Priority Based Efficient User Scheduling in Quadcopter Assisted 5G Network Sudeep Manohar, Kiran M 2024 Control Instrumentation System Conference Guiding Tomorrow Emerging Trends in Control Instrumentation and Systems Engineering Ciscon 2024, 2024 In the days to come the Fifth Generation (5G) communication is expected to replace Long Term Evolution (LTE) technology and provide seamless efficiency in terms of throughput and latency. 5G uses New Radio (NR) standards which makes use of higher frequency bands to achieve enormous data rate. In times of need 5G communication could be assisted by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) during emergency situations such as flood or earthquakes to provide temporary mobile communication service. Due to its ease of maneuverability, UAVs that are equipped with 5G antennas can be made to hover over the geographical areas where mobile communication service is required. But due to the power consideration of UAVs, they can take a payload of limited weight, which makes it to carry a small sized 5G antenna. Because of this it can serve less number of users leaving behind those users who actually need communication the most. And hence there is a need for scheduling prioritized users so that they get the emergency services first. The prioritized users may be the first responders during a disaster or the one who is running a high priority application. A priority based scheduling algorithm which is built on the existing Round Robin MAC scheduler is proposed in this article. More resource blocks (RB) are allotted to prioritized users so that they can send more data with low latency. Simulation is done to calculate throughput and latency which proves that the proposed priority based scheduling gives better performance when compared to the aforementioned existing scheduler.
Optimal Quadcopter Placement using Brute Force method for Efficient 5G Communication Keerthana Kanapuram, Priyanka B, Sudeep Manohar, Kiran M 2022 IEEE 7th International Conference for Convergence in Technology I2ct 2022, 2022 Quadcopters are finding its application in many areas nowadays. Fifth Generation (5G) mobile communication is one area where quadcopters can be made used to assist in providing mobile communication. Quadcopters can be deployed to provide 5G mobile network communication in areas where the network is down due to natural calamities. And there are situations where the network coverage has to be extended temporarily to provide temporary service on demand, for example, when there is an outdoor gathering at a place where mobile network coverage is unavailable. The quadcopters can also be used to assist terrestrial base stations, also called eNodeB, when it is down or overloaded with many users. In all the above cases the quadcopter can be made use of by making it to hover in the dedicated geographical area to provide 5G network service. The ideal height and exact location at which the quadcopter should hover is dependent on the number of users and how they are scattered in the area under consideration. This article focuses on ideal quadcopter placement by finding all the axes in 3 dimension for the quadcopter to hover so that the network coverage and Quality of Service (QoS) to all users is optimal.
