  • Exploring asymmetric shocks of carbon emissions to renewable energy sustainability indicators using the NARDL approach
Anshul Agrawal, Rajesh Agarwal, Sanjeev Kadam, Ved Prakash, Shweta Anand
International Journal of Innovation Science, 2026
Purpose This study aims to explore the short- and long-run asymmetric link between carbon emission (CE), renewable energy generation (REG), renewable energy capacity (REC), renewable energy investment (REI) and energy demand (ED) to analyze the impact of positive and negative asymmetric shocks of carbon emissions. Design/methodology/approach The nonlinear autoregressive distributed lag (NARDL) model was used to capture the asymmetric effects of the independent variables REG, REC, REI and ED on the dependent variable CE from 1990 to 2024. Findings The findings suggest that all independent variables are associated with the CE in the long run. This relationship confirms that changes in REG, REC, REI and ED significantly impact the CE. The results indicate that positive shocks in renewable energy generation have a stronger impact on emission reduction than negative shocks have on increasing emissions. The short-run asymmetric value of REG is 1.371, which is positive and significant at a 1% level, indicating that changes in REG do not have a stagnant effect on CE. Research limitations/implications Firstly, the analysis focuses on aggregate renewable energy generation and does not differentiate between different types of renewables (e.g. solar, wind, hydro). Future studies could explore the individual effects of different renewable energy sources on emissions and additional variables such as energy prices and government subsidies for the clean energy investment. Practical implications The study has several policy and practical implications. First, policymakers should prioritize expanding renewable energy infrastructure, as the impact of increasing renewable energy generation is more pronounced in reducing emissions than the adverse effects of its reduction. Governments should design policies that encourage sustained investment in renewable energy to ensure long-term emission reductions. Originality/value The annual data on CE, REC, REG, REI and ED from the International Energy Agency and International Renewable Energy Agency for the period of 1990–2024 were used to incorporate carbon emissions during the Paris Agreement and the COVID-19 pandemic.

  • Effect of traditional and non-traditional energy sources on SDG 7.1 access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy: study of BRICS nations
Rajnish Yadav, Shweta Anand, Kavita Singh
Organizational Resilience and Leadership Issues in the Dynamic Era, 2026
Investments in clean and sustainable energy sources are desperately needed in light of the world’s rising energy demand in order to prevent an energy crisis and meet our energy needs. The energy system’s sustainability is one of the key contributing elements to the achievement of sustainable development. The world is still a long way from having affordable, dependable, sustainable, and modern energy for all, despite enormous strides in the last ten years in increasing access to power, boosting the use of renewable energy in the electrical sector, and improving energy efficiency. The study has focused on the Sustainable Development (SDG) 7.1 Ensure affordable energy to all as the dependent variables and independent variables are for this study are share of coal (SC, in %) of primary energy, fossil fuels (in %) of primary energy, share of renewables (in %) of energy production and share of different sources of renewable energy sources. The study has used the FMOLS to check the robustness of the model, before that we have analyzed the heteroskedasticity by using Breusch-Pagan-Godfrey test, unit root test to check the stationery and descriptive test of the variables. The results of this study are in Brazil SC shows a negative effect on modern energy services (EUA), whereas in Russia it is not significant, share of renewables, different renewable energy sources show positive significant effects on EUA. India exhibits strong positive effects on EUA from all variables, SC and renewables (SR) positively affect EUA in South Africa. This study can help to form polices related to the mix of modern energy sources of electricity generation (renewable energy sources) with traditional sources of electricity generation (Fossil fuel based).

Overall the rich hands-on practical experience that I gained in the Financial Services and IT Industry helped me understand the Banking Financial Services and Insurance (BFSI) from multiple dimensions. Moreover, working in Indian Financial institutio and with MNCs for global clients like UBS, Goldman Sacs, Citibank, SCB etc. gave me a rich exposure to different laws and practices in BFSI in various parts of the world. Did SWOT analysis of the Clients and the BFSI Industry each day using Gratners and Forrester' websites (which were paid access provided by the company). Also extensively used Bridge call meetings for discussing future strategy with the rest of the country heads in Industry Exposure enriches my Academics journey.

STARTUP

I have worked closely with several Self Help Groups of marginalized women for the last two decades. I help motivate them with real-life stories. role model discussion etc. Also, they are encouraged to start their livelihoods towards financial freedom and social upliftment. Of late the change on this front has been to focus on Green Occupations to ensure more and more sustainable livelihoods at the grassroots level.

As SPOC of Unnat Bharat Abhiyan UBA, We work along with volunteers in a few villages that have been adopted by the university. We work on cleanliness drives, personal hygiene discussions, sustainable livelihoods and solid waste management.

My past Research and Development has resulted in several Patents and Copyrights. However, they have not been converted into a commercially viable startup.

I am also closely associated with the Enterprise Incubation Centre EIC of IIM Lucknow which is at Noida Centre. I am actively involved in their panel discussions, proposal evaluations, Investor meets, etc.

I occasionally collaborate with the Foundation for Innovation and Technology Transfer (FITT). Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi campus to evaluate various innovative startups and discuss future growth trajectory.
