An efficient enantioselective synthesis of P -chirogenic phosphine(oxide)s with a non-atropoisomeric biaryl substituent or bridge was reported. The method was based on two key steps. First, the enantioselective synthesis of P -chirogenic o -halogenophenylphosphine oxides was achieved with complete retention of configuration at the P atom, by one-pot reaction of secondary phosphine oxides (SPOs) with benzyne, in situ generated from 1,2-dibromo- or -diiodobenzene. The P -chirogenic SPOs were enantioselectively prepared by successive acid hydrolysis of aminophosphine boranes derived from (+)- or (−)-ephedrine and then decomplexation of the phosphinous acid borane intermediate by CF 3 SO 3 H or HBF 4 . The high enantioselectivity of the SPO preparation was herein improved by neutralization at low temperature after acid decomplexation of the phosphinous acid borane. Second, the arylation of the P -chirogenic o -halogenophenylphosphine oxides into o -biaryl derivatives was enantioselectively achieved using a Pd-catalyzed cross-coupling reactions with boron reagents. The stereoselective deoxygenation of biarylphosphine oxides was demonstrated using a mixture of polymethylhydrosiloxane and titanium(IV)isopropoxide as a reductive agent. At the end, the homocoupling of o -iodophenylphosphine oxide into non-atropoisomeric P -chirogenic diphosphine oxide borne by a simple biphenyl bridge was demonstrated using the Ullmann reaction in the presence of copper. Indeed, this enantioselective synthesis of P -chirogenic o -halogenophenylphosphine oxides from SPOs opens up an efficient new way to afford numerous classes of chiral phosphorus compounds, notably bearing a non-atropoisomeric biaryl substituent or bridge. - Tuning of the Optical Properties of Cis- and Trans-Bis-Tetrazo[1,2-b]indazoles Guided by Predictive DFT: An Isomer Story

We report the synthesis and structure‐property relationships of a new family of nitrogen‐rich polyaromatic derivatives, namely cis ‐ and trans ‐tetrazo[1,2‐ b ]indazoles. Through density functional theory (DFT)‐guided molecular engineering, substituents were introduced at selected positions on the polyaromatic scaffold via a modular strategy. The spectroscopic (absorption and emission) and redox (cyclic voltammetry) properties of these derivatives, though occasionally counterintuitive, were accurately predicted by DFT calculations and rationalized through molecular orbital interactions. Depending on the isomer ( cis / trans ), the nature of the substituents and their position, we achieved either intense luminescence in the visible range or near infrared (NIR) absorption up to 1050 nm, while maintaining an excellent electron affinity. This work highlights the versatility of the tetrazo[1,2‐ b ]indazole scaffold and its potential for precise fine‐tuning of the electronic properties of advanced functional materials. - Phenoxy-Amidine (FA) Titanium and Zirconium Complexes: Synthesis, Structure, and Use in Olefin Polymerization

Herein, we report the synthesis of a series of new bis(phenoxy-amidine) dichloro and bis(dimethylamido) Ti and Zr complexes [(FA) 2 MX 2 ]. In the solid state, all the structures showed a distorted octahedral geometry around the metal center with the same O- trans, N - cis, X- cis configuration. Remarkably, NMR spectroscopic study of (FA) 2 MX 2 complexes in solution shows that all complexes exist only as a C 2 -symmetric isomer. The direct alkylation of (L4) 2 TiCl 2 and (L4) 2 ZrCl 2 by two equivalents of PhCH 2 MgCl and/or Me 3 SiCH 2 MgCl yielded the corresponding dialkyl complexes without alkylation of the amidine moieties. The (FA) 2 Ti and Zr complexes are active in ethylene polymerization upon activation by MAO at 25–50 °C in toluene, at 5 bar ethylene pressure, providing linear (ultra) high-molecular-weight PE ( M w up to 2,154,000 g·mol –1 for the soluble fraction), yet with very broad distributions ( M w /M n = 14–408), testifying an abundant multisite behavior. Complexes with t Bu substituents on the ligand aryloxy ring showed better polymerization productivity (up to 230 kg PE ·mol cat –1 ·h – 1 ). The (L4) 2 MX 2 complexes, upon activation with MAO, are also slightly active toward styrene (2 to 39 kg PS ·mol cat –1 ·h – 1 at 25–100 °C) giving polystyrenes with an atactic microstructure and molecular weight characteristics ( Đ = 1.77–1.86) indicative of a single-site behavior. - Synthesis and Functional Properties of Fluorinated Phosphonate-Substituted Porphyrins: Excellent Photosensitizers and Robust Precursors for Photoactive Langmuir–Schaefer Films

