Management Systems in Production Engineering, 2025
The dynamic changes across various industries are creating uncertainty, potentially leading to a state of risk. All industries are required to formulate mitigation actions for downside risks that have negative effects and leverage on upside risks, those with positive impacts. Despite various mitigation actions, only a few industries are capable of implementing risk management to address the dynamic changes. The refore, this qualitative research aimed to investigate the effectiveness of risk management guided by ISO 31000:2018 in navigating risks as a strategic approach for the industry to achieve a sustainable future. The investigation focused on the application of risk management in the textile manufacturing industry in Indonesia. The initial stages commenced with defining risk management scope, context, and criteria, followed by risk assessment consisting of identification, analysis, and evaluation, as well as formulating risk treatment. Heads of production, finance, and purchasing departments were selected as key informants through judgment sampling, where the results of semi-structured interviews served as primary data. Furthermore, operational, financial, strategic, technological, and informational risks were identified in the industry. The results showed that among the 109 downside and 20 upside risks, 10 were categorized as high-level and prioritized for handling. A total of 52 actions were determined as a treatment to navigate the high-level risks. The results showed that the ISO 31000:2018 guideline effectively addressed industry risk management needs, offering potential solutions to overcome the dynamic changes.

International Journal of Public Sector Performance Management, 2025
Government employees, as public officers, play an essential role in the development of a country through their services to society. However, monotonous and administrative routine work needs to be balanced with public officers' innovation capability to provide benefits and solutions to every problem in society. Therefore, this quantitative study was conducted with empirical analysis to determine the factors responsible for the development of public officers' innovation capability. The sample data consists of 100 local public officers serving in Lebak Regency, Indonesia, with the descriptive analysis and inferential statistics used to examine the relationship between organisational, social, and human capital. Out of the five tested hypotheses, only two were accepted. The results showed that government institutions are promoted to consider human and organisational capitals as the main basis for increasing employees' innovation capability. Conversely, social capital harms human capital and innovation capability.

Facebook has developed into much more than just a social media platform since its 2004 launch, changing the way businesses engage with their customers and emerging as a powerful player in the field of digital marketing. Due to the increased attention this evolution has received from academia, extensive research has been conducted on a number of Facebook marketing-related topics, such as customer engagement, brand building, and consumer data collection. Using Scopus as a data source, we conducted a bibliometric analysis in this study to thoroughly review the literature on Facebook marketing and identify important trends, hotspots, and areas in need of further research. 133 pertinent publications from 2009 to 2023 were found by our analysis, underscoring Facebook's significance in digital marketing. This study sheds light on several Facebook marketing research themes, including the efficacy of advertising, consumer behavior on social networks, ethics, and privacy. Furthermore, we found that research is scattered worldwide indicating differences in digital marketing connected to society, economy, and culture. Topics such artificial intelligence, cross-cultural marketing, and the consequences of Facebook algorithm modifications still have more to be discovered even with the wealth of studies. This study supports the relevance of Facebook in digital marketing, indicates areas that demand more research for a better knowledge of the successful use of Facebook in marketing strategies, and provides insight for academics and practitioners.
  • Buyers-sellers’ value of courier services: assessment in the Indonesian C2C e-commerce

International Journal of Retail and Distribution Management, 2023
PurposeThe quality of service provided by a courier service plays an essential role in the success of online shopping. Meanwhile, buyers and sellers tend to choose a vendor that meets their expectations. This study aims to show how buyers and sellers value the decision to select a courier service based on online shopping experiences.Design/methodology/approachA focus group discussion involving eight participants was used to gather consumer preferences and seller perspectives. Kansei Engineering principles were applied to organize these variables into a priority-scaled survey question. Furthermore, 200 respondents were simple-randomly selected and categorized based on age, gender, transaction frequency, average monthly transaction value and their role in online transactions.FindingsThis study found that buyers and sellers do not consider the delivery costs when the courier service guarantees the service quality. In contrast, the service quality offered is determined by problem-solving responsiveness, delivery accuracy and tracking systems. They also consider the short delivery time, wide delivery coverage area, couriers' attitude and scattered pick-up/drop point services. However, the order of priority is different for specific demographics.Practical implicationsIn the rapid development of the online shopping trend, courier services are urgent to reconstruct their business model and maintain the quality of service. The proper understanding of online consumer preferences and seller perspectives will form the basis of appropriate strategies.Originality/valueThe role of a courier service is significant in the supply chain of online shopping transactions that connect buyers and sellers. The differences in consumer preferences and seller perspectives are attributed to the diverse objectives, even though they are still related to the service quality of the courier service.
  • Work-from-home during pandemic of COVID-19: an investigation study on managers in Indonesia
    Elkana Timotius
International Journal of Productivity and Quality Management, 2023
The COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 forced organisations to change. To stop the outbreak, employees who work in offices turned to work-from-home. This study identifies the actual work-from-home conditions that managers are experiencing in Indonesia. One hundred and sixty managers from 74 companies in Indonesia who work-from-home during the pandemic were investigated in this qualitative analysis. Their condition while they are working from home was synthesised as the empirical findings. They indicate that working from home has the potential to change managers' productivity, professionalism level, and work quality. However, particular steps need to be taken to avoid negative impacts. Work and life integration is the key to working from home. The practical model of work-from-home is very useful for keeping professionalism, maintaining productivity, and optimising the performance of managers while working from home. It could be adapted by other countries that have a similar experience.
  • “The role of innovation in business strategy as a competitive advantage: Evidence from Indonesian MSMEs”
    Elkana Timotius
Problems and Perspectives in Management, 2023
The rapidly changing business climate and competition that has been getting stricter demand companies to have a proper strategy to grow and sustain their business. The objective of this quantitative study is to analyze the benefits of innovation in business strategy to create a competitive advantage for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME). Inferential statistical analysis was performed on three mediating variables: people innovation, process innovation, and product innovation, in their involvement in business strategies as an independent variable, against competitive advantage as a dependent variable. Twenty-nine MSMEs in Indonesia were used as a sample of this study to examine four hypotheses. Thirty indicators of five variables were transformed into 50 questions in a Likert-scale questionnaire distributed to selected respondents using purposive sampling. The results of the T-test show that business strategy has a significant effect on competitive advantage, which means that business strategy without innovations creates only 20.2% of its competitive advantage. On the other hand, Sobel test results demonstrate that innovations significantly mediate the influence of business strategies on companies’ competitive advantages. Finally, product innovation potentially increases the competitive advantages by 53.1%, followed by process innovation and people innovation by 47.2% and 44.5%. AcknowledgmentThe author would like to express special gratitude to the Department of Industrial Engineering at Universitas Kristen Krida Wacana, who supported this investigation, as well as all participating MSMEs. This study received no specific grant from any funding agency in the public, commercial, or not-for-profit sectors.
