Proof of geometry is a topic that involves mathematical reasoning abilities and relates to perseverance involving hard work, the spirit of achievement, and self-confidence. The current important problem that occurs at this time is that students who are future teachers of mathematics still experience difficulties in compiling proofs, especially those who are not challenged to work hard. This qualitative research explores mathematics teacher candidates' reasoning abilities and perseverance in proving geometric theorems. Therefore, the research design used a case study. There were three participants in this study, and they were student prospective mathematics teachers' s taking geometry courses. Data were collected through working documents, open questionnaires, and semi-structured interviews and were analyzed using iterative techniques consisting of data condensation, data exposure, and verification. The study's results showed that students' prospective teachers did not prioritize proof in solving geometry problems, even though they worked hard to solve the problems independently until they were finished. The students' perseverance also impacts their mathematical reasoning in proving geometric theorems. Students with more hard work values tend to have more reasoning values. The results of this study have implications that there needs to be an effort from the teacher to get used to giving proof questions to support students' perseverance and mathematical reasoning abilities.

    IOP Publishing
Abstract This research is a qualitative descriptive study that aims to find out how the character values of students in learning use HOTS questions with PBL models. Data collection methods used were observation, written tests, and interviews. The focus of this research is the value of the character of curiosity, hard work, thorough, and creative. The results showed that the dominant character values that emerged were curiosity and hard work, which was due to the lack of HOTS type questions making students often ask the teacher how to solve these problems. Then because of the dominant curiosity, students work on the problem with hard work. While the character values the dominant does not appear are thorough and creative characters, it happens because of the lack of student training in working on various math problems making students only focus on what has been taught in the classroom without developing their thinking.

    IOP Publishing
Abstract The teacher is a parent for young children in school. In maximizing learning in schools, the role of a teacher is needed. This study aims to describe the learning process for childhood by teachers both in plannng, implementatuon, and evaluaton of geometry and numbers. The subjects of this study were 30 teachers from 20 schools in South Sumatra. The method used is descriptive with qualitative and quantitative types. Data were collected using questionnaires and interviews. The results obtained that the implementation of learning undertaken by teachers both in planning, implementation, and evaluation has been carried out in each school. It’s just that the implementation is not optimal. It is because there is no awareness of the teacher about the need for learning tools, learning is still not following the stages of development due to the limitations of the media and the lack of teacher creativity. It requires training as an evaluation of the activities that have been carried out.

    IOP Publishing
Abstract A pod rot disease caused by Phytophthora is one of serious treat on cacao farming system. This infection was reduced annual bean production remarkably (up to 30%). So far, there are seven species of this fungi were identified from the cacao farm over the world. However, we still lack of information on phytophthora properties from Sulawesi farm, which supplied more than 60% Indonesian cacao bean production annually. Here we report our result on isolation, identification, and characterization of these fungi from Sigi-Biromaru area (one of main farming area in Central Sulawesi). We showed that P. nicotianae could isolate from local infected pot. Bioassay on it infection rate was shown depend on the recictency of cacao clones/cultivars. This data suggesting that various species of Phytophthora exist in Sulawesi cacao farm, and its pathogenity was depend on the susceptibility of its clone of cacao.
