Unified framework for precise background modeling to enhance rare event detection at the Kuo-Sheng reactor-neutrino laboratory Subhasis Parhi, Lakhwinder Singh, Manoj Kumar Singh, Henry Tsz-King Wong, Venktesh Singh Journal of Instrumentation, 2026 A comprehensive GEANT4 simulation framework is developed to model the background of the TEXONO experiment, considering contributions from radioactive isotopes in both the detector components and the ambient environment. In this framework, the HPGe detector's front-end electronics (pre-amplifier) are modeled to contain trace amounts of naturally occurring radionuclides 238 U, 232 Th, and 235 U from manufacturing materials. The results confirm that the decay chains of 238 U and 232 Th dominate the background in this region. The observed background contributions from both isotopes are at the 𝒪(1) counts kg -1 keV -1 day -1 for energies below 400 keV. Trace radioisotopic impurities were introduced into the anti-Compton veto (ACV) detectors to reflect realistic material compositions: 40 K was incorporated in the NaI(Tl) crystal consistent with its natural isotopic abundance, and 137 Cs was included in the CsI(Tl) detector, representing a common anthropogenic contaminant. The analysis identifies minor yet measurable background components originating from 40 K in the NaI(Tl) ACV detector and 137 Cs in the CsI(Tl) scintillator. The residual spectrum is dominated by 40 K γ -rays, with smaller components from 137 Cs, in agreement with simulation results. The background rate from 40 K is uniform at ∼ 0.1 counts kg -1 keV -1 day -1 , approximately 10 times higher than that from 137 Cs below 400 keV. To incorporate environmental sources of radioactivity, simulations included isotopes 60 Co, 54 Mn, and 135 Xe distributed within the air gap between the copper end-cap and the NaI(Tl) ACV detector, representing airborne and surface-induced contamination. Although these sources contribute to the overall background (10 -2 , 10 -2 , and 0.1 counts kg -1 keV -1 day -1 below 100 keV for 135 Xe, 54 Mn, and 60 Co, respectively), their effects are well controlled and constitute only minor components of the total background. The comparison between simulated and measured spectra, while showing minor deviations at specific γ -lines, demonstrates the validity of the background model and the robustness of the simulation framework for guiding detector and shielding design.

Zhao, M. G. Zhao, J. F. Zhou, Z. Y. Zhou, J. J. Zhu, CDEX Collaboration Physical Review D, 2026 We present the first results of the search for sub-MeV fermionic dark matter absorbed by electron targets of germanium using the 205.4 kg · day data collected by the CDEX-10 experiment, with the analysis threshold of 160 eVee. No significant dark matter (DM) signals over the background are observed. Results are presented as limits on the cross section of DM–electron interaction. We present new constraints of cross section in the DM range of 0.1 – 10 keV / c 2 for vector and axial-vector interaction. The upper limit on the cross section is set to be 6.8 × 10 − 46 cm 2 for vector interaction, and 2.3 × 10 − 46 cm 2 for axial-vector interaction at DM mass of 5 keV / c 2 .
Investigation of secondary charged particles emerged in the interaction of + emulsion at 1 A GeV Manoj Kumar Singh Scientific Reports, 2025 A major challenge in understanding the process of nucleus-nucleus interactions is the examination of the processes that occur in the participant and spectator areas of interacting nuclei, considering the central nature of the reactions. Nearly thresholdless detection of the secondary charged particles is made possible by nuclear emulsion detectors (NED), which provide a complete 4π angular coverage. This work is mainly concerned with the multiplicity distributions (MD) and fluctuation of the average multiplicities of secondary charged particles (slow proton, fast proton, and shower) brought about by the collision of [Formula: see text]-nuclei with emulsion nuclei at 1 A GeV. The MD of these particles has been computed by use of a modified cascade evaporation model (MCEM). The MD of each of the several charged secondary particles is correlated and analyzed. The observation demonstrates that the theoretical calculation results for the average multiplicities of shower particles, fast and slow protons agree well with the experimental data. Correlations seen experimentally between the multiplicities of different emitted particles are faithfully reproduced by the MCEM. There is good agreement between the experimental data and the theoretical calculation results.
Constraints on new physics with light mediators and generalized neutrino interactions via coherent elastic neutrino nucleus scattering S. Karadağ, M. Deniz, S. Karmakar, M. K. Singh, M. Demirci, Greeshma C., H. B. Li, S. T. Lin, M. F. Mustamin, V. Sharma, L. Singh, M. K. Singh, V. Singh, H. T. Wong, TEXONO Collaboration Physical Review D, 2025 We investigate new physics effects on coherent elastic neutrino nucleus scattering within the framework of nonstandard interactions and generalized neutrino interactions. Additionally, we examine the possibility of light mediators from a simplified model that includes all possible Lorentz-invariant interactions of vector, axialvector, scalar, pseudoscalar, and tensor types. Constraints and allowed regions at the 90% CL for masses and couplings in each new physics scenario have been obtained through the analysis of TEXONO data, which includes two datasets from a high-purity n-type point contact germanium detector in 2016 and an advanced p-type point contact Ge detector in 2025. The results are presented in comparison with other reactor and accelerator-based neutrino experiments for complementarity.
