  • Boosting power efficiency in polycrystalline silicon solar cells: antimony selenide sputter coating with advanced optical, electrical, and thermal insights

    Solar cells can transform light energy into electrical energy, possibly removing the need for fossil fuel energy resources. Reflection loss in solar cells is a factor contributing to diminished power conversion efficiency, which can be solved through using antireflective coatings on the cell surface. The present research primarily focuses on the development and application of antireflection coatings on the top surface of silicon solar cells. Sb2Se3 was deposited over multi-crystalline Si cells with different durations from 15 to 60 minutes. The influence of thin film Sb2Se3 coated cells was investigated through optical, current, voltage and thermal study. The ideal thickness of the Sb2Se3 coating was determined to be 1.336 µm for SB3 sample using FESEM. The lowest optical reflectance of 5.8% and highest absorbance of 93.4% was reached after 45 minutes of coating (SB3) across the 300 to 1200 nm wavelength band. The minimum electrical resistivity of a 45-minute coated Sb2Se3 sample was determined as 5.09×10−3 Ω-cm. The improved power conversion efficiency of Sb2Se3 coated solar cell under open sunlight setting was increased from 15.31 to 21.18% particularly for SB3 solar cell sample, which optimize maximum transfer of incident photons into the solar cell. From the observed results, it indicates that Sb2Se3 nanocoating has identified to be ideal antireflection coating material for polycrystalline silicon solar cells.

    This review article made the comparative analysis quantitatively evaluates four applications of deep learning in healthcare: tuberculosis detection in chest radiography, skin cancer classification, Electronic Health Record (EHR) analysis, and drug discovery. The studies exhibit distinct model architectures and metrics, with tuberculosis and skin cancer classification achieving AUC values of 0.99 and above 0.91, respectively, using CNNs optimized with transfer learning and data augmentation. EHR analysis, utilizing CNN and RNN hybrids, reports AUCs between 0.70 and 0.85 for tasks like disease progression and patient readmission, demonstrating the variability introduced by heterogeneous, sequential data. Drug discovery models employ RNNs for molecular sequence prediction, highlighting a conceptual framework rather than specific performance metrics. The findings indicate that image-based models excel in quantitative performance and scalability, while models for EHR and molecular data face challenges in standardization and interpretability. This analysis underscores the need for data harmonization and explainability to enhance the clinical readiness of deep learning across diverse healthcare domains.

    Due to their unique qualities, such as superior corrosion resistance, formability, and a strong strength-to- weight ratio, aluminium alloys are key materials in a variety of industries. However, the majority of failures in structural parts occur as a result of a catastrophic failure, i.e., without warning, namely fatigue failure. The majority of the study has focused on using a new approach, such as pre- and post-weld heat treatment, to improve the fatigue life of structural parts. The component’s fatigue life was improved in this study by using a solution treatment followed by an age hardening. According to the findings of the experiments, the solution and ageing treated joint had a longer fatigue life than the typical in as weld state.
  • Fatigue life assessment on artificially aged TIG welded AA6061 aluminum alloy joints

    Aluminum alloys are essential materials in many sectors due to their unique properties, such as excellent corrosion resistance, formability, and good strength ratio. But most of the failures encountered in engineering components by the sudden failure, i.e., without prior intimation, namely fatigue failure. Most of the research has been concentrated on improving the fatigue life of engineering components by a different technique, such as pre- and post-weld heat treatment. In this investigation, the aging treatment has been used to improve the fatigue life of the component. From the experimental results, the artificial aged joint revealed superior fatigue life than the common in as weld condition.

    Reinforcement with natural fibre has become a common place in a range of industries in the modern day. A polymer matrix can, however, boost the strength of the reinforcing element. When it comes to natural fibres and polymers, they simply do not mix because of their different hydrophobic and hydrophilic properties. However, because the polymer matrix is designed to be hydrophobic, the natural fibres are hydrophilic. This issue can now be rectified with alkalization and a silane binding agent. This technique of modifying natural fibres may result in both rise in surface roughness and a reduction in water attraction and moisture content. In this research, the effects of alkaline and silane treatment were demonstrated using mechanical testing and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). DSC and TGA tests were used to assess the materials’ chemical compositions and thermal properties. In comparison to other composites, those with a 2 percent silane treatment showed improved strength performance. Hemp fibre composites are expected to achieve great performance in industrial applications by enduring chemical treatment.
