Initial test results show that the brick has high resistance to thermal shock, with a thermal expansion value of -0.3% cold crushing strength of 63.4 Mpa, bulk density of 3.22 g/cm3, porosity of 12.76% and thermal conductivity ranging from 2.8 to 2.9 W/m.K.
Effect of microwave post-Treatment on the production of activated carbon from Spinosum Cottonii seaweed for supercapacitor electrodes Nur Halimahtus Sadiyah, Diah Susanti, Hariyati Purwaningsih, Fathan Bahfie, Suresh Sagadevan Iop Conference Series Earth and Environmental Science, 2025 Seaweed, a plant with high carbon content and abundant availability in Indonesia, is a promising raw material for electrode fabrication to enhance supercapacitor performance. This study aimed to analyze the effect of microwave irradiation duration on the capacitive properties of activated carbon (AC) electrodes for supercapacitors. AC was synthesized using KOH as an activating agent and pyrolyzed at 800°C. Later, microwave irradiation was applied at 200 watts for durations of 10, 12, and 17 minutes. The resulting AC electrodes were assembled into a coin cell configuration with a polymer hydrogel electrolyte membrane comprising distilled water and H3PO4 placed between the electrodes. The characterization of material was conducted by X-ray Diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) EDX, and Fourier Transform Infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and the electrochemical performance of supercapacitor were analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively based on Cyclic Voltammetry (CV), Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS), and Galvanostatic Charge Discharge (GCD) At a scan rate of 5 mV/s, the specific capacitances of AC supercapacitor electrodes, resulting from microwave irradiation durations of 10, 12, and 17 minutes, were 113.2 F/g, 238.1 F/g, and 337.8 F/g, respectively. SAA-BET analysis confirmed an increase in surface area with longer microwave irradiation durations, correlating with higher specific capacitance values.
Preparation of rGO/MnO2 Composites through Simultaneous Graphene Oxide Reduction by Electrophoretic Deposition Hariyati Purwaningsih, Ni Made Intan Putri Suari, Widiyastuti Widiyastuti, Heru Setyawan ACS Omega, 2022 We report the preparation of manganese dioxide (MnO2) nanoparticles and graphene oxide (GO) composites reduced by an electrophoretic deposition (EPD) process. The MnO2 nanoparticles were prepared by the electrolysis of an acidic KMnO4 solution using an alternating monopolar arrangement of a multiple-electrode system. The particles produced were γ-MnO2 with a rod-like morphology and a surface area of approximately 647.2 m2/g. The GO particles were produced by the oxidation of activated coconut shell charcoal using a modified Hummers method. The surface area of the GO produced was very high, with a value of approximately 2525.9 m2/g. Fourier transform infrared spectra indicate that a significant portion of the oxygen-containing functional groups was removed from the GO by electrochemical reduction during the EPD process after sufficient time following deposition of the GO. The composite obtained by the EPD process was composed of reduced graphene oxide (rGO) and γ-MnO2 and exhibited excellent electrocatalytic activity toward the oxygen reduction reaction following a two-electron transfer mechanism. This approach opens the possibility for assembling rGO composites in an efficient and effective manner for electrocatalysis.
Synthesis and characterization of magnetite/graphene nanocomposite material for electrocatalyst of zinc-Air battery chatode Hariyati Purwaningsih, Widiyastuti Widiyastuti, Heru Setyawan Aip Conference Proceedings, 2021 One of the most important parts of the metal-air battery is the cathode, which must have the requirements of good catalytic and porosity properties. Nowadays, the common material used as a cathode electrocatalyst on metal-air battery is platinum because of its superior properties. However, the scarcity and the expensive price cause platinum no longer to be the right choice, in hence we need to develop an alternative material for cathode electrocatalyst. The transition metal oxide is considered due to its high abundance, low cost, and environmentally friendly. Magnetite-Fe3O4 has great potential to be developed as electrocatalyst because of its excellent catalytic properties. However, other materials are needed to support electrical conductivity and porosity. Therefore, in this study, Fe3O4/graphene-like nanomaterial was synthesized as an electrocatalyst of metal-air battery cathode. In this research, magnetite-Fe3O4 synthesis with electrochemically method using multielectrode from solid waste iron plate, whereas graphene-like nanomaterial had synthesized from coconut shell charcoal with a series process of calcination-Hummer method modification-chemical reduction treatments. Magnetite-Fe3O4/graphene-like nanocomposites were fabricated using powder ball mill method and compacted as dense material. This approach offers pure magnetite phase from solid waste iron. The reaction pathways leading to this new morphology and structure have been discussed. Magnetite-Fe3O4/graphene-like composite had specific surface area between 393 - 542 m2/g with pore size of 5.1 - 6.8 nm which is classified as mesoporous material. It observed that Fe3O4 distributed on the graphene-like surface to formed particulate composite. Fe3O4/graphene-like composite shown good ability as electrocatalytic and showed oxygen reduction capability.
