  • Mapping the Evolution of STEM Education Research in Africa
    Saloni Gupta, Jyoti Gupta
African Journal of Research in Mathematics Science and Technology Education, 2025
This research investigates the landscape of STEM education research in Africa using advanced bibliometric techniques. Using data from Scopus, we identified 1390 articles meeting the initial search criteria, refining the dataset to 449 articles after applying filters for article type, language and subject areas. The study employs various bibliometric methods, including performance evaluation, co-citation analysis, bibliographic coupling and scientific mapping, to identify key themes and conduct analyses. Through this extensive analysis, the research aims to uncover trends, collaboration networks and thematic patterns within the selected articles. The findings offer important information about the state of STEM education research in Africa, aiding evidence-based decision-making for policymakers, educators and researchers. The results present 187 scholarly articles from 1964 to 2024, having a 3.73% annual growth rate, an 11 years average document age, 11.84 average citations, 1276 author’s keywords, 925 authors and approximately 23% international collaborations. Overall, this dataset provides an important understanding of the evolution, trends and collaborative dynamics of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education research in Africa. Notably, this study contributes to the broader objective of Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4) by elucidating the role of STEM education in fostering inclusive and equitable quality education for all.

  • Is CSR still optional for Luxury Brands, or can they afford to ignore it?
    Saloni Gupta, Neha Bothra
International Journal of Experimental Research and Review, 2023
Can we learn survival and success in isolation? Can Luxury Companies afford to think of Corporate social responsibility (CSR) as an optional aspect? This paper discusses pioneering steps towards CSR in the context of the rapidly expanding luxury market. This further impels these brands to tradeoff between Profit-Planet, revisiting the initiatives and impediments pragmatically. The scholars have advocated the inspirational forces behind CSR contributions varying from the environment's need to strengthen goodwill to serve sustainability/existential crisis to institutional expectations. The stakeholders have augmented expectations from luxury brands towards society with each passing year in proportion to the revenue. This shift not only bags goodwill and promotes positive word-of-mouth in the industry but also enhances the brand's reputation. Luxury brands, often seen as symbols of opulence and exclusivity, are inherently expected to demonstrate social and environmental responsibility. Additionally, there is a growing awareness among consumers who seek brands that align with their values, making CSR a strategic imperative for luxury companies to maintain their brand reputation and customer loyalty. CSR is crucial for luxury companies, especially from a long-term sustainability and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) perspective. These market giants are at par with the SDG goals: SDG 1(No Poverty), SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 8 (Decent work and economic growth), SDG 10 (Reducing inequalities), SDG 12(Responsible Consumption and Production), etc. In essence, CSR is not just a moral imperative for luxury companies, it is a strategic necessity that aligns their business objectives with the global agenda for sustainable development, ensuring long-term viability and relevance in a rapidly evolving world.
  • Dupont analysis of luxury industry and market portfolio: A comparative study
    Neha Bothra, Saloni Gupta
    Indian Journal of Finance, 2020
The measurement of financial performance is primarily based on return on equity (ROE) ratio. The DuPont model analyzes the sources of financial performance (ROE) of a firm. The luxury industry tends to drive high profitability in the market vis-a-vis the market counterparts. Is this an enough evidence to believe that the ROE is majorly contributed by profitability of the luxury firms ? The study intended to test the impact of firms’ profitability, asset efficiency, and financial leverage on ROE in the luxury industry (LI) and the non-luxury industry (NLI). The paper conducted the DuPont analysis, and a comparison between luxury industry and non-luxury industry was drawn. The empirical findings claimed that the maximum beta-coefficient was contributed by efficiency of a firm, which was measured by ATR for dependent variable ROE. On establishing a comparison, the results were found to be similar even in the luxury industry.
