Role of Public Libraries in the Evolution of Digital Bharat into Atmanirbhar Bharat Vanita Khanchandani Public Library Quarterly, 2022 Access to information is the hallmark of democracy. The government of India is trying its best to provide free and timely information to all citizens. For bringing effectiveness and efficiency in the governance, an electronic mode of governing has been adopted. This paper endeavors to relate the digital transformation of Bharat and various information needs of citizens. The article also highlights how public libraries can help in achieving the goals of digital Bharat and end with the discussion that the government should frame the proper policy for the provision of e-government services in public libraries.
Mapping of e-books in science & technology: An analytical study of directory of open access books Vanita Khanchandani, , Moveen Kumar, and Desidoc Journal of Library and Information Technology, 2017 A detailed study of e-books in Science and Technology indexed in Directory of Open Access Books (DOAB) till May 15, 2016 is presented. Open access publishers, licenses and language-wise distribution of e-books indexed in DOAB is examined. The data collected only on the subjects listed in DDC-23 under Science and Technology domain. The results depicts that there are 1052 e-books indexed in Science and Technology in DOAB. The collection includes e-books that are both made-digital and born digital. Maximum books are on health sciences and published in English only. Mostly e-books have creative commons license. Moreover, Frontier Media SA is the most active open access e-book publisher. The study shall be helpful to library and information professionals as well as open access publishers.
Marketing of library resources, services and products: A case study of IIT Delhi Vanita Khanchandani, Nabi Hasan Desidoc Journal of Library and Information Technology, 2016 Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi is one of the premier institutes of India and was established in 1961. To cater the research and the teaching needs of the institute, Central Library, IIT Delhi is providing different resources, services and products to the faculty and the students. To maximise the usage and for increasing the importance, libraries in the present era around the world are adopting the different marketing strategies. Marketing besides providing sustainability, also helps in realising the goals of libraries.This paper provides a comprehensive overview on different marketing strategies adopted by libraries with special reference to Central Library, IIT Delhi for reaching to its users and to increase the outreach. The paper is intended to help professionals and the library users in knowing the various resources, services and products provided by the Central Library, IIT Delhi as a model to be explored and followed by other libraries and their administrators.DOI: 10.14429/djlit.36.3.9813
