Electrochemical Iodination of Graphene Oxide via Redox Additive Electrolyte: A New Approach for High-Capacitance Supercapacitors Tanuja N. Shinde, Mangesh A. Desai, Amol S. Vedpathak, Ramchandra S. Kalubarme, Shrikrishna D. Sartale Batteries and Supercaps, 2026 Halogenated graphene oxide (GO), offers a powerful strategy to tailor its structure and enhance electrochemical performance. Incorporating halogen atoms or ions induces a hybridization shift from sp 2 to sp 3 in graphene, significantly altering its local structure and electronic properties. In this study, an eco‐friendly and rapid electrochemical method is presented using an optimized redox additive concentration of 0.6 M KI in a 3 M KOH electrolyte to introduce iodine species into the GO matrix, resulting in the formation of iodinated graphene oxide (I‐GO). The formation of I‐GO is systematically studied via Raman spectroscopy, x‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy and energy‐dispersive x‐ray spectroscopy analyses. Structural and morphological characterizations confirm the successful integration of iodine and partial reduction of GO. The I‐GO electrode demonstrated a maximum specific capacitance of 379.2 F g −1 at a current density of 3 A g −1 endorsing its excellent energy storage capacity. The fabricated I‐GO symmetric supercapacitor coin cell device shows energy density of 24.9 Wh kg −1 and power density of 11.2 kW kg −1 while maintaining 82% capacitance retention after 5000 cycles at 10 A g −1 . These findings highlight the potential of I‐GO as a promising candidate for next‐generation energy storage systems.
Hybrid Supercapacitor Performance Through Electrode Composites: Ti3C2Tx Anode and Fe3O4@Activated Carbon Cathode Integration Prashant M. Kakade, Avinash R. Kachere, Sukhada S. Bulakhe, Ji Man Kim Energy Technology, 2026 Here, we report the performance of an asymmetric supercapacitor (ASC) fabricated using a chemically synthesized Ti 3 C 2 T x MXene as an anode, a ferric oxide (Fe 3 O 4 ) (magnetite), and biomass‐derived activated carbon (AC) composite (MAC composite) as a cathode, 2 M potassium hydroxide (KOH) as an electrolyte. Ti 3 C 2 T x MXene synthesis was carried out using chemical etching processes using synthesized Ti 3 AlC 2 MAX phase. AC was synthesized using biomass (coconut shell) by carbonization and activation processes. Whereas MAC composite was prepared using the solvothermal method. Physiochemical characteristics of all samples were analyzed using X‐ray diffraction, Raman spectroscopy, field emission scanning microscopy, and HR‐TEM techniques. Specific surface areas of Ti 3 C 2 T x MXene and MAC‐7.5 was found to be 85.37 and 434.35 m 2 g −1 , respectively. The attained specific capacitance values for bare Ti 3 C 2 T x MXene and MAC‐7.5 composite are 173 F g −1 at 1 A g −1 and 1722 A g −1 at 2 A g −1 current density, respectively. Electrochemical performance of the developed ASC device displayed a 133.47 F g −1 specific capacitance at a current density of 1 A g −1 with the maximum energy and a power density of 41.71 and 512 W kg −1 , respectively. Stability performance of the ASC showed the highest retention rate of 94% after 5000 cycles.
ZnO nanoparticles synthesis by sacrificial composite monolith method and enhanced photocatalytic degradation of methylene blue dye Rahul Chaudhari, Madhuri Adhale, Abhishek Bhapkar, Mangesh Desai, Shekhar Bhame, Shrikrishna Sartale, Sujata Kasabe, Chetan Bhongale Sustainable Chemistry for the Environment, 2025 ZnO nanoparticles have been successfully synthesized by thermally decomposing composite monolith of Zn and chitosan. XRD, FT-IR, FE-SEM, EDX, and UV-Visible spectroscopy have been used to characterize the synthesized nanoparticles. The synthesized material was found to possess the hexagonal wurtzite phase. These ZnO nanoparticles were subjected to photocatalytic investigations through the degradation of Methylene Blue (MB) dye under UV irradiation. The influence of various factors, such as initial concentration of dye, catalyst loading, time of contact, and pH on the photodegradation of methylene blue dye were investigated. Photodegradation experiments showed that the highest degradation of about 94.8 % was achieved within 180 min with catalyst loading 0.4 g/L. Photocatalysis experiments follow a pseudo first-order reaction kinetics. The photodegradation mechanism is also discussed in detail.
