  • Global Value Chain and International Alliance Strategy: Analysis of Local Cocoa Commodities from West Sulawesi in the International Market

    The lower cost of trade between countries has led to increased trade activities with the Global Value Chains (GVC) scheme and the International Alliance Strategy which have been proven to provide many benefits for countries, including accelerated industrialization, technology transfer, employment absorption, and increased industrial value. Participation in GVC consists of two components, forward and backward participation, which have different characteristics. This study aims to identify the analysis of GVC strategies for primary commodities of West Sulawesi cocoa in the international market. The study was conducted using qualitative methods and international trade theory and the Global Value Chain approach using literature studies and interviews. The location of the study was Polewali Mandar Regency, West Sulawesi, one of the provinces with the largest cocoa production in Indonesia. The results of this study indicate that in the supply chain, collaboration and cooperation are very significant from various stakeholders, both from the government, entrepreneurs in this case Barry Callebaut, Cocoa Horizon, PT Bumi Surya Selaras
  • Measuring Radicalism in International Relations: an Analysis and Interpretation in West Sulawesi

    The dynamics of social life in Indonesia are increasingly developing along with developments in the order of life which have a direct impact on relations between communities and the relationship between society and government. The development of information technology and the unavoidable level of globalization are accelerating the pace of change in social movements, which were previously just ordinary movements, into organized social movements in the economic, political, social, and religious fields. This research uses qualitative methods that focus on in-depth interviews and library research as support. The birth of social movements is the impact of democratic principles which provide space and opportunities for people to fight for constitutional rights. The development of information technology on social movements needs to receive government attention, even though social movements are part of the principles of constitutional democracy. It is feared that social movements that are not paid attention to by the government in the current era of globalization will be influenced by radicalism which threatens the stability of the government, including in West Sulawesi Province, which is not impossible if social movements in the form of radicalism movements also develop rapidly. Using the soul approach will certainly be a way to suppress the actions of radicalism movements in West Sulawesi
  • Economic determination in increasing agricultural production in Lamongan district

    Agriculture is an important factor in the basic economic sustainability of the population of Lamongan Regency. The large number of people whose livelihoods are farmers makes agriculture as the main commodity of the local community. It is undeniable that the agricultural sector in Lamongan Regency is an agricultural product contributing to the top ten of East Java’s GRDP. If agriculture occurs the problem will have an impact on the decline in agricultural production. The variables used in this study are labor, agricultural land, irrigation, subsidies as independent variables and the production of dependent variables. The methodology of this study uses a quantitative approach using multiple linear regression, partial tests, simultaneous tests and dominant tests. The data source in this study was conducted in the period between 2010-2018 with the approach of 3 multiple linear regression models, so that it can compare the models that look good and have an impact on agricultural production. The analytical tool used in this study was eviews 10. The results of this study partially occurred a positive relationship between labor, land, and irrigation to production, while partially a negative relationship occurred between subsidies to production. But simultaneously there is a simultaneous or joint relationship between labor, land, irrigation and subsidies affecting production. The dominant value of the four variables of labor, agricultural land, irrigation and subsidies is in the labor force.
