Species survey of the Hylaeus subgenus Paraprosopis Popov, 1939 in the Eastern Hemisphere (Hymenoptera, Anthophila, Colletidae) Holger H. Dathe, Shuichi Ikudome, Volker Haeseler, Jagdish Saini Contributions to Entomology, 2026 This study provides an overview of the species of Hylaeus (Paraprosopis), in the Palaearctic region and adjacent areas. A total of 37 species are identified, each of which is presented with a morphological diagnosis and comparative description, and illustrations of the faces of both sexes and the main features of the male terminalia. In addition, information on the distribution is given. Identification keys for specific geographic areas are provided for the species. A more detailed study in the Canary Islands revealed three new species, Hylaeus (Paraprosopis) gomerensis Haeseler, sp. nov. , H. (Paraprosopis) hierro Haeseler, sp. nov. , and H. (Paraprosopis) palmensis Haeseler, sp. nov . Two known species are excluded from the subgenus Paraprosopis: Hylaeus omanicus Dathe, 1995 – now placed in subgenus Prosopis, comb. nov. ; Hylaeus krombeini Snelling, 1980 from Sri Lanka is provisionally placed as subgenus incertus.
Taxonomic notes on the little-known genus Cyanotiphia Cameron, 1907 (Hymenoptera: Tiphidae: Tiphinae) JAGDISH SAINI, DEVANSHU GUPTA, KAILASH CHANDRA, S.K. GUPTA Zootaxa, 2022 Cyanotiphia ruficauda Cameron, 1907 is the genotype of the monotypic genus Cyanotiphia Cameron, 1907. This species was previously known from a single female specimen, the holotype; after an extended period of 114 years, the male of this species is firstly described from North Sumatra, Indonesia. Material information of additional female records is also added.
A Catalogue of Indian Hydraenidae (Insecta: Coleoptera) JOYJIT GHOSH, JAGDISH SAINI, DEVANSHU GUPTA, SUJIT KUMAR GHOSH, KAILASH CHANDRA Zootaxa, 2022 This catalogue lists 46 valid species included in 7 genera and two subfamilies of the family Hydraenidae (Coleoptera), recorded from India. The subfamily Hydraeninae accommodates 24 species (5 genera), and Ochthebiinae 22 species (2 genera). We include synonyms, type localities, type depositories, and distribution of the species. The Himalayan region supports the maximum diversity (31 species), followed by Deccan Peninsula (5 species), Western-Ghats (5 species), Northeast (4 species), Gangetic Plains (4 species), Semi-Arid (2 species), and Islands (one species).
Contributions to the taxonomy of the genus Hylaeus in India, with an identification key and a new species (Hymenoptera: Colletidae) Jagdish Saini, Kailash Chandra, Hirdesh Kumar Oriental Insects, 2022 A new species Hylaeus (Paraprospis) guptai Saini & Chandra sp. nov., is described from Jang (Arunachal Pradesh), India. Specimens were collected from flowers of Coriander (Coriandrum sativum L.) during April 2018. In addition, Braunsapis chandrai syn. nov. is recognised as synonym of Hylaeus (Indialaeus) strenuus. A key and a checklist of Hylaeus species from India is provided.http://www.zoobank.org/urn:lsid:zoobank.org:pub:7139F2C9-FF8D-49CB-9911-1CCABD9E72C2
Diversity of bee pollinators in Acharya Jagadish Chandra Bose Indian Botanic Garden, Kolkata, West Bengal, India A. Rameshkumar, P. Ghosh, J. Saini, S.I. Kazmi Journal of Entomological Research, 2021 AbstractA total of six surveys were conducted and 93 bee pollinators belonging to eight species in four genera under two families were collected. Out of 93 bee specimens, 57 were collected through yellow pan traps and remaining 36 by net sweeping method. The abundance and species richness analyses also clearly show that more fluctuations occur during the three months (February -April, 2018) correlated to the alteration/modification of habitat and increase in temperature and humidity.
Description of a new species of genus Melitta (Hymenoptera: Melittidae) from India Jagdish Saini, Kailash Chandra, Hirdesh Kumar Oriental Insects, 2020 Melitta (Melitta) indica Saini & Chandra sp. nov. a new species of genus Melitta Kirby, 1802, collected from the Uttarakhand, India has been described. There are 50 species of this genus known from all over the world, out of which three species recorded from India. The new species is the fourth species of Melitta Kirby, 1802 from India. A key to species of Melitta from India is provided.http://www.zoobank.org/urn:lsid:zoobank.org:pub:FB11A3C4-7092-4DF9-B43E-8A3AFB69BE5E
A new species from India with a key to all known species of the genus Anaptygus Mistshenko, 1951 (Orthoptera: Acrididae) HIRDESH KUMAR, KAILASH CHANDRA, JAGDISH SAINI Zootaxa, 2020 A new species of the genus Anaptygus Mistshenko, 1951, Anaptygus shishodiai Kumar & Chandra sp. nov., from Valley of Flowers National Park, India is described in this paper. The new species is similar to A. qinghaiensis Yin, 1984, but differs from latter by length of fastigial foveolae 5.5 times its width in male and 3.2 times in female; apex of elytra reaching posterior margin of third abdominal tergite in male and reaching posterior margin of first abdominal tergite in female. A key to all the known species of Anaptygus Mistshenko, 1951 is also provided.
