Blockchain technologies and their application in security software development Serhii Zybin, Oleg Kubrak, Petar Halachev, Yaroslav Kravchuk, Oleksandr Muliarevych Sustainable Engineering and Innovation, 2025 Current factors like the rising frequency of cyber threats and vulnerabilities on centralized platforms indicate the inefficiency of conventional network security frameworks, leading to new solutions such as the blockchain. This review systematically reviews developments of blockchain technologies in the context of security software (2021-2023) to evaluate its efficacy and challenges and explore the future potential. 77 peer-reviewed papers from ScienceDirect, IEEE Xplore and Scopus; adopting the PRISMA guideline, records were screened down from 1,532 to 77. Empirical evaluations (35%), case studies (28%), and theoretical frameworks (37%) using Joanna Briggs Institute tools and the Newcastle-Ottawa Scale were used in mitigating bias. Our results show that blockchain has strengths that add to data integrity (89% of studies) and security of the Internet of Things (IoT) ecosystem (28 studies) and supply chains (15 studies). Nevertheless, blockchain-based authentication has reduced latency by 284% (342 ± 112 ms) compared to a traditional system and has tradeoffs with scalability and performance. Research is skewed towards finance (47%), missing healthcare (9%), and critical infrastructure (6%). It does not include sufficient interoperability standards, post-quantum cryptographic validation, etc. The adaptive regulations are urged for policy implications for editable blockchains and hybrid Artificial Intelligence (AI) blockchain architectures. Interoperability should be taken care of by cross-chain protocols, scalability trilemmas and real-world adversarial testing must be addressed by the researchers and practitioners must put priority on scalability. This review, in its totality, brings out the singular role of blockchain in complementing the existing security solutions instead of replacing them. It calls for cross-disciplinary involvement and partnership in harnessing technical innovation in a regulatory framework to tackle cybersecurity threats through outsider and insider security approaches.

Mitigating Input Prompt Attack Vulnerabilities in Systems with a Language Model Interface Oleksandr Muliarevych Proceedings 2024 14th International Conference on Dependable Systems Services and Technologies Trustworthy AI Internet of Robotics and Big Data for A Safe and Secure World Dessert 2024, 2024 The article is devoted to the study of the cybersecurity vulnerabilities in systems utilizing Language Model Interfaces, particularly focusing on the challenges and solutions in constructing secure systems. The paper includes an overview of the current Language Model Interface and issues with their utilization in typical systems, and because of the conducted analysis, proposes a multi-level structural schema of cybersecurity frameworks and standards, that could be applied to cover the different types of risks. The suggested prompt analysis and injection detection sub-system design, in which evaluates whether the input is relevant and appropriate from the security point of view. The additional Filter cybersecurity level integrated into the system with the Language Model Interface allows protection from prompt injection attacks during the pre-processing of user requests and post-processing of responses. The Filter level consists mainly of a Prompt Analyzer, which wraps pre-processed input prompt; an Attack Validator module using a helper Large Language Model, which classifies if the prompt is risky or safe; Elasticsearch cluster for logging and monitoring purposes. During testing different types of prompt injection attacks were evaluated in different types of system setups: core GPT-3 and GPT-4 models without additional security layer; Fuzzy Search with attacking prompt pattern vocabulary; a system with Attack Validator in two modes - based on GPT-3 model and GPT-4 model. The article shows the relative strengths and weaknesses of each approach, contributing valuable insights into the development of more secure systems with Language Model Interface.
Enhancing System Security: LLM-Driven Defense Against Prompt Injection Vulnerabilities Oleksandr Muliarevych Conference Proceedings 2024 IEEE 17th International Conference on Advanced Trends in Radioelectronics Telecommunications and Computer Engineering Tcset 2024, 2024 This article examines cybersecurity vulnerabilities in systems utilizing Language Model Interfaces, focusing on the challenges of building secure systems. It provides an overview of current interfaces and their associated risks. A key contribution is the design of a prompt analysis and injection detection subsystem, which assesses input relevance and security. The integration of an additional Filter level in the system safeguards against prompt injection attacks by pre-processing user requests and post-processing responses. This level includes a Prompt Analyzer for input wrapping, and an Attack Validator module using the LLM to classify prompts. The study evaluates various prompt injection attacks across different system setups, including core GPT -3 and GPT-4 models without additional security layers, a Fuzzy Search method, and systems using an Attack Validator based on GPT-3 and GPT -4 models.
Optimizing Inter-Service Communication in Latency-Sensitive Distributed Systems Eduard Maltsev, Oleksandr Muliarevych Proceedings 2024 14th International Conference on Dependable Systems Services and Technologies Trustworthy AI Internet of Robotics and Big Data for A Safe and Secure World Dessert 2024, 2024 This research investigates the impact of compression and serialization strategies on latency in message-broker-based distributed systems, focusing on the interplay between these strategies and varying message sizes. Utilizing a custom-designed test communication architecture within a controlled Google Cloud environment, we evaluate various compression utils, including Kafka's built-in mechanisms and external libraries, paired with serialization formats (Avro, Json) for small, medium, and large messages. Our findings demonstrate significant latency reductions compared to uncompressed Json: up to 74% for small messages using Snappy compression with Avro serialization and up to 63% for larger messages using Kafka-native Zstd compression. This research not only addresses a gap in the existing literature regarding message broker-specific optimizations but also provides a foundation for future work exploring the impact of other factors on latency in this widely used distributed messaging platform.

Comparison of Hardware Complexity of Multipliers GF(pm) Ivan Zholubak, Valeriy Hlukhov, Oleksandr Muliarevych Proceedings of the IEEE International Conference on Intelligent Data Acquisition and Advanced Computing Systems Technology and Applications Idaacs, 2023 The article discusses the use of Galois field (GF) multipliers for cryptographic data protection based on elliptical curves. It recommends using extended Galois fields with characteristics <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$\mathrm{d} > 2$</tex> for digital signatures. The article proposes a criterion for determining the best field to use for data protection. It also describes methods for creating cryptoprocessors cores, including a VHDL generator for extended Galois field multipliers. However, generating field multipliers with large characteristics can be time-consuming. To improve efficiency, the article suggests simplifying the design and minimizing logic gates in an FPGA. The article determines the best fields for data protection based on the selected criterion and a certain algorithm.
