Supramolecular Pt and Pd Complexes of 4,4′-Dipyridylditelluride/Diselenide Ligands through Self-Assembly Sandip Dey, Kotipalli V. Vivekananda, Nattamai Bhuvanesh European Journal of Inorganic Chemistry, 2018 The self‐assembly of 4,4′‐dipyridylditelluride/diselenide and M(OTf)2 {M = cis‐[Pt(PEt3)2]2+ or cis‐[Pd(dppe)]2+; dppe = 1,2‐bis(diphenylphosphino)ethane} yields [M(µ2‐4,4′‐py2E2)]n(OTf)2n (E = Se, Te). The major and minor products, indistinguishable by simple proton NMR and phosphorus NMR spectroscopy, can be detected by heteronuclear (77Se, 125Te, and 195Pt) NMR spectroscopy. The respective dimeric and trimeric structures are assigned by ESI and MALDI‐TOF mass spectrometry, and for the first time, their equilibria have been established. The rhomboid shape of the dimeric complex containing the Pt–N bond is confirmed by its X‐ray diffraction structure. The formation of the cluster‐type minor product [Pd3(µ‐E)2(dppe)3](OTf)2 has also been identified in the reactions of the Pd complexes.
Reactivity of 4-Pyridyltellurolate with Pd(II)/Pt(II) Complexes Sandip Dey, Kotipalli V. Vivekananda, Amey P. Wadawale, Vimal K. Jain, Nattamai Bhuvanesh Chemistryselect, 2017 Reactions of 4‐pyridyltellurolate with various palladium and platinum complexes have been investigated. Treatment of MCl 2 (dppe) and two equivalents of Na(4‐TeC 5 H 4 N) gave cis ‐[M(4‐TeC 5 H 4 N) 2 (dppe)] (M=Pd ( 1 ), Pt ( 2 )). Similar reactions of MCl 2 (dppm) exclusively yielded unexpected products, [Pd 2 (μ 3 ‐Te)(μ 2 ‐4‐TeC 5 H 4 N)(4‐TeC 5 H 4 N)(μ‐dppm)] 2 (M=Pd ( 3 )) and [Pt{(Ph 2 P) 2 C(4‐TeC 5 H 4 N)} 2 ] (M=Pt ( 4 )). The cis and trans forms of [PdCl(4‐TeC 5 H 4 N)(PPh 3 )] 2 ( 6 a, 6 b ) could be isolated from the reaction of polymeric complex [PdCl 2 (4,4′‐(C 5 H 4 N) 2 Te 2 )] n ( 5 ) and PPh 3 . All the phosphine complexes have been characterized by NMR and X‐ray crystallography. Complex 3 contains bridging dppm ligand whereas 4 is formed via deprotonation of methylene carbon of dppm ligand.
Supramolecular Macrocyclic Pd(II) and Pt(II) Squares and Rectangles with Aryldithiolate Ligands and their Excellent Catalytic Activity in Suzuki C-C Coupling Reaction K. V. Vivekananda, S. Dey, D. K. Jain Inorganic Chemistry, 2015 Addition of 1,4-benezenedithiol and 4,4′-biphenyldithiol to M(OTf)2 (M = cis-[Pt(PEt3)2]2+ or cis-[Pd(dppe)]2+) (dppe = 1,2-bis(diphenylphosphino)ethane) gave self-assembled tetranuclear complexes [M2{S(C6H4)nS}]2(OTf)4 (n = 1, 2). The same reaction with 1,4-benezenedimethanethiol yielded octanuclear supramolecular coordination complexes (SCC) [M2{SCH2C6H4CH2S}]4(OTf)8. These complexes were characterized by NMR, mass, and UV–vis spectroscopies, cyclic voltammetry, as well as density functional theory studies and represent the first examples of SCCs constructed by thiolate groups and square-planar metal ions. The rectangular shape of tetranuclear complexes and square shape of octanuclear complex are confirmed by single-crystal structures and computational studies. The palladium complexes showed excellent catalytic activity in Suzuki C–C cross-coupling reactions with high turnover numbers (2 × 107), even with low catalyst loading.
