Oxidative Annulations of N-Aryl Glycine Esters: Access to Quinolines and Quinoline-Fused Lactones/Lactams Vikash Kumar, Ashutosh Dey, Megha Kumari, Rohit Kumar Maurya, Kishor Padala, Mahender Khatravath Asian Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2026 In recent years, oxidative dehydrogenative transformations such as cross‐dehydrogenative coupling (CDC) and double oxidative dehydrogenative coupling (DOD) or cyclization reactions have emerged as powerful and sustainable methods for the construction of quinolines and quinoline‐fused lactones and lactams from N ‐aryl glycine derivatives. N ‐aryl glycine esters, owing to their dual reactivity, have proven especially versatile in these annulation processes, enabling efficient C─C and C─N bond formation without the need for prefunctionalized substrates. This review highlights recent progress in oxidative methodologies, with an emphasis on mechanistic aspects, catalytic systems, and synthetic applications leading to quinolines and quinoline‐fused lactones/lactams.

Through SET and LMCT pathways, iron enables broad reactivity, sustainability, and efficient visible-light-driven synthesis.
Trimethylsilyl Triflate as an Efficient Catalyst for Intramolecular and Intermolecular Carbonyl-Alkyne Metathesis Reactions Mahender Khatravath, Rohit Kumar Maurya, Ashutosh Dey, Vikash Kumar Synlett, 2025 Trimethylsilyl triflate has emerged as a powerful and versatile Lewis acid catalyst in organic synthesis, offering high efficiency under mild reaction conditions. It is known for its strong electrophilic activation and is widely used for C–C bond formation, heterocyclic synthesis, and protecting-group transformations. Herein, a straightforward synthesis of various biologically and synthetically important compounds, including 2H-chromenes, coumarins, furans, pyrans, and chalcones, has been achieved through carbonyl–alkyne metathesis reactions with trimethylsilyl triflate as a Lewis acid catalyst.
Synthesis of Fused Isoxazoles via Intramolecular Nitrile Oxide Cycloaddition Vikash Kumar, Ashutosh Dey, Rohit Kumar Maurya, Megha Kumari, Mahender Khatravath Chemistryselect, 2025 We report an efficient and straightforward strategy for the synthesis of substituted dihydrofuro[3,4‐c]isoxazoles and dihydro‐4H‐pyrano[4,3‐c]isoxazoles via intramolecular nitrile oxide cycloaddition (INOC) reactions of aldoximes, employing (diacetoxyiodo)benzene (PIDA/DIB/PhI(OAc)₂) as a single, cost‐effective oxidizing agent. This method enables the practical and economical synthesis of structurally diverse and highly functionalized oxygen‐bridged isoxazole derivatives under mild reaction condition with short reaction time.
A Review on Synthesis of Polyketide Natural Products and Polyketide Building Blocks Based on Hydroxy-Directed Nitrile Oxide Cycloaddition Reaction Megha Kumari, Ashutosh Dey, Mahender Khatravath Asian Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2025 Hydroxy‐directed nitrile oxide cycloaddition represents an underexplored strategy, though it is offering the regio, enantio and diastereo selective methods for the formation of isoxazolidines as latent aldol products. This approach offering unique regio‐ and stereoselectivity in constructing complex polyketide frameworks, leveraging hydroxy groups as directing agents, has the potential to expand synthetic methodologies for diverse applications in organic and medicinal chemistry. This review article covers the synthetic reports of polyketide building blocks/ natural products involving Hydroxy‐directed nitrile oxide cycloaddition as the key reaction. We believe that summarizing these methods would grab the attention of chemists who are aware and can explore this unique methodology for the synthesis of complex known polyketide natural products.
Recent Advances on Synthesis of 2H-Chromenes, and Chromenes Fused Hetrocyclic Compounds Rohit Kumar Maurya, Ashutosh Dey, Vikash Kumara, Mahender Khatravath Asian Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2024 Chromenes and 2H‐Chromenes are vital components of natural products, pharmaceuticals, and agrochemicals that have captured the attention of researchers worldwide. These heterocyclic compounds represent an essential class of structural scaffolds, and the quest for their synthesis in a mild and straightforward way has gained significant momentum. Chromenes are oxygen‐containing heterocycles that have been widely studied due to their potential medicinal properties. In the last two decades, researchers have made remarkable progress towards the synthesis of chromene based heterocyclic compounds using O‐propargylated benzaldehydes as a substrate. These substrates are highly versatile and contain functional groups that make them ideal for a wide range of reactions. This review article provides an in‐depth analysis of the latest advances in alkynes’ functionalization, emphasizing the substrate scope, limitations, regioselectivity control, and applications of these reactions. The review also covers a range of critical methods and strategies, including multicomponent reactions, used for the general synthesis of numerous types of chromene derivatives.
