Multi agent system for boundary detection and object tracking in image sequence based on active contours Abdelkader Fekir, Nacéra Benamrane Multiagent and Grid Systems, 2015 This paper proposes a new multi agent system for boundary detection and object tracking in image sequence. It exploits advantages of three elements: multi agent solution, active contour model and multi resolution treatment. The proposed system is organized as multi level structure where each level is composed of many cooperative agents. In edge detection step, snake agents in higher level of image pyramid cooperate to get object boundaries in low resolution image. Then, it transmits its result to subsystem agents of inferior level and these ones cooperate to refine object edge in next image, and so on. In the second step, high level agents migrate to the next pyramid for tracking edges in the next image of sequence, in parallel with detection step of inferior subsystem in previous image, using the same cooperation and scheduling strategy. The efficiency of the system is shown through some experimental results.
Fast active contour for object tracking in image sequence Abdelkader Fekir, Nacera Benamrane Proceedings of IEEE ACS International Conference on Computer Systems and Applications Aiccsa, 2014 This paper proposes a segmentation method of 2D image sequence based on active contour or snake. We define energy functional of active contour for detecting object in first frame of sequence. Then, the final snake is used as initial snake in the next frame. Our idea of tracking object is achieved by change of energy functional. Therefore, we substitute balloon energy of first energy functional by new energy. We propose a new formula of this new energy that guarantees fast tracking of movement of snake points. Hence, rapidity of our active contour is based on three notions: proposed initialization, change of energy functional and new motion energy. The efficiency of our approach is shown through some experimental results using three image sequences: synthetic sequence, moving biological cell sequence and echocardiograph image sequence. Its rapidity is justified by runtime comparison with a conventional method.

Fekir Proceedings of the International Conference on Information Visualisation, 2005 In this paper, we propose an approach based on the RBF neural networks and the genetic algorithms for magnetic resonance (MR) brain images segmentation. In the feature extraction stage, nine features are calculated and used as RBF network inputs. The genetic algorithm build automatically a RBF NN (It determines the number of hidden neurons, and their respective centers and radii). Nets' fitness is calculated by using the mean square error.
