URBAN HEAT ISLAND DYNAMICS IN RESPONSE TO LAND COVER CHANGE IN URBAN AREA: A CASE STUDY OF MEDIUM-SIZED CITY, MAJENE, INDONESIA Isfa Sastrawati, Reyhan Regisha, Ihsan -, Abdul Rachman Rasyid Planning Malaysia, 2025 The urbanization process often results in reduced green space, increased electricity consumption, and the use of fossil-fuel vehicles. It triggers urban heat islands (UHI)—a phenomenon characterized by increasing surface temperatures in urban spaces. This impacts thermal comfort, quality of life, and the environment. This study aims to identify UHI based on the land cover change in Majene Urban Area, a medium-sized city that acts as a center for educational activities in the province of West Sulawesi in Indonesia. Interpretation of satellite imagery in 2011 and 2022 was carried out to determine land cover changes, including built-up land, open land, agricultural vegetation, non-agricultural vegetation, and waters. Then, UHI is analyzed by measuring brightness temperature, normalized difference vegetation Index (NDVI), the proportion of vegetation, land surface emissivity, and land surface temperature. The UHI calculation is divided into four temperature classes: Non-UHI (<0°C), UHI I (0-2°C), UHI II (2-4°C), and UHI III (>4°C) to simplify the spatial analysis of affected areas. The results indicate that while land cover in Majene City has not changed significantly, UHI dynamics are evident in temperature class. This supports previous studies in larger cities, where increased built-up areas raise surface temperatures, though the effect is less pronounced in Majene. However, Majene still experiences temperature rises of over 4°C due to expanding land use for settlements, offices, and services. Therefore, it is crucial to develop strategies that balance built-up areas with green spaces and promote sustainable urban planning to mitigate the impacts of climate change.

Community Capacity and Resilience in Facing The Threat of Fire Disaster (Case Study: Barrang Lompo Island, Makassar City) Z Pattimahu, A R Rasyid, I Sastrawati, Y K D Sutopo Iop Conference Series Earth and Environmental Science, 2023 This research is based on the high intensity of fires in dense residential areas of Makassar City, which is caused by high vulnerability to fire and low community capacity and resilience. Barrang Lompo Island is an area with a fairly high population and density of buildings. So that the potential of fires is also likely to occur on Barrang Lompo. This study aimed to identify the level of community capacity and resilience using a community capital framework approach. The capacity stage analysis is carried out by converting qualitative data into a capacity assessment scale. Then, using expert opinion to assess the value of each variable using AHP method. Furthermore, classifying the level of Community capacity is classified using the scoring method. The results show that community capacity are classified as moderate to high, with a score of 1.89-2.31. In general, the capacity and resilience of fire, including individual capabilities, social capital, local culture, natural and physical capital, are moderate to high. Meanwhile, policy and financial aspects are quite low. In conclusion, to improve community resilience, it is recommended to improve individual preparedness through education, create a small island fire management policy, provide emergency transport and improve the local economy.
The Use of GIS Analysis for Disaster Mitigation in Tikala District, Toraja Utara Regency Abdul Rachman Rasyid, Aspriati Eva Tirsari, Ihsan, Mimi Arifin, Laode Muhammad Asfan Mujahid Aip Conference Proceedings, 2022 Tikala Sub-district has second-ranked with the most landslides in Toraja Utara Regency. Every year, Tikala Sub-district is hit by landslide induced rainfall and caused losses for settlements, roads and fatalities. However, in Planning Spatial Regulation of the Toraja Utara Regency 2010-2030, this sub-district is not included in landslide-hazard areas, so that area in this sub-district has not been carried for observed disaster mitigation aspects. There is still slope cutting activity for road widening and some buildings on steep slopes. Therefore, an area arrangement in terms of spatial use based on disaster mitigation in this sub-district is needed to reduce the potential for landslides and minimize their impact. The purposes of this study are to determine the direction of the arrangement of the Tikala Sub-district area based on landslide disaster mitigation by examining the level hazard and the pattern of landslide distribution. The data was collected by observation, documentation, and literature study then descriptive, spatial, and nearest neighbour (GIS analysis) were used to analyze. The results were structuring direction based on zone typology and level landslide hazard. The level of landslide hazard in this sub-district is divided into two classes are medium and high hazard classes. In addition, based on the result of the closest distribution index of 0.44, which means that the landslide in Tikala Sub-district has a clustering pattern.
Marketing Communication Strategy of Pandayangan Tourism Ulumahuam Village in Labuhan Batu Selatan Regency in Improving Tourism Visit Annisa Damayanti, Abdul Rasyid Daengku, 2022 Pandayangan Tourism is a natural tourist destination with a flowing river and beautiful natural surroundings, and it works in collaboration with the Labusel children's community. The study's goal was to identify and analyze Pandayangan tourism through the use of a Marketing Communication Strategy to Increase Tourist Visits. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach, with data gathered through interviews with tourism managers, observations, and literature searches. Integrated Marketing Communication is the theory employed (IMC). Based on the data analysis, it was determined that Pandayangan Tourism had implemented a marketing strategy during the promotion stage, which was accomplished by using mass selling and public relations methods, understanding the benefits and drawbacks of tourism products, and carrying out marketing objectives that emphasized increasing sales in order to increase visitors. Pandayangan tourism's marketing strategy activities include providing the best facilities for the convenience of visitors. Promotional activities, understanding the benefits and drawbacks of tourism products, and achieving marketing objectives are all concluded to always obtain and produce an increase in visitors.
Coral reefs on inhabited and uninhabited small islands, spermonde archipelago, Indonesia N. Nurdin, K. Amri, A. R. Rasyid, D. A. T. Pulubuhu, N. Nurdin, T. Komatsu International Archives of the Photogrammetry Remote Sensing and Spatial Information Sciences ISPRS Archives, 2021 The small islands in Indonesia is providing important ecosystem services. It is important to identify damages of a coral reef ecosystem and whether natural factors or anthropogenic factors are the main causes. Landsat images obtained with different sensors were analyzed for mapping coral reef on inhabited and uninhabited small islands, Spermonde archipelago, Indonesia. Overall accuracies of three habitats classification were 89.2% and 85.6%, respectively. They are live coral, dead coral and non-coral. Ground truth surveys were selected by using the unsupervised classification method The live coral in inhabited islands was slightly greater than in uninhabited. An increasing area of live coral was about 5.3 ha of the total area in 1990 per year while a decreasing of dead coral was 3.5 ha per year in inhabited islands. In uninhabited island, a decreasing speed of live coral habitat area was about 0.6 per year. During 29 years, a significant increase in the dead coral and decrease in live corals. It has been identified that the significant controlling factor for the disturbances in reef ecosystem is derived from natural and anthropogenic.
