Experimental and Theoretical Study of Internal Pressure Loads on Boundary Walls under Gusty Wind Conditions Sreenadh Chevula, Satya Prasad Maddula International Journal of Aerospace Engineering, 2022 This work contains an acceptable solution to the most practical interest to reduce the internal pressure load variations acting on closed envelops (i.e., inner building walls, fairing of rocket, and missile payloads) under gusty wind conditions. To simulate the gusty wind conditions (i.e., tangential unsteady flow condition), an experimental setup of a wind tunnel with a sinusoidal gust generating mechanism has been established in IDR of the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (IDR/UPM), Spain. The wind tunnel has been equipped with an air reservoir with vent holes. The pressure jumps shown across the vent holes are studied as a function of sinusoidal gust frequency, volume of the air reservoir, and vent hole size. A theoretical model (based on the mass conservation equation and polytropic law gas evolution) has been proposed to predict the pressure jumps and variations under gusty wind conditions. At the end of the work, theoretical and experimental results have been studied and compared. The relationship between pressure loss coefficient ξ and flow coefficient α under unsteady flow conditions has been evaluated.
A Computational Design Analysis of UAV's Rotor Blade in Low-Temperature Conditions for the Defence Applications Sreenadh Chevula, Sankeerth Chillamcharal, Satya Prasad Maddula International Journal of Aerospace Engineering, 2021 This paper discusses about the critical situations faced by the Defence operations with drones in the area of Siachen Glacier in the Himalayas. The reasons for the structural failures in drone’s rotor blades and the low-performance efficiency of the drones at low-temperature conditions are highlighted. A possible solution to the above-mentioned problems has been addressed by introducing a new boundary design in the rotor blades and composite materials. The results which are shown in this paper are obtained by the computational analysis facility located at the Department of Aerospace Engineering, School of Technology, GITAM (Deemed to be University), Hyderabad. By mimicking the Siachen Glacier atmosphere conditions, the proposed rotor blade design has been analysed in CFD.
Design And Testing Of Rocket Motors With Composite Propellants Sreenadh Chevula Sreenadh Chevula and International Journal of Mechanical and Production Engineering Research and Development, 2019 experimental testing and the results of positive and negative obtained in more than one test will be discussed and solutions will be provided for the obtained negative results.
An experimental and theoretical study of unsteady flow (gust) effects on structures Ch. Sreenadh, A. Sanz-Andrés, S. Franchini, F. Navarro-Medina Wit Transactions on Modelling and Simulation, 2013 The gust wind tunnel at IDR, Universidad Politecnica de Madrid (UPM), has been enhanced and the impact of the modification has been characterized. Several flow quality configurations have been tested. The problems in measuring gusty winds with Pitot tubes have been considered. Experimental results have been obtained and compared with theoretically calculated results (based on potential flow theory). A theoretical correction term has been proposed for unsteady flow measurements obtained with Pitot tubes. The effect of unsteady flow on structures and laying bodies on the ground has been also considered. A theoretical model has been proposed for a semi-circular cylinder and experimental tests have been performed to study the unsteady flow effects, which can help in clarifying the phenomenon.
