  • Small signal stability in a Microgrid using PSO based Battery storage system
    B V Divya, N V Archana, N Latha, Usha Surendra
2022 IEEE Industrial Electronics and Applications Conference Ieacon 2022, 2022
This papers covers, modelling and analysis of a small microgrid with Battery Storage System (BSS). A sample microgrid is considered, it is analyzed for small signal stability, with and without BSS. Voltage, frequency and current THD which are considered to be the major attributes of stability in a microgrid, the behavior of these attributes is observed with and without BSS. The Battery storage system is connected to the considered microgrid through PV array, using PSO algorithm, which improves the stability of the system. Simulation is carried out using MATAB/ Simulink and the results are presented. Microgrid considered consists of PV array, Diesel Generator and Battery storage system. These sources are modelled according to the loads connected to the microgrid. BSS acts as emergency backup to the considered system and also provides small signal stability to the microgrid. Simulation is carried out with BSS and without Battery Storage in the Islanded mode. The obtained results show that microgrid with BSS is more stable during small disturbances and also acts as backup power supply. A Properly modelled microgrid can act as power backup for industries.
  • Micro grid Communication Technologies: An Overview
    N Latha., B V Divya, Usha Surendra, N V Archana
2022 IEEE Industrial Electronics and Applications Conference Ieacon 2022, 2022
Micro grid is a small-scale power supply network designed to provide electricity to small community with integrated renewable energy sources. A micro grid can be integrated to the utility grid. Due to lack of computerized analysis, mechanical switches causing slow response time, poor visibility and situational awareness blackouts are caused due to cascading of faults. This paper presents a brief survey on communication technologies used in smart grid and its extension to micro grid. By integration of communication network, device control, information collection and remote management an intelligent power management system can be achieved
  • Hybrid Source Enabled 13 Level Symmetric Inverter with Reduced Switch Selection Strategy Using Particle Swarm Optimization

2022 IEEE North Karnataka Subsection Flagship International Conference Nkcon 2022, 2022
Power electronic inverters are gaining extensive attention in various industrial drive applications. Incorporating renewable energy sources with energy storage devices with efficient power electronic converters overcomes the major difficulties associated with carbon foot prints. Multi-level inverters are designed to achieve high power ratings, with reduced number of switches. Many of the researchers are focusing on issues that can minimize harmonics in order to obtain higher voltage levels. In this paper 13 level symmetric multi-level inverters, having a reduced number of switches by using particle swarm optimization technique, capacitors, diodes, are compared with other topologies and are simulated using MATLAB. Microcontroller is used to develop the required gating pulses for the inverter switches. The prototype hardware is developed which generates 13 level output voltage and the effectiveness was demonstrated using harmonic analysis with THD of 3.36%.
  • IOT enabled power monitoring and control of single phase induction motor
    B V Divya, N Latha, P Ashwinikumari
2021 International Conference on Emerging Smart Computing and Informatics Esci 2021, 2021
Nowadays IOT is used for monitoring the system data online. Data can be accessed by different users from any place to control different parameters of the machine using sensors. This paper focuses on online control of speed and temperature for given single phase induction motor. The Simulation of inverter for controlling the speed is carried out using PSIM. Data acquisition system collects information from the sensors and is stored in cloud. Further this data can control and monitor the power consumed by individual load.
  • Smart Garbage Collection Autonomous Vehicle

2021 4th International Conference on Recent Developments in Control Automation and Power Engineering Rdcape 2021, 2021
The Autonomous/semi-Autonomous vehicle can be used to carry garbage from one place to another place, which makes work easy and also during challenging situations, where medical wastes cannot be carried easily, this Smart garbage vehicle can be used. This paper concentrates on the selection of gadgets as a key empowering innovation in contemporary waste administration.A smart garbage collection vehicle is proposed, which has Raspberry Pi (Arm Cortex) has used for running the vehicle. The user will be given the application and hence when he/she registers through the app, GPS co-ordinates i.e., latitude and longitude of his/her location is uploaded or updated to the cloud. The cloud in return sends the co-ordinates to the GPS receiver of the station or the vehicle. The vehicle follows the co-ordinates and reaches the destination using the algorithm developed and then the vehicle picks the garbage and returns to the dump yard. Arduino uno used to calculate the current location of the vehicle. And copy the latitude and longitude to raspberry pi where the latitudes and longitudes are stored in the form of an array. By using the KML file the path has been assigned to the vehicle. It contains waypoints or GPS coordinates for each and every turns or points marked on a map in an order.
