Modeling circular economy enablers in ecotourism using TISM and fuzzy MICMAC analysis for sustainable business practices Nehajoan Panackal, Swetha Krishna T S, Adya Sharma Discover Sustainability, 2026 Ecotourism emphasizes minimizing the environmental footprint of tourism by relying on renewable energy sources, implementing effective waste management practices, and fostering community empowerment. Circular economy initiatives aim to minimize resource exploitation by adopting practices that enable the efficient use of resources, thereby maintaining a balance between the economy and the environment. Despite significant strides, gaps remain in understanding the enablers of implementing circular economy principles in ecotourism. The purpose of the study is to address this research gap. The Total Interpretive Structural Modeling (TISM) methodology was employed to establish the hierarchical relationships between the identified enablers. Fuzzy MIC MAC analysis further helped to understand the nature of linkages between the enablers. The study revealed that the critical enablers for implementing circular economy principles in ecotourism were policy and regulations, capacity building, environmental audits, local sourcing, reuse and recycling, community support and involvement, and technology and innovation. This study proposes new insights by integrating two critical domains of ecotourism and the circular economy. The TISM model is a unique contribution of the study that can be leveraged to build sustainable models in ecotourism. The study's findings have profound implications for policymakers, individuals in the tourism industry, and researchers, enabling them to strategically formulate policies that promote the principles of the circular economy in ecotourism.
Tracing the evolution of research and future prospects of metaverse in teaching and learning Fernanda Chatha, Nehajoan Panackal, Adya Sharma, Sonica Rautela Discover Education, 2026 Digital technologies have brought a paradigm shift in education, teaching, and learning practices. The most recent form of technology that has grabbed the attention of the entire world is the Metaverse. Its usage has been extended and explored in multiple domains, such as medicine, entertainment, tourism, and education. The objective of the study is to map the evolution of literature in the domain of Metaverse and teaching and learning via bibliometric analysis and a case-based approach. The metaverse domain is expanding rapidly; therefore, understanding renewed developments is essential to foresee and predict future trends. The data was retrieved from Scopus, consisting of 291 articles from 168 journals from 1999 to October 2024. Bibliometric analysis was used to review the extant literature on the Metaverse and teaching-learning. Three key themes were identified: Virtual Reality (VR) in education, augmented Reality (AR) in teaching-learning, and leveraging immersive technologies: Empirical evidence and rationale. The first two themes revolve around using VR and AR in teaching and learning. However, the third cluster covers the articles that discuss empirical evidence and rationale for using various immersive technologies in teaching-learning. The empirical evidence from past studies has also demonstrated that immersive technologies can enhance interest and varied skills in students. The key themes present an overview of the Metaverse in teaching-learning and can be used by teachers, academic administrators, policymakers, and technologists to further add to this research domain. The result of the case study showed that faculty uphold the role of Metaverse in enhancing interactions and learning. However, smooth transition into Metaverse-led learning environments requires reforms in technologies that ensures inclusivity, and capacity building for faculty. The study also adopted the Situation-Actor-Process (SAP)-Learning-Action-Performance (LAP) method to discuss the Metaverse implementation barriers. Besides infrastructural, cost and technological barriers, the pedagogical and security barriers should be also considered. The study highlights the need for strategic resource allocation to develop metaverse infrastructure. The study has implications for curriculum designers who want to incorporate metaverse-based tools.

Practical Implications : The study aimed to contribute to organizational behavior and educational management theories. The study findings prompted academicians and policymakers to improve job satisfaction by fostering social capital, trust, and leadership in academic settings. The study could offer insights for universities or organizations to enhance employee job satisfaction by leveraging social capital. Originality : The study is unique, as numerous studies have independently focused on job satisfaction and social capital. This study attempted to examine job satisfaction from the perspective of social capital.
Charting the course of digital collaboration: a bibliometric analysis of COIL literature Adya Sharma, Nehajoan Panackal Cogent Education, 2025 Internationalization is at the core of higher education and institutions are exploring sustainable solutions to develop a comprehensive framework for internationalization. Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) is a sustainable solution in which two cohorts of faculty and students from geographically and culturally diverse backgrounds can collaborate and interact thereby gaining skills to function in a multicultural and diverse global community. Practices of COIL would help to enhance inclusive and equitable education that would help promote lifelong learning among the beneficiaries. Despite the abundant benefits that COIL offers, research on COIL is still in its nascent stage and is more concentrated in developed high income countries. In this study, the researchers have adopted the bibliometric approach to systematically study the existing literature, explore research gaps and identify emerging research areas in COIL. The results of this analysis would help academicians, researchers, policymakers, and international cells in institutions to strategize and formulate policies to popularize COIL as a sustainable solution for higher education. This would be especially beneficial to developing and emerging economies. The study has theoretical, managerial and societal implications for policy makers, researchers and academicians in higher education institutions.
Investigating the drivers and outcomes of shopping app engagement-An application of the SOR framework Shruti Sharma, Adya Sharma Vision, 2025 Achieving mobile shopping app engagement is challenging and far more difficult to sustain in a fiercely competitive online business landscape. The aim of this study is to investigate the relationship among virtual try-on, recommendation agent, choice process satisfaction, monetary savings, customer engagement, app evangelism and cart abandonment using stimulus-organism-response (SOR) theory in the context of shopping apps. A partial least squares-based structural equation modelling approach was utilized to evaluate the presented hypotheses with a sample of 482 respondents who utilized mobile applications for shopping. A multigroup study was conducted on subgroups categorized by gender, income and education. The findings indicate that monetary savings, recommendation agents, choice process satisfaction and virtual try-on positively impact shopping app engagement in a given order, which in turn impacts app evangelism and cart abandonment. A multi-group investigation indicates that the factors influencing shopping app engagement vary among different customer segments. The research provides a novel framework for the drivers and outcomes to contribute to a deeper understanding of mobile shopping app engagement. This study offers practical and theoretical implications for marketers and scholars studying shopping app engagement based on its findings.

Hypothesizing the enablers of the gig economy: A tism and micmac approach Nehajoan Panackal, Sonica Rautela, Adya Sharma Prabandhan Indian Journal of Management, 2024 Purpose : The present study focused on identifying the enablers that encourage the successful implementation of the gig economy. The sharing economy, sometimes referred to as the gig economy, offers choice, flexibility, autonomy, and several revenue streams. It is thought to represent the workforce of the future.Methodology : In the study, we followed the steps laid down by total interpretive structural modeling (TISM) and fuzzy MICMAC analysis. Seven enablers were identified through extant literature review and expert opinion. The enablers were validated and translated through the Delphi approach into the structural self-interaction matrix, which helped arrive at the proposed model. A study using fuzzy MICMAC verified the type of connections among the recognized facilitators.Findings : The results of the investigation demonstrated that the three tiers of the presumed TISM model of the gig economy’s enablers existed. The discovered seven enablers’ direct and indirect relationships are represented by the model. The findings of the Fuzzy MICMAC analysis showed that entrepreneurial spirit and short time commitment were the dependent variables. Freedom, autonomy, and multiple sources of income were the key drivers of the gig economy. Flexibility, technology, and nature of work were the linkage variables in the study.Practical Implications : Many people could find employment options with flexibility, autonomy, and the possibility of earning from several sources of income, thanks to the gig economy. Academics, legislators, business owners, and gig economy participants should all take note of the study’s important conclusions. It would be easier for people and businesses to embrace this shared economy if they concentrated on the facilitators.Originality : Unlikse prior research, the current study explored the enablers of the gig economy and systematically developed a hypothesized model highlighting crucial aspects of the gig economy using TISM and fuzzy MICMAC analysis.
