An emerging scenario for adopting electric vehicles in developing countries: A framework for the exploration of customer anticipation T. Sathish Kumar, V. Indragandhi, B. Ashok, B. Rajagopal, S. Byri Neeraj Energy Reports, 2025 The prevailing technological and infrastructural developments might not efficiently facilitate the imminent transition to electric transportation. In this regard, the article extensively evaluates every influential parameter and their concern with EV transition based on the consumer perspective survey. Further, various multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) techniques are performed for all the parameters to analyze the hierarchy of prioritization. Additionally, the article meticulously emphasizes the policies and programs enacted to improve and manage the transition of mobility towards electrification. The research findings exhibit that the paucity of charging infrastructure and the total cost of ownership could be the most important factors. In addition, other factors including driving range, battery life, safety, performance and reliability significantly influence the consumer decision. Hence, it is recognised that developing nations are in a position to focus on infrastructural development. Also, policymakers can consider additional financial schemes such as incentives, subsidies and tax relaxation during the policy framework. Besides, the automakers of EVs must pay attention to technological development in battery life, safety and recycling to increase consumer confidence and the reliability of EVs. Eventually, the consistent transition of EVs can be established by addressing the outlined highlights otherwise, it might end up in a massive setback.
