    S. Vanitha, N. Sathish Kumar, K. Reddi Mohan Naidu, M. Balaji, A. Varada Reddy, N. Saritha
Inorganic and Nano Metal Chemistry, 2023
In the present study, six mononuclear Zinc(II) complexes, [Zn(L1)(6-Methyl-2,2′-bpy)] (1), [Zn(L1)(1,10-Phen)] (2), [Zn(L1)(5-Amino-1,10-Phen)] (3), [Zn(L2)(6-Methyl-2,2′-bpy)] (4), [Zn(L2)(4,4′-Di-tert-butyl-2,2′-bpy)] (5), and [Zn(L2)(1,10-Phen)] (6) formed from Schiff bases, 2-methyl-1-phenyl-1-(pyridin-2-ylmethylimino)propan-2-ol (L1) and 4-chloro-5-methyl-2-(1-(pyridin-2-ylmethylimino)ethyl)phenol (L2) were synthesized. The synthesized Schiff base ligands and metal complexes were characterized by different spectroscopic techniques such as FTIR, UV–Visible, 1H & 13C NMR spectroscopy, in addition to Powder X-ray diffraction and cyclic voltammetry. Further, the synthesized metal complexes (1–6) and their parental Schiff bases (L1, L2) were evaluated for antibacterial, antifungal, and antioxidant activities. Of those, Complex 1 was shown to have significant antibacterial activity against all of the evaluated microorganisms. Schiff base ligands, L1 and L2, complexes 1, 4, and 5 were shown to have superior antifungal activity against Aspergillus niger than the standard drug, fluconazole. In addition, the synthesized compounds achieved good antioxidant activities when compared to the standard Ascorbic acid.
  • Synthesis and thermal study of phosphorus containing dendron using 2-butyne-1,4-diol at the core
    E. Dadapeer, K. Reddi Mohan Naidu, C. Naga Raju
    Arabian Journal of Chemistry, 2016
Synthesis of new phosphorus dendron containing 2-butyne-1,4-diol at the core is described. The divergent build-up of the dendron is based on simple condensation reactions performed by using P(O)Cl3, 3-hydroxybenzaldehyde, hydrazine hydrate, 4-hydroxybenzaldehyde and 2-mercaptoethanol. The final dendron is a Schiff’s base macromolecule possessing 8 imine bonds and 8 OH groups at the periphery. The intermediate dendrons were confirmed by IR, NMR (1H, 13C and 31P), LC–Mass and C, H, N analyzes. The structure of the final dendron 6 was confirmed by IR, NMR (1H, 13C and 31P), MALDI-TOF-MS, and C, H, N analysis. The surface morphology of the dendron 6 was understood by Scanning Electronic Microscopic study (SEM). To determine the changes in weight in relation to change in temperature of the final dendron 6 was studied by TGA/DTA analysis.

International Journal of Molecular Sciences, 2013
Polymer supported dichlorophosphate (PEG-OPOCl2) is an efficient green catalyst for the electrophilic substitution reaction of indole with aromatic aldehydes, in neat condition, to afford an excellent yield of bis(indolyl) methanes with short reaction time, at room temperature. The synthesized compounds and their anti-cancer activity are evaluated.
  • Headspace solid-phase microextraction gas chromatography-mass spectrometry and gas chromatography-olfactometry analysis of volatile compounds in pineapple breads
Saw Ying, Ola Lasekan, Kalla Naidu, Seye Lasekan
    Molecules, 2012
Sensorial analysis of pineapple breads (conventionally baked, Cpb; fully baked frozen, Fpb and partially baked, Ppb) showed no significant differences in terms of aroma and taste. On the contrary, the scores for the overall quality between the partially baked and conventionally baked breads showed significant (p < 0.05) differences. At the same time, headspace analysis using a solid-phase microextraction (SPME) method identified 59 volatile compounds. The results of the aroma extracts dilution analysis (AEDA) revealed 19 most odour-active compounds with FD factors in the range of 32–128 as the key odourants of the pineapple breads. Further analysis of the similarities and differences between the pineapple breads in terms of the key odourants were carried out by the application of PLS-DA and PLS-regression coefficients. Results showed that Ppb exhibited strong positive correlations with most of the volatile- and non-volatile compounds, while the Cpb showed significant positive correlations with hexanal and 4-hydroxy-2,5-dimethyl-3(2H)-furanone, and the Fpb had strong positive correlations with lactic acid, benzoic acid, benzaldehyde and ethyl propanoate.
  • Synthesis of α-hydroxyphosphonates and their antioxidant properties
Kalla Reddi Mohan Naidu, Krishnammagari Suresh Kumar, Palanisamy Arulselvan, Chinnappareddy Bhupendra Reddy, Ola Lasekan
    Archiv Der Pharmazie, 2012
A series of α‐hydroxyphosphonates were synthesized from the reaction of aldehyde (1) with triethylphosphite (2) in the presence of oxone and evaluated for their antioxidant properties against lipid peroxidation, reduced glutathione, superoxide dismutase, and catalase. The majority of the compounds showed promising antioxidant activity. Diethyl anthracen‐9‐yl (hydroxy) methylphosphonate (3n) is the most potent and biologically active compound against free radicals.

Polyethyleneglycol bound sulfonic acid (PEG-OSO3H), a chlorosulphonic acid-modified polyethylene glycol was successfully used as an efficient and eco-friendly polymeric catalyst in the synthesis of 14-aryl/heteroaryl-14H-dibenzo[a,j]xanthenes obtained from the reaction of 2-naphthol and carbonyl compounds under solvent-free conditions with short reaction times and excellent yields. The biological properties of these synthesized title compounds revealed that compounds 3b, 3c, 3f and 3i showed highly significant anti-viral activity against tobacco mosaic virus.

Synthesis of 1‐substituted‐1,3,2‐diazaphosphole 1‐oxides (3a–l) were accomplished via a two‐step process. It involves the preparation of diazaphospholo 1‐oxide monochloride intermediate (2) and its subsequent reaction with phenols/amino acid esters in dry THF in the presence of triethylamine at 40–45°C. The structures of newly synthesized compounds were characterized by spectral and elemental analysis. The title compounds were evaluated for their in‐vitro antioxidant properties.