Fluorinated porphyrins have attracted considerable attention in PDT, sensing and catalysis. Guided by demands for functional porphyrins with tunable electronic properties, high photostability, and controlled supramolecular organization, we report a synthetic approach to meso ‐tetrakis[4‐(diethoxyphosphoryl)‐2,3,5,6‐tetrafluorophenyl]porphyrin (H 2 TF 4 PPP), which combines the advantages of diethyl phosphonate and fluorine substituents within a highly symmetrical porphyrin molecule. X‐ray diffraction analysis of H 2 TF 4 PPP reveals that diethyl phosphonates govern the crystal packing, while the macrocycles avoid π–π stacking. Zn(II) and Pd(II) complexes with H 2 TF 4 PPP were prepared in high yields. In contrast, insertion of In(III) ions exhibiting strong Lewis acidity was accompanied by partial hydrolysis of phosphonate groups. H 2 TF 4 PPP and its Zn(II) and Pd(II) complexes efficiently generate singlet oxygen displaying a good solubility in various organic solvents. The noble‐metal‐free porphyrin H 2 TF 4 PPP surpasses Pd(II) complex of non‐fluorinated analogue (PdTPPP) in photocatalytic performance, enabling sustainable oxidation of sulfides to sulfoxides with oxygen. H 2 TF 4 PPP forms a stable Langmuir monolayer which can be transferred onto solid substrates, yielding dense single‐layer films containing fiber‐shaped nanoparticles. The films thus obtained are emissive and their photostability surpasses that of H 2 TPPP films. Water‐soluble porphyrins H 2 TF 4 PPP‐A and PdTF 4 PPP‐A with phosphonic acid groups were also prepared and briefly investigated. - Crystal Structures of Two New Polymorphic forms of Pinaverium Bromide: a Solvate and a Dihydrate

Abstract The polymorphism of pinaverium bromide has been further explored by characterizing two novel crystalline forms: a solvate with isopropanol and a dihydrate. The crystal structures of both forms were determined using single crystal X-ray diffraction. These new forms are compared to the previously reported anhydrous polymorph [1]. All three forms exhibit distinct packing motifs, crystal systems, and intermolecular interactions. The solvate crystallizes in the triclinic system with the inclusion of two isopropanol molecules per asymmetric unit, the dihydrate adopts a triclinic arrangement involving two water molecules in a hydrogen-bonded network. Structural analysis highlights the role of solvent interactions in crystal stabilization and polymorph selection. These findings contribute to a deeper understanding of the solid-state behaviour of pinaverium bromide, a clinically used antispasmodic agent [2, 3]. - Synthesis and Structural Characterization of Manganese(I) Complexes Ligated by 2-Azabutadienes (ArS)2C=C(H)-N=CPh2

The thioether-functionalized 2-azabutadienes (ArS)2C=C(H)-N=CPh2 (L1 Ar = Ph, L2 Ar = p-Tol) ligate to [Mn(CO)5Br] to form the octahedral five-membered S, N-chelate complexes fac-[MnBr(CO)3{(ArS)2C=C(H)-N=CPh2] (1 Ar = Ph; 2 Ar = p-Tol), whose crystal structures have been solved by X-ray diffraction. Complex 1 crystallizes in the non-centrosymmetric orthorhombic space group P212121, whereas 2 crystallizes in the triclinic space group P1¯. We report the synthesis of four bis( o, p - t Bu-phenoxy-amidine) ligands (FAlen) with dimethylamino-, pyrrolidine-, and piperidine-substituted amidines and a phenylene or a maleonitrile amidine bridge. We examined the coordination chemistry of these ligands toward Zn and the potential of this combination as a catalyst in the cycloaddition of CO 2 to epoxide and in the ROP of rac -LA. FAlen ligands were shown to greatly differ from their parent bis(salicylaldimine) ligands (aka salen) in how they coordinate to Zn. In the solid state, the complexes were found as dinuclear tetracoordinated Zn complexes with the two FAlen ligands bridging the metal centers in an asymmetric μ-κ 1,κ 3 manner. In solution, these dinuclear structures most often vanished even in noncoordinating solvent to afford mononuclear tetracoordinated species. The FAlen–Zn complexes were found to be less active than their salen–Zn counterparts in the catalytic cycloaddition of CO 2 with styrene epoxide. Conversely, the FAlen–Zn complexes were shown to be highly active for the ROP of rac -LA, whereas the parent salen–Zn complex exhibited no activity. A kinetic study performed with the most active complex 1 showed a first order in rac -LA, Zn complex, and i PrOH. DFT calculations revealed two possible low-energy-barrier ROP mechanisms: an amidine-assisted activated monomer mechanism or a very unusual zincate-amidinium hydrogen-bonding mechanism. - Near-infrared emitting aza-BODIPY fluorophores, impact of N,N-dialkylamino groups on the photophysical properties: synthesis, characterization, and computational studies
