Post-Consumption Commitment and Electronic Word-of-Mouth in Recreational Sport Tourism: The Moderating Role of Social Media Familiarity Nuraimi Othman, Basri Rashid, Asmahany Ramely, Eko Purnomo Balneo and Prm Research Journal, 2026 Recreational sport-related tourism has become an important avenue for enhancing tourist experiences and promoting destinations through digital platforms. However, limited re-search has examined how tourists' post-consumption commitment translates into differ-ent forms of electronic word-of-mouth (eWOM) within this context. This study investigates the influence of commitment on textual, pictorial, and video-based eWOM responses and examines the moderating role of social media familiarity. A cross-sectional survey was administered to 415 tourists participating in sport-related activities across major Malaysi-an islands. Data were analysed using regression-based moderation analysis (PROCESS Macro). The findings indicate that commitment significantly predicts all three forms of eWOM. Social media familiarity strengthens the relationship between commitment and textual eWOM but does not moderate pictorial or video responses. These results extend understanding of post-consumption behaviour in sport-related tourism and offer practical insights for destination managers seeking to enhance online visibility through visitor-generated content.
Analysis of Physical Activity on Positive Youth Development Based on the 5Cs Model Eko Purnomo, Alonzo L. Mortejo, Amin Akbar, Mutiara Felicita Amsal, Burhan Hambali, et al. Balneo and Prm Research Journal, 2026 Adolescence represents a critical developmental stage in which positive competencies and psychosocial strengths must be nurtured to support lifelong wellbeing. Within the Positive Youth Development (PYD) framework, the 5Cs model comprising competence, confidence, connection, character, and caring provides a comprehensive lens for understanding thriving among youth. Given the growing concerns regarding sedentary lifestyles, examining the contribution of physical activity to these developmental assets is increasingly urgent. This study aimed to analyze the influence of physical activity levels on Positive Youth Development based on the 5Cs model in adolescents. A quantitative cross-sectional analytical design was employed. The study involved 144 adolescents aged 19 years or older selected through random sampling. Physical activity levels were measured using the International Physical Activity Questionnaire–Short Form (IPAQ-SF), while PYD was assessed using a 28-item 5Cs-based Positive Youth Development Scale. The instrument demonstrated excellent reliability (Cronbach’s Alpha = 0.926). Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, normality testing, Pearson correlation, and linear regression analysis. The results indicated a positive relationship between physical activity and PYD. Correla-tion coefficients increased across activity categories (low r = 0.60; moderate r = 0.66; high r = 0.72), while the overall correlation was moderate (r = 0.37). These findings suggest that higher levels of physical activity are associated with stronger positive developmental out-comes. In conclusion, physical activity contributes meaningfully to the development of the 5Cs among adolescents. It is recommended that schools and community programs pro-mote structured and sustained physical activity to optimize positive youth development.
Social Media Engagement in Sports Clubs: A COBRA-Based Analysis of Age and Club Division Effect Al Siyabi Issam, Jaffry Zakaria, Omar Firdaus Mohd Said, Mohd Shariman Shafie, Eko Purnomo Balneo and Prm Research Journal, 2025 Sports teams use social media to boost fan loyalty and competitiveness. Brands and cus-tomers use social media for various reasons. Football fans' social media activity and whether age and club position (first or second division) are statistically significant varia-bles will be examined in this study. Using a descriptive quantitative design, data were col-lected from 939 followers of 50 Omani football clubs across Twitter, Facebook, and Insta-gram. Fan engagement was analyzed through the Consumers’ Online Brand-Related Ac-tivities (COBRA) framework, which includes consumption, contribution, and creation ac-tivities. The results revealed that consumption activities dominated fan behavior (M = 4.71, SD = 1.54), followed by contribution (M = 3.92, SD = 1.53) and creation (M = 3.18, SD = 1.63). The most frequent activity was “watching videos posted by the sports club” (M = 5.00, SD = 1.94). Statistical analysis using ANOVA indicated no significant differences in engage-ment levels across age groups or between first and second division clubs (p > 0.05), sug-gesting a consistent engagement pattern among fans. The reliability coefficient (Cronbach’s α = 0.95) confirmed strong internal consistency of the instrument. These find-ings demonstrate that Omani football fans primarily act as passive consumers rather than active contributors or creators. Therefore, sports clubs should prioritize visual and video-based content to enhance engagement. The study validates the COBRA model in the Omani sports context and provides practical insights for developing effective, inclusive social media strategies.
