  • Review of intelligent transportation systems methodology models

Journal of University of Anbar for Pure Science, 2025
Intelligent transportation systems have been integrated and adapted to our daily lives. Transportation is one of the sustainable systems and an essential aspect of the shift toward a digital economy and intelligence. Here, we explore the theory of transportation services by exploring a mathematical model using queueing theory. Several methodologies have been employed for this theory, including micro- and Macro-simulation models. They have been used for the purpose of enhancing the analysis of intelligent transport systems. Intelligent transportation systems (ITS) are revolutionizing the management of transportation networks, leveraging advanced technologies to improve efficiency, safety, and sustainability. Operations research (OR) plays a crucial role in designing and optimizing these systems and providing mathematical models and computational techniques to address complex transportation challenges. This paper reviews the integration of OR methodologies and their role in developing and managing ITSs, including optimization, queuing theory, simulation, and network modeling. We assess technical applications for optimizing traffic flow, congestion, and instantaneous decisionmaking in transportation systems. OR contributes to ITS by using optimization models for route planning and traffic queue management. Simulation techniques also used to evaluate the system performance under different scenarios. The paper highlights the increasing trend of addressing multifaceted modern transportation networks by hybridizing models of multiple OR approaches. We aim to gather insight into current ITS methodology models, applications, and limitations by synthesizing recent advancements. Additionally, our aim is to identify emerging trends and future research directions, with a focus on big data, autonomous vehicles, and smart cities. This is a valuable resource in leveraging OR tools for ITS operations and designs.
  • Utilizing various statistical techniques to estimate the scale parameter for the Rayleigh distribution
    Results in Nonlinear Analysis, 2025
The purpose of this paper is to use statistical estimating techniques to estimate the scale parameter of the Rayleigh distribution (maximum likelihood, rank set sampling, Bayes, and robust Bayes estimators) under complete data.A non-Bayes estimator is obtained by rank set sampling and maximum likelihood. The inverted gamma distribution and the inverted exponential distribution based on symmetric unbalanced (squared error) and balanced (quadratic) loss functions are used as Bayesian estimators.Robust Bayes analysis for the Rayleigh distribution depends on (unbalanced and balanced) loss functions based on ML-II--contaminated class and derived under the prior contaminant distribution of the Frechet distribution. The estimators' performances are contrasted according to simulation experiments for different cases and sample sizes depending on the value for the mean squared error.

    Baghdad Science Journal, 2020
This work, deals with Kumaraswamy distribution. Kumaraswamy (1976, 1978) showed well known probability distribution functions such as the normal, beta and log-normal but in (1980) Kumaraswamy developed a more general probability density function for double bounded random processes, which is known as Kumaraswamy’s distribution. Classical maximum likelihood and Bayes methods estimator are used to estimate the unknown shape parameter (b). Reliability function are obtained using symmetric loss functions by using three types of informative priors two single priors and one double prior. In addition, a comparison is made for the performance of these estimators with respect to the numerical solution which are found using expansion method. The results showed that the reliability estimator under Rn and R3 is the best.
  • Bayesian Estimation of Reliability Burr Type XII under Al-Bayyatis' Suggest Loss Function with Numerical Solution
Amal A. Mohammed, Sudad K. Abraheem, Nadia J. Fezaa Al-Obedy
Journal of Physics Conference Series, 2018
In this paper is considered with Burr type XII distribution. The maximum likelihood, Bayes methods of estimation are used for estimating the unknown scale parameter (α). Al-Bayyatis' loss function and suggest loss function are used to find the reliability with the least loss. So the reliability function is expanded in terms of a set of power function. For this performance, the Matlab (ver.9) is used in computations and some examples are given.
