    Heat stress in dairy cattle is a significant challenge due to rising temperatures, which negatively impact their health, productivity, and reproduction. To address this, a real-time monitoring system is developed using multiple sensors, including a temperature and humidity sensor, the MLX90614 infrared sensor for measuring surface temperature, and the MAX30102 pulse oximeter to track pulse rate. In addition,a 3D accelerometer is used to analyze cattle movement patterns. The system employs the STM32BL475E-IOT1A microcontroller to process sensor data, determine the Temperature Humidity Index (THI), and classify cattle activity into three categories: idle,walking, and running.By using NanoEdgeAI, the system executes on-device machine learning for real-time activity classification and behavior analysis. The data is indicated on a local screen and transmitted via Wi-Fi to a web-based dashboard, allowing farmers to monitor cattle health and movement remotely.This intelligent monitoring solution optimizes farm management, enhances animal welfare, and precludes productivity losses caused by heat stress and abnormal activity patterns.
  • Sol-gel Derived ZnO/SnO2 Bilayer Heterojunctions for Selective VOC Detection

    Layered ZnO/SnO<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">2</inf> heterojunction thin films were fabricated by a sequential sol-gel route to enhance gas sensing performance toward common volatile organics. ZnO and SnO<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">2</inf> precursor solutions was deposited layer by layer using hand draw coating onto glass substrate. The bilayers were dried between coats and annealed at 550<sup xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">○</sup>C for crystallization.TEM revealed the nano crystalline well contacted interface with an average grain size of 0.35nm for SnO<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">2</inf> and 0.28nm for ZnO. Selected Area Electron Diffraction (SAED) patterns confirmed the presence of hexagonal wurtzite ZnO and tetragonal rutile SnO<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">2</inf> phases. Current-Voltage measurements across interdigiated electrodes revealed linear ohmic behavior indicating good electrical contact enabling for detection of gas sensing. The ZnO/SnO<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">2</inf> heterojunction exhibit faster response and recovery times and peak sensitivity observed for ethanol sensing. The response and recovery at 100ppm ethanol were about 15s and 9s respectively with response of 132 which is five times larger than acetone and other VOC vapors under identical conditions.These findings indicating that sol-gel processed ZnO/SnO<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">2</inf> heterojunction annealed at 550<sup xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">○</sup>C provides platform for room temperature detection of oxygenated VOCs with improved sensitivity.
  • Sunstroke Detection and Alert System for Farmers

    Sunstroke is a serious medical condition, particularly for farmers who work throughout prolonged periods of heat. This project proposes a Sunstroke Alerting and Detection System accompanied by a mobile app that will maintain the farmers in contact with their caretakers. The system uses sensors to monitor the health of the farmer by sensing environmental temperature, humidity, body temperature, heart rate, and SpO2 level to reach pre-sunstroke. When the system reports critical levels of these parameters, Dfmini player module alerts farmer via speaker and GSM module alerts their caretakers. Also, the caretaker receives update from the mobile application on if farmer has seen the notifications or not. The system also provides the farmer's illness, enabling the caretaker to administer treatment if the farmer gets sick because of ignoring the warnings while still working in the fields.
  • Parallel Prefix Adders Based Linear Congruential Generator

    In cryptography pseudo-random generators play a key role; to generate these random bits linear congruential generator is implemented with different parallel prefix adders to increase the speed of operation. LCG module consists of a shifter, adder, multiplexer, and register. In parallel prefix adders, the operation is performed in parallel by dividing into smaller pieces that are done in parallel. To further reduce the number of grey cells and black cells Ladner-Fischer adder is implemented for further reduction in the proposed LCG. In the place of the adder is replaced with different adder structures and is verified with different FPGA families for the utilization and timing report. The architecture is implemented using Verilog HDL, simulated, and synthesized using Vivado.
  • Helmet Guard: Engine Management and Accident Severity Assessment for Motorcycles

    Motorcycle safety systems traditionally face limitations in engine control, accident assessment, and rider protection. This paper introduces a solution that enhances engine management employs machine learning for accurate accident severity analysis, and incorporates alcohol detection with accelerometer-based tilt assessment designed for motorcycles. This project mandates helmet usage before the engine starts, ensuring the rider’s safety. The system concurrently monitors critical factors such as alcohol concentration and tilt angles and deactivates the engine upon detecting irregularities. This innovative approach helps make riding motorcycles safer and smarter by overcoming previous problems. It represents a significant advancement, promising enhanced security and intelligence on the road.

    The dairy industry plays a crucial role in the global food supply chain, and with the advent of technology, it is evolving rapidly. This work introduces an AI model for monitoring the health of cattle. Traditional dairy farming methods are often labour intensive and reliant on manual monitoring, which can lead to inefficiencies and reduced profitability. Cattle health monitoring by integrating artificial intelligence (AI) with the STM32BL475IOT1A microcontroller. The key innovation lies in an AI model developed for the STM32BL475IOT1A. It is capable of analyzing sensor inputs to detect and predict various health parameters in cattle like temperature, and pulse rate of the cattle by developing an artificial neural network (ANN) in Python that can predict the health of cattle.
  • Chest CT Image based Lung Disease Classification – A Review

    Computed tomography (CT) scans are widely used to diagnose lung conditions due to their ability to provide a detailed overview of the body's respiratory system. Despite its popularity, visual examination of CT scan images can lead to misinterpretations that impede a timely diagnosis. Utilizing technology to evaluate images for disease detection is also a challenge. As a result, there is a significant demand for more advanced systems that can accurately classify lung diseases from CT scan images. In this work, we provide an extensive analysis of different approaches and their performances that can help young researchers to build more advanced systems. First, we briefly introduce diagnosis and treatment procedures for various lung diseases. Then, a brief description of existing methods used for the classification of lung diseases is presented. Later, an overview of the general procedures for lung disease classification using machine learning (ML) is provided. Furthermore, an overview of recent progress in ML-based classification of lung diseases is provided. Finally, existing challenges in ML techniques are presented. It is concluded that deep learning techniques have revolutionized the early identification of lung disorders. We expect that this work will equip medical professionals with the awareness they require in order to recognize and classify certain medical disorders.
