Structural, morphological, opto-luminescence and magnetic behavioral variations of Co–ZnS hybrid nanoparticles N. Manivannan, B. Chandar Shekar, C. K. Senthil Kumaran, S. Sugapriya Indian Journal of Physics, 2020 Co-doped ZnS hybrid nanoparticles were synthesized by chemical precipitation method. XRD peaks were shifted toward higher angle with increasing dopant concentration, which were corresponding to the structural changes in the presence of Co. Chemical compositions of the prepared materials were confirmed by EDAX. High-resolution transmission electron micrographs (HRTEM) revealed finger print appearance and are corresponding to miller indices of ZnS, confirming the quantum size of the prepared nanoparticles. The particle size was found to vary from 2 to 4 nm. The results of the selected area electron diffraction (SAED) are in agreement with the XRD results. The peaks observed between 616 and 1103 cm −1 are ascribed to cobalt and sulfur bond. The higher band gap energy obtained for the prepared nanoparticles as compared to bulk ZnS from the DRS spectra revealed quantum confinement. The intensity of the photoluminescence (PL) was found to increase with the decrease in crystallite size. The observe increase of the PL intensity is due to quantum size effect. The magnetization (M–H curve) measured at room temperature exhibited saturated hysteresis loop for higher Co concentration indicating the ferromagnetic nature of the prepared nanoparticles.

Effect of annealing on TiO2 nanoparticles S. Sugapriya, R. Sriram, S. Lakshmi Optik, 2013 TiO 2 nanoparticles have been prepared by simple chemical precipitation method and annealed at different temperatures. The as-prepared TiO 2 are amorphous, and they transform into anatase phase on annealing at 450 °C, and rutile phase on annealing at 900 °C. The X-ray diffraction results showed that TiO 2 nanoparticles with grain size in the range of 21–24 nm for anatase phase and 69–74 nm for rutile phase have been obtained. FESEM images show the formation of TiO 2 nanoparticles with small size in structure. The FTIR and Raman spectra exhibited peaks corresponding to the anatase and rutile structure phases of TiO 2 . Optical absorption studies reveal that the absorption edge shifts towards longer wavelength (red shift) with increase of annealing temperature.

Change of phase by annealing on TiO2 nanoparticles Sugapriya Subbaiyan, Sriram Rangarajalu, Lakshmi Sriram Russian Journal of Applied Chemistry, 2013 The decomposition of silver selenide and sulfide to metallic silver and chalcogen containing oxygen compounds by sintering with an equimolar mixture of sodium nitrate and nitrite was examined. It was found that 100% recovery of silver in a metal phase is reached at 5% excess of sodium nitrate and nitrite and a time of the isothermal exposure at 375 °C for 1 hour or 0.5 hours at 400°C.
Synthesis and characterization of silver nanowires Subbaiyan Sugapriya, Rangarajalu Sriram, Sriram Lakshmi Advanced Materials Research, 2013 Silver nanowires have been synthesized by polyol process with ethylene glycol as solvent and PVP as capping agent. The silver nanowires have been characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), and Transmission electron microscope (TEM) techniques. The prepared silver nanowires were found to exhibit face-centered cubic (fcc) structure. The diameter of the prepared silver nanowires have been found to lie in the range of 60 - 80 nm and the length of the wires have been observed to be in the range of 10-20 µm. The I-V characteristics have been carried out to study the conducting behavior of the prepared silver nanowires.
Structural and electrical conductivity of zno nano bi-pyramids-like structure Subbaiyan Sugapriya, Rangarajalu Sriram, Sriram Lakshmi Lecture Notes in Mechanical Engineering, 2012 In this paper, we report the structural and electrical properties of ZnO nano bi-pyramid-like structure synthesized by a one-step process of hydrothermal redox route. X-ray diffraction (XRD) result shows that the prepared ZnO exhibits hexagonal phase and no secondary phase was observed. The crystallite size has been calculated by Scherrer’s equation and was found to be in the range 30–50 nm. SEM images reveal that ZnO nano bi-pyramid-like structure has been formed which has a length of ~4.5 μm and base of ~4 μm. The I–V characteristics have been carried out to study the electrical behavior of the prepared ZnO nano bi-pyramid-like structure.
