  • STUDY OF THE IMPACT OF FOREIGN INVESTMENT ON ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT IN EMERGING MARKETS
Denis Spahija, Wei Li, Murod Muhammedov, Akhtam Nizamov, Sarvar Iskhakova
Jurnal Ilmiah Ilmu Terapan Universitas Jambi, 2025
In the context of globalisation, national active development is possible by attracting foreign investment and opening joint ventures with foreign partners. Emerging markets need to create a positive business climate and legislation that protects the rights of foreign investors. It is necessary to identify the positive and negative factors that influence foreign investment in the development of countries. The study aimed to address the positive and negative experiences of attracting foreign investment in emerging market economies. The main research method was an analysis of the existing experience of attracting foreign investment in China, Kosovo and Uzbekistan. The study identified positive and negative trends in the inflow and outflow of foreign direct investment (FDI). The degree of influence of the inflow of FDI on the gross domestic product (GDP) and the tendency of its change was determined. Based on the results of the Doing Business rankings, the International Institute for Management Development (IMD) World Digital Competitiveness Index, and the Global Innovation Index, positive and negative trends in attracting foreign investment in the economies of the countries studied were substantiated. The World Digital Competitiveness Ranking includes only 67 countries, including China. Factors that hinder the attraction of foreign investment in China, Kosovo and Uzbekistan were identified. The ways of changing the environment that influence the attraction of foreign investments and the peculiarities of their distribution are substantiated based on the best practices studied.
  • Artificial Intelligence for Investment Management in Healthcare: A Bibliometric Review and Strategic Perspectives
Yuriy Prudnikov, Rafal Rebilas, Vladyslav Landar, Lukasz Budynek, Denis Spahija
    Virtual Economics, 2025
The increasing complexity of healthcare systems and the growing need for efficient resource allocation have intensified the relevance of artificial intelligence (AI) in strategic and investment decision-making. While previous research has primarily focused on the clinical applications of AI, limited attention has been given to its potential in healthcare investment management. The lack of integrative analyses linking technological, managerial, and economic dimensions highlights a critical research gap in understanding AI’s strategic role within health governance. This study aims to provide a comprehensive assessment of the current state, structure, and evolution of research on AI applications in healthcare investment management. Using data from the Scopus database (1989–2024), the analysis integrates systematic literature selection under the PRISMA protocol, bibliometric mapping via VOSviewer, and strategic interpretation through SWOT analysis. The results reveal a clear expansion of research activity since 2016, with exponential growth after 2020, coinciding with the rise of digital transformation initiatives. Four major thematic clusters were identified – technological, managerial–investment, clinical, and strategic – illustrating the multidisciplinary nature of the field. The findings indicate that AI is evolving from an analytical tool to a strategic enabler of decision-making, investment optimisation, and governance reform in healthcare systems. The SWOT analysis further highlights that while the field demonstrates strong interdisciplinary growth and managerial relevance, it faces challenges such as limited empirical validation, ethical and governance concerns, and uneven digital readiness across contexts. These insights align with emerging studies emphasising the need for balanced AI integration that enhances both efficiency and human-centric values in healthcare management. In conclusion, the study establishes a strategic framework linking bibliometric evidence with policy and managerial implications, suggesting future research directions focused on the development of integrated models that combine technological innovation, ethical governance, and economic sustainability in AI-driven healthcare investment management.
