An eco-benign synthesis of silver nanoparticles using Aegle marmelos L. bark extract and evaluation of their DNA cleavage, DNA binding, antioxidant and antibacterial activity Anindita De, Preeti Jain, Amit Kumar Manna, Vivek Srivastava, Riya Das Inorganic and Nano Metal Chemistry, 2024 The present study demonstrates green chemistry assisted synthesis of silver nanoparticles (B-AgNPs) in aqueous medium employing bark extract of Aegle marmelos L., their characterization and biological applications. B-AgNPs were synthesized at 70 °C with 0.005 M AgNO3 was reduced with 5.0 mL of bark extract for 20 min and monitored with UV-Vis spectrum. The size, charge, stability, and polydispersity index of B-AgNPs were determined using dynamic light scattering (DLS) and zeta potential analysis. Scanning electron microscope and high resolution transmission electron microscopy images showed that spherical-shaped BAgNPs were formed with average size of 20 nm along with a hydrodynamic diameter ranging from 5 to 100 nm in two subpopulations as evaluated by DLS analysis. Fourier transmission infrared spectrum ascertain the functional groups and purity while energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy study confirms the elemental composition of BAgNP. B-AgNPs remarkably exhibit DNA cleavage activity against pUC19 and binding activity with CT-DNA. The growth inhibition potential of BAgNPs against Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia Coli, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa bacterial strains was tested and they exhibited minimum inhibitory concentration value 10 μM against E. coli lower than the plant extract. DPPH assay in different concentrations of BAgNPs revealed the antioxidant potential between 41.3% and 90.2%.
Hydrogen bonded molecular rectangle of N,Ń-bis(3-quinolylmethylene)diphenylethanedionedihydrazone Indian Journal of Chemistry Ijc, 2022 The title compound, N , N ¢ -bis (3-quinolylmethylene) diphenylethanedionedihydrazone ( I ) (molecular formula, C 34 H 24 N 6 ) has been synthesized by the reaction of quinoline 3-carboxaldehyde and diphenylethanedionedihydrazone in 2:1 molar ratio. The molecular structure has been characterized by room-temperature single-crystal X-ray diffraction which reveals that two quinoline moieties are disposed nearly perpendicularly around the central C-C bond giving an ‘L’ shape to the molecule. This particular geometry gives rise to the hydrogen bonded supramolecular rectangle of two self-complementary molecules. These supramolecular units are further assembled by p-p interaction.

Plasmonic sensing of Hg(II), Cr(III), and Pb(II) ions from aqueous solution by biogenic silver and gold nanoparticles Anindita De, Ankita Kumari, Preeti Jain, Amit Kumar Manna, Gaurab Bhattacharjee Inorganic and Nano Metal Chemistry, 2021 In this study, silver and gold nanoparticles were synthesized by using Syzygium aromaticum bud extract and reaction conditions were optimized. SPR band for silver nanoparticle (CAgNP) and for gold nanoparticle (CAuNP) was observed at 427 nm and 530 nm, respectively. The presence of phytochemical on the nanoparticle as capping agent in confirmed by Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR). Energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy confirms the elemental composition of CAgNP and CAuNP. Zeta Potential measurements revealed that the surfaces of the nanoparticles were negatively charged. Transmission electron microscopy and dynamic light scattering experiment indicated that particles were spherical and moderately dispersed. The CAgNPs have shown sensitivity to detect Hg(II) whereas CAuNPs could detect Cr(III) and Pb(II) ions in aqueous solution. The metal ion detection was monitored by UV–Visible spectroscopy. The minimum detection limit for Hg(II) by using CAgNPs is 10 µM and that of Cr(III) and Pb(II) is 0.25 mM and 1 mM, respectively. Graphical Abstract