The rGO/CuO composite materials as photocatalyst for CO2conversion into methanol under UV light Diah Susanti, Yeny Widya Rakhmawati, Lukman Noerochim, Hariyati Purwaningsih, Haniffudin Nurdiansah Aip Conference Proceedings, 2021 CO2 is a pollutant gas resulting from the combustion of fossil fuel and organic matters. As the population increases, the consumption of fossil fuel also increases. As a consequence, the production of CO2 increases but the fossil fuel stocks decrease. CO2 gas causes some environmental and health problems. In this research, CO2 was converted into methanol, a renewable energy source, by using rGO/CuO composite material as photocatalyst under UV irradiation as a simulation of the sunlight. In this way, the two problems could be solved, the CO2 polution and the energy crisis. rGO was prepared by modified Hummer method and CuO was prepared by hydrothermal method. In this experiment, the composition of rGO in the composite was 2.5%. CO2 gas was flown for 5 min with a flow rate of 1 slpm. The UV irradiation time was varied 2, 2.5 and 3 hours. X-Ray Diffractometer and Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) were used to characterize the structure and morphology of material respectively. Gas Chromatography Mass Spectrophotometer (GC-MS) was used to quantify the resulted methanol. As a result, the highest methanol production was 1970.1 mmole/(hour gram catalyst) after irradiated by UV light for 2.5 hours.
The effect of magnesium doping on the structure and conductivity of NASICON as solid electrolyte Vania Mitha Pratiwi, Lukman Noerochiem, Widyastuti, Hariyati Purwaningsih, Diah Susanti, Fakhri Akbar Maulana Aip Conference Proceedings, 2021 One of the problems that exist in the secondary sodium ion battery is the low working temperature of the electrolyte, which makes it easy to explode when exposed to free air. The type of solid electrolyte that can be used in high temperatures is NASICON (Natrium Super Ionic Conductor). In this study, magnesium was added to the NASICON structure to increase the ion conductivity of the solid electrolyte as a sodium ion-based battery electrolyte material. The synthesis method used is the solid-state reaction method by mixing sodium carbonate, silicon dioxide, zirconium oxide, ammonium dihydrogen phosphate, magnesium oxide and some anhydrous ethanol into a ball mill for 12 hours, dried at 80°C for 12 hours then calcined at temperature 1125 ° C for 12 hours with a heating rate of 2 ° C minute−1. Then the material is pressed at 15 MPa to produce pellets with a diameter of 10 mm and the sintering process is carried out at a temperature of 1175 ° C for 12 hours at a speed of 1 ° C minute−1. The doping used varies from 0 to 5 mol% of magnesium. XRD results showed that all variations showed a rhombohedral phase. The highest ionic conductivity value was 8.59 x 10−4 S.cm−1 with a magnesium doping variation of 2 mol%.
Biobased PLA/sugarcane bagasse fiber composites: Effect of fiber characteristics and interfacial adhesion on properties András Bartos, Kristóf Nagy, Juliana Anggono, Antoni, Hariyati Purwaningsih, János Móczó, Béla Pukánszky Composites Part A Applied Science and Manufacturing, 2021 PLA/sugarcane bagasse fiber composites were prepared by injection molding from two fractions of fibers with different fiber characteristics, which were determined before and after processing. Interfacial adhesion was modified by a maleated PLA coupling agent. The mechanical properties of the composites were characterized by tensile and impact testing, while local deformation processes by acoustic emission testing and microscopy. The results showed that considerable attrition takes place during melt processing in both the length and diameter of the fibers. The originally different batches of short and long fibers have similar dimensions after processing. Interfacial adhesion between PLA and bagasse is inherently good, thus coupling does not improve properties. Shear yielding and fiber fracture consume sufficiently energy to increase the impact resistance. Sugarcane bagasse fibers considerably increase the stiffness of PLA, result in almost constant tensile strength and increase impact resistance yielding a material with reasonable combination of properties for structural applications.
Deposition and post heat treatment of ni-Al/Ni-20Cr on AISI 4140 using twin wire arc spray method A. Purniawan, D. A. K. Hapsari, H. Purwaningsih Aip Conference Proceedings, 2020 Boiler generates heat from combustion and transfers to change the water to steam phase. The boiler consists of several components, one of them is superheater tube. High temperature corrosion often attacks the superheater tube material causes material failure. This study aims to deposit Ni-Al and Ni-20Cr on AISI 4140 using twin wire arc spray method as barrier coating. Gas pressure during process was varied of 3 bar, 4 bar, 5 bar, and 6 bar followed by annealing to reduce porosity of the coating product. Characterization to investigate the morphology of the coating surface using SEM shows that the increase pressure causes small surface particles that affects to decrease porosity. Porosity at pressure 3 bar is 15.43% while at pressure 6 bar is 10,35%. In addition, the annealing process has contribution to reduce the porosity till 3% for pressure 6 bar. The hardness of the coating is also influenced by the pressure and the annealing process.
