YouTube video citing LIS research: Thematic mapping and metric analysis based on YouTube interaction Cecep Ibrahim, Muthmainnah Aufaa Hamzah, Rahmat Fadhli Record and Library Journal, 2025 Background of the study: YouTube offers new opportunities for sharing Library and Information Science (LIS) research beyond traditional academic channels. Despite this potential, attention is limited regarding how LIS research circulates and engages audiences on this platform. Purpose: This study aims to map the thematic focus of YouTube videos that cite LIS research and to analyze their interaction metrics as indicators of audience engagement from an altmetrics perspective. Method: The study employed quantitative (descriptive and inferential statistics on YouTube interaction metrics) and qualitative (thematic analysis with inductive coding) methods on YouTube videos citing LIS research. Findings: Engagement was largely passive, with views dominating (97.41%). Dominant themes were: libraries as objects (36.47%), innovation/IT (32.44%), health information (25.34%), and social media (5.75%). The Vsauce video “The Zipf Mystery” demonstrated the potential to popularize LIS concepts like Zipf’s law. Conclusion: LIS research is increasingly cited on YouTube, confirming the platform’s potential as a complementary avenue for research dissemination and highlighting the growing convergence with digital public engagement. Future studies should focus on strategies to optimize YouTube as a scholarly communication tool.

Uncovering patterns of author productivity in educational leadership and management in Indonesia: A bibliometric study using lotka’s law Rahmat Fadhli, Baiquni Rahmat, Cecep Ibrahim, Berlian Eka Kurnia Record and Library Journal, 2023 Background of the study: The rapid development in the field of educational leadership and management (EDLM) recently has led to an increase in the number of publications. In line with this, bibliometric analysis has been widely conducted to assess various fields of study, particularly in Indonesia. The abundance of publications also necessitates an examination of the extent to which authors' productivity levels contribute to the field of EDLM in Indonesia. Purpose: This research aims to explore the pattern of author productivity by testing Lotka's Law on publications in the field of EDLM in Indonesia. Method: The testing is conducted using the complete count and straight count methods to compare the results obtained from both approaches. The data for the study were collected from all 44 Indonesian accredited journals in the EDLM field. A total of 7,796 articles were screened based on specific criteria, resulting in a final sample of 5,158 articles with 6,604 authors (complete count) and 4,301 authors (straight count). Findings: The results of the study indicate that the productivity levels of authors in the field of EDLM in Indonesia do not align with Lotka's law. While, most productive authors tend to publish their publication in a single journal only. Conclusion: The study also reveals a disparity in the productivity levels between the two methods, as well as a tendency for productive authors to publish their work in a single journal.
How Libraries in Indonesia Use TikTok: A Content Analysis of Library Accounts on the Platform Rahmat Fadhli, Cecep Ibrahim, Miftahunnisa' Igiriza, Bachrul Ilmi Investigacion Bibliotecologica, 2023 The objective of this study is to examine Indonesian libraries’ TikTok accounts. The research was carried out on 12 TikTok accounts with a total of 688 posts to gain a better understanding of TikTok content, the type of information published, and follower engagement on posts. Data was collected by observing all TikTok accounts and posts. The result showed that most libraries began using TikTok in 2020, in response to the growing number of TikTok users and the shift during the pandemic. The most common types of published data are library collection information and other information. Announcements, services, and library facilities are the three types of information that receive the most engagement. This study has practical implications for libraries that use TikTok as a social media alternative. TikTok will allow them to reach younger audiences, boost creativity, spread joy, and save libraries’ money. Based on the findings of this study, librarians can consider the format of published information. This study offers insights on the social media platform TikTok as a new opportunity to promote libraries. It emphasizes the enormous potential for using social media platforms such as this to gain more attention and bring libraries closer to patrons.
Performance of Indonesia's World-Class University Efficiency with Bibliometrics (Scientific Strength) Approach and Data Envelopment Analysis Cecep Ibrahim, Rahmat Fadhli Webology, 2021 University efficiency is one of the scientific measurement methods for evaluating the effectiveness and use of educational resources available explicitly to the productivity of research publications. This study aims to determine the university's efficiency, between the number of researchers /authors owned by the university and the amount of Scientific Strength (publications and citations) produced by universities in Indonesia with the data envelopment analysis. The universities in this study are nine universities in the top 1000 Qs world universities in 2020. This research method consists of problem identification, data collection, data processing, results, and discussion. The research data obtained from Scopus.com metadata in publication and citation data and the year limited from 2017-2019. While the data of active university researchers/authors obtained from the Higher Education Science and Technology Index and actual student data obtained from PDDikti data. Data were analyzed using the bibliometric approach (scientific strength) and the data envelopment analysis approach. This study analyzed 41869 Indonesian scientific works indexed by Scopus with a bibliometric approach (scientific strength) and data envelopment analysis. This study indicatesthat the highest efficiency values are the University of Indonesia and Diponegoro University with an efficiency value of 1,000 while the lowest efficiency value is IPB University with an efficiency value of 0.060.
Comparative Study of Asean Countries Research Productivity in Library Science Cecep Ibrahim, Ria Hardiyati, Winda Anesya Ayunda, Rahmat Fadhli Webology, 2021 Library science is one of the fastest-growing fields of knowledge, especially in Southeast Asian countries. This study aims to determine library science publications in Southeast Asia with approaches, namely bibliometrics, social network analysis, almetrics, and linear regression test. This study's data were taken from the Scopus web to obtain bibliographic data from library science publications in ten countries published in 1960-2019. Bibliometrics analysis uses Microsoft Excel calculations, mapping/scientometrics uses Vos viewer and Gephi, while altmetrics analysis uses altmetric.com. Based on the bibliometric analysis, the results showed that the most productive country is Malaysia, with 287 articles. The most sponsored publication’s country is Malaysia, with 57 articles. International journals that are popular as destinations for publication of library science articles in Southeast Asia are the Malaysian Journal of Library and Information Science (MJLIS). The country that has the most impact factor for citation is Singapore, with 4.922 citations. The country with the highest level of collaboration is Malaysia, with a total collaboration of 243 articles. The research results are based on social network analysis that the country that has the highest influence is Malaysia with a degree centrality (DC) of 301, closeness centrality (CC) of 0.61, and between centrality (BC) 0.66. The results of the study are based on altmetrics analysis. The country with the most shares/mentions on social media is Singapore, with 5.223 shares/mentions, the second is Malaysia 1467 shares/mentions. Meanwhile, based on the linear regression test that there is an influence between social media and citation, it is indicated by the Sig value of 0.001. Meanwhile, the large correlation between social media and citations was 97.8%.
