footprint along with building height information play an important role in the field of urban development, urban planning, population estimation, map making, disaster management, and various other socioeconomic applications. Shadow cast by buildings plays a vital role in estimation of height of building. In this study, sun-satellite geometry method using shadow cast by building has been used to estimate height of building. However, accurate shadow detection, extraction, and measuring width of the shadow zone are some of the important aspects in estimation of height of building. In order to detect and extract width of the shadow zone accurately, OBIA has been used. Further, accuracy in measuring width of the shadow zone has been improved by introducing a new algorithm and considering sun illumination direction and orientation of building. OBIA along with new algorithm to measure width of the shadow zone provides a sound methodology for estimation of height of all types and shape of buildings.
A Deep Learning Approach for Fast Detection of COVID-19 using Lung X-ray Scans Nitin L. Gavankar, Ravindra R. Rathod, Vivek N. Waghmare, Madhav M. Bokare 2024 2nd Dmiher International Conference on Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare Education and Industry Idicaiei 2024, 2024 In the pandemic situations, when multiple strains of coronavirus are still a concern, RT-PCR is a lengthy manual testing technique that can take anywhere from a few hours to two days to complete. The system aims to develop a model that is based on radiology. For the purpose of detection, the coronavirus is detected using X-ray imaging. This proposed methodology is to identify patients whose x-rays are taken. Check to see if they are infected with COVID-19. The data collection includes pneumonia X-rays, normal and Covid-19 X-rays patients. This research includes the implementation of VGG19, Inception V3, and ResNet-50. Convolution Neural Network (CNN) models play a critical role in image classification. Different metrics are used to evaluate the model.
Design of electricity tariff plans using gap statistic for K-means clustering based on consumers monthly electricity consumption data Ravindra R. Rathod, Rahul Dev Garg International Journal of Energy Sector Management, 2017 Purpose Electricity consumption around the world and in India is continuously increasing over the years. Presently, there is a huge diversity in electricity tariffs across states in India. This paper aims to focus on development of new tariff design method using K-means clustering and gap statistic. Design/methodology/approach Numbers of tariff plans are selected using gap-statistic for K-means clustering and regression analysis is used to deduce new tariffs from existing tariffs. The study has been carried on nearly 27,000 residential consumers from Sangli city, Maharashtra State, India. Findings These tariff plans are proposed with two objectives: first, possibility to shift consumer’s from existing to lower tariff plan for saving electricity and, second, to increase revenue by increasing tariff charges using Pay-by-Use policy. Research limitations/implications The study can be performed on hourly or daily data using automatic meter reading and to introduce Time of Use or demand based tariff. Practical implications The proposed study focuses on use of data mining techniques for tariff planning based on consumer’s electricity usage pattern. It will be helpful to detect abnormalities in consumption pattern as well as forecasting electricity usage. Social implications Consumers will be able to decide own monthly electricity consumption and related tariff leading to electricity savings, as well as high electricity consumption consumers have to pay more tariff charges for extra electricity usage. Originality/value To remove the disparity in various tariff plans across states and country, proposed method will help to provide a platform for designing uniform tariff for entire country based on consumer’s electricity consumption data.