  • Financial markets and price increases in Europe after the russian-Ukrainian War
    Artan Nimani, Denis Spahija
    Scientific Horizons, 2023
The research relevance is predefined by the fact that the European financial market has suffered a direct negative impact due to the russian aggression and violation of the territorial integrity of Ukraine. All these processes are accompanied by several previously formed and unfavourable trends for socio-economic and financial development, which have become even more severe due to the hostilities. In particular, COVID-19, environmental degradation, rising inflation, deglobalization, insufficient social development of individual countries, as well as fuel and food shortages. The research aims to conclude a comparative analysis of financial policy in European countries and individual countries of the Balkan Peninsula, as well as substantiation of the financial risk management features and the formation of a forecast model of economic stabilization. To achieve the set objectives, scientific methods were used, including analysis method, analogy method, and modelling method. The article analyses expert reports and the results of scientific research on the current state of the financial market and monetary policy in Europe as a result of the russian-Ukrainian war, in particular in the Balkans and Kosovo. The analogy of the directions of financial policy in the period before the russian invasion of the territory of Ukraine with the period of direct aggression of the russian federation is conducted. The fundamental reasons for changes in pricing policy, in particular pricing mechanisms, are characterized. The determining factors of financial risks, tools for assessing the consequences, as well as generalization of management methods for their reduction and elimination in the future are substantiated. The directions of European financial support aimed at the defence sector and socio-economic needs are considered. The practical value of the work is that the conceptual model of strategic development of the European financial market in the context of stabilization processes of international financial policy, as well as food and energy security was formed
  • IMPACT OF ENGLISH LANGUAGE AS A HUMAN CAPITAL IN THE HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS’ DEVELOPMENT STRATEGY
    Laura Naka, Denis Spahija
Corporate and Business Strategy Review, 2022
Entirely evident, the English language is dominating the academic world, and higher education institutions’ development apparently depends on this skill. As Rhekhalilit and Lerdpaisalwong (2019) point out, “In the era of globalization, English has played a significant role as a global language in different communicative aspects, especially in international academic exchange among scientists, scholars, and researchers” (p. 336). The study aims to highlight the importance of English foreign language (EFL) and its role in the professional and academic development of university lecturers and the development of higher education institutions (HEI) in non-English speaking countries. The study used the qualitative method, and the data were extracted through semi-structured interviews, the data of which are presented in a way of descriptive analysis by writing the opinions of the interviewees in the form of quotes. The findings show that the academic staff strongly supports the role that the English language has in meeting these standards, which directly affects their professional development and the institution’s development they represent. In addition, the study tends to raise the motivation in improving the level of the English language among academic staff, since it concludes this ability is also considered to be a human capital in institutions of higher education. The relevance of EFL knowledge by academic staff in HEI is related closely to the institutional development goals.
  • THE IMPORTANCE OF CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY FOR COMPANIES: THE DEVELOPING MARKET STUDY
Artan Nimani, Valbona Zeqiraj, Denis Spahija
Journal of Governance and Regulation, 2022
The purpose of this paper is to determine whether and to what extent companies in Kosovo practice the concept of corporate social responsibility (CSR) in their operations and what are their benefits from the application of this concept. This paper uses primary data obtained through a survey of managers of 40 companies in Kosovo. To prove that the practice of the concept of CSR is of great importance for all aspects of the operation of companies, a cross-tabular analysis of certain questions was performed, where the simple linear regression and the coefficient of correlation were calculated. Based on the obtained results it can be concluded that the largest percentage of the analyzed companies in Kosovo (87.50%) practice the concept of CSR in their operations. Managers in Kosovo introduce the concept of CSR for a variety of reasons. However, they agree with the fact that practicing this method leads to better long-term financial performance, greater market share, competitive advantage, better reputation of the company, increase of the working climate in the company, the productivity and motivation of employees, their loyalty, and contributes to retaining high-quality staff.
  • MANAGEMENT AND INTERNATIONALIZATION OF RESEARCH STRATEGIES IN HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS AS A BASIS OF ECONOMIC WELL-BEING
Kimete Canaj, Artan Nimani, Blerim Canaj, Denis Spahija
Corporate and Business Strategy Review, 2022
Research and internationalization are the major difficulties confronting most higher education institutions (HEIs) in the region, putting research, innovation, internationalization, and economic and political strain on policymakers. This study is a qualitative and quantitative empirical research of two projects that examines their dominant perceptions and attitudes towards social mobility and internationalization of research strategies in HEIs as a basis of social and economic well-being. The research was conducted at the University of Gjakova “Fehmi Agani” (UFAGJ), through personal interviews and a structured questionnaire, which was carried out by management, academic staff, administrative staff, and students. The results demonstrated that the internationalization of research has a high impact on the increase of the economy and well-being in society. This research presents an analysis of the internationalization strategies employed by the HEIs through two selected projects involving different European and South East European universities. The study is based on a literature review (Almeida, Robson, Morosini, & Baranzeli, 2018; Dewey & Duff, 2009; Levatino, 2017) and the establishment of categories as points of reference and comparison. We look at and compare internationalization strategy focused on international staff and student mobility and internationalization at home (IaH) actions focused on the development of high-quality lectures and sensitive intercultural competencies in students as learning outcomes and strategic goals. Finally, in addition to an ex-post analysis of the ongoing implementation of the internationalization strategy at the UFAGJ, we draw conclusions and lessons learnt for the internationalization and quality of research within HEIs of an emerging economy.
