Reflective/ Transmissive FSS for Ku/K/Ka Band Satellite Communication Safana Amala yazhini A, Pritha Gayathri K, T Shanmuganantham, Sindhanaiselvi D 2025 IEEE Microwaves Antennas and Propagation Conference Mapcon 2025, 2025 This study presents a compact and angularly stable Frequency Selective Surface (FSS) structure for K, Ku and Ka frequency band. The unit cell consists of a symmetric six-pointed star-shaped patch with circular metallic slot etched at the outer and inner part of the star. A square loop patch with star helps to achieve dual passband characteristics separated by a single stopband. The dual pass band has been achieved at the 14.6 GHz and 26 GHz due to the star patch and the stopband has been achieved at 20 GHz between the two passband because of the presence of square loop. The work has achieved stable oblique incidence up to 80 degree for both Transverse modes. Owing to its multi-band filtering capability and stable performance under wide-angle incidence, the proposed FSS is highly suitable for electromagnetic shielding and selective transparency in K, Ku- and Ka-band satellite communication systems.
Stub-Augmented Low Profile Magneto-Electric Dipole Antenna for Unified 2G to 4G and Sub-6 GHz n78 Band Coverage Vadlamudi Roja, Balakrishna Islavath, Indhumathi K, D Sindhanaiselvi, T. Shanmuganantham 2025 IEEE Microwaves Antennas and Propagation Conference Mapcon 2025, 2025 This paper presents a novel, low-profile magnetoelectric (ME) dipole antenna optimized for seamless integration across legacy <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$(2 \mathrm{G} / 3 \mathrm{G} / 4 \mathrm{G})$</tex> and emerging 5 G sub- 6 GHz frequency bands, including n78 and portions of the n77 band. The innovative incorporation of vertical stub augmentations into the ME dipole structure enables substantial bandwidth enhancement without increasing the antenna's height or complexity. The proposed design achieves an impressive impedance bandwidth of over <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$103.32 \%(1.3-4.0$</tex> GHz) with VSWR<2, ensuring broad coverage of key wireless communication standards. Simulation results demonstrate a peak gain exceeding 9.0 dBi and excellent polarization purity, with cross-polarization levels below 20 dB across the operating band. With its compact footprint, wideband performance, and high radiation efficiency, this antenna is ideally suited for nextgeneration base stations and space-constrained wireless access point deployments.
CB-CPW Fed SRR Loaded ISM and 5G Low Profile Antenna for On-Body Healthcare Monitor Thangavelu Shanmuganantham, Srinivasan Ashok Kumar, Dhanapalan Sindhahaiselvi Progress in Electromagnetics Research M, 2022 This paper explores a loaded conductor backed coplanar waveguide (CB-CPW) split ring resonator (SRR) fed U-slot planar antenna used for healthcare monitoring via the wireless scientific industrial medical (ISM) band and medical service band at fifth generation (5G-MSB). The antenna has been designed with bio-tissue layers, muscle layers, skin, and fat. The parameters of the designed antennas, such as miniaturization, increased gain, and enhanced bandwidth, are presented. The proposed prototype results in the total size of 640mm3. Such designed antenna has been operated at (3.4–3.6)GHz — fifth-generation medical service band and at (2.38–2.48)GHz — industrial scientific band and can realize proximately omnidirectional radiation pattern over the operating bands.
Design and analysis of metamaterial loaded microstrip slotted patch antenna for wireless applications K. Sajith, T. Shanmuganantham, D. Sindhahaiselvi Lecture Notes in Electrical Engineering, 2020 The development in the presentation of novel microstrip slotted patch antenna geometry by the use of a circular SRR at the rear side of the ground is proposed. This improved performance has been achieved in the terms of significant addition of bands, better reflection coefficient and enhanced bandwidth and gain at the different resonant frequencies in the final stage design. The prototype has been built through the iterations of a novel geometry, introduction of slots in the second stage and finally the insertion of a split-ring resonator of circular shape at the rear side of the dielectric substrate in the third stage. Coaxial feeding technique has been employed to excite the structure at its fundamental frequency of operation. The slots embedded into the patch structure and the modified ground geometry not only scale the number of resonant frequencies, the corresponding gain and bandwidth but also provide for impedance matching at the different sideband frequencies of resonance. The anticipated prototype possibly will be used for radiolocation purpose at the design frequency of 2.73 GHz and also at the sideband frequencies of 9.11 and 9.32 GHz, fixed satellite at 4.47 and 8.81 GHz, mobile applications except aeronautical mobile at 5.67 and 7.81 GHz and for fixed mobile applications at 7.1 GHz. The final two design stages have been fabricated, and an untried verification has naked their performance to be in close approximation to the simulated ones.

Sindhanaiselvi Lecture Notes in Electrical Engineering, 2020 This paper describes the conductor backed coplanar waveguide (CB-CPW) fed with split ring resonator (SRR) biological planar U-slot antenna for ECG monitoring applications. The antenna is designed through bio-tissue layers like skin, fat, and muscle layers. The designed antenna covers the frequency bands of the industrial scientific medical band (ISM band) 2.36–2.48 GHz and fifth-generation medical service band (5G MSB) 3.4–3.6 GHz. The lowest value return loss is 18 dB at 2.41 GHz and 41 dB at 3.6 GHz for U-slot SRR loaded antenna. The reflection coefficient, voltage standing wave ratio; far-field plots are presented.
