An Improved CNN for Automatic Localization of Pure Orbital Blowout Fractures in CT Images Omar Ahmed Mahmood, Afzan Adam, Ahmed Sabeeh Yousif, Abd Jabar Nazimi IEEE Access, 2025 Pure orbital blowout fractures (POBF) are difficult to localize on computed tomography (CT) because fracture lines are thin, low-contrast, and easily confounded by periorbital anatomy. The performance of conventional detectors is degraded in small-object regimes due to strided downsampling and brittle non-maximum suppression (NMS) post-processing. A lightweight convolutional neural network for precise POBF localization is proposed; it is built on MobileNetV2, augmented with channel- and spatial-attention (CBAM), and equipped with a space-to-depth (SPD) module by which high-frequency detail is preserved in lieu of striding. A regression-only improved region proposal network (IRPN) is employed, in which anchor classification and NMS are removed. Data were split at the patient level into 80:10:10 from 9000 images were used for train, test and validation data, Before training, images were resized to standardize feature extraction, augmented, and enhanced. Under identical settings, a training IoU of 0.9518, a validation IoU of 0.9473, and a centroid localization error of 0.0210 were achieved, demonstrating accurate, robust localization while a compact footprint suitable for near real-time use was maintained. An effective solution for precise POBF localization on positive-only cohorts is provided by preserving fine spatial cues (via SPD), focusing salient structures (via CBAM), and simplifying proposal generation (via a regression-only IRPN).

A new approach to solving Transportation Model Based on the Standard Deviation Omar Ahmed Mahmood, Ahmed Sabeeh Yousif, Falah Y. H. Ahmed Shamsuddin Iscaie 2020 IEEE 10th Symposium on Computer Applications and Industrial Electronics, 2020 In this research a new proposed method has been developed to find the optimal solution for transportation model, in this method, we computed the standard deviation to the costs for all rows and columns in the problem. Then the comparison with Vogel's approximation method (VAM) by using 10 different problems for the transportation models with different dimension has been analyzed, it is through compute the transportation costs. The results demonstrated that high efficiency for the suggested method compare with (VAM), where the total cost for all transportation problems by using suggested method are equal or less than the total cost of the (VAM). Due to the proposed method is a straight forward extension of classical method, the proposed method is more powerful to understand and to re-apply real life application of transportation problem for the decision markers purpose.