Servant Leadership and the Social Identity of Athletes: An Analysis of the Impact on Mental Health in the Training and Competition Arena I Kadek Suardika, Arief Ibnu Haryanto, Sylva Flora Ninta Tarigan, Meyke Parengkuan, Ahmad Zulfiqar Ibnu Safrin Kaawoan, et al. Balneo and Prm Research Journal, 2025 This study examines the influence of servant leadership and social identity on athletes' mental health in the context of training and competition. High psychological pressure on athletes triggers problems such as depression, anxiety, and stress that impact performance. This study aims to analyze the role of coach servant leadership and the strength of team social identity in mitigating these mental problems. Quantitative methods were applied through a survey of 200 athletes from various sports using three main instruments: the Servant Leadership Scale (SLS), the Social Identity in Sport Scale (SISS), and the Depression Anxiety Stress Scales (DASS-21). Data analysis using path analysis showed that servant leadership had a significant effect on strengthening athletes' social identity (β=0.42, p<0.01), while strong social identity was negatively related to levels of depression (r=-0.32), anxiety (r=-0.28), and stress (r=-0.35). These findings reveal that a leadership approach that focuses on individual development and team coaching is effective in improving athletes' mental resilience. Practical implications include: (1) servant leadership training program for coaches, (2) group identity strengthening intervention through team-building, and (3) development of a digital-based mental health monitoring system. This study provides an important contribution to the development of a mental health support model for athletes that integrates aspects of leadership and social dynamics.
Maximizing the role of coaches in implementing social values in team sports Eko Purnomo, Nina Jermaina, Agus Gumilar, Mutiara Felicita Amsal, Andri Gemaini, et al. Retos, 2025 ntroduction: The coach is critical to the success of the training program and serves as the driving force to steer the team in the direction they want. Therefore, coaches are very vital and must understand players, program creation and also program implementation in the field. The program designed by the coach should not only prioritize and improve sports skills. Coaches must also instill values that can uphold the sportsmanship of each individual or team. Objective: This research aims to find out whether the role of coaches in implementing social values in the sport of football is a key to success and whether there is a difference in increasing social values in football athletes. Methodology: This research uses a pretest-posttest Control design. These research groups consisted of a treatment group (intentionally structuring football) and a control group (non-intentionally structuring football) with 30 people in each group and were taken using the purposive sampling method. Results: The results of this research state that the hypothesis calculation using the paired samples t-test is <0.01, indicating that there are significant results regarding the results of social values in intentionally structuring and non-intentionally structuring football athletes. Conclusion: According to this study, trainers’ role in incorporating social values into training programs is critical to the effectiveness of promoting social values. The social benefits obtained by athletes are not simply obtained naturally (naturally/automatically) but must also be programmed, implemented and evaluated by the coach.
Bridging the gap: psychological foundations of coach communication in grassroots football in Indonesia and Malaysia Amin Akbar, Zulakbal Abd Karim, Fuccy Utamy Syafitri, Eko Purnomo, Firunika Intan Cahyani Retos, 2025 Introduction: The harmonious relationship between coaches and players also determines the development of young football players and their long-term success in football. This relationship creates positive emotions such as interest, joy, and enthusiasm in football training. By building positive communication, coaches and players can implement proactive strategies, such as clarifying expectations. Objective: This study aims to explore the effects of grassroots-level coach communication skills on grassroots-level football players' interest and engagement in Indonesia and Malaysia Methodology: This study used a qualitative method with a grounded theory approach. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and document analysis of 25 licensed football coaches with at least 5 years of experience in Indonesia and Malaysia. Results: This study found that being a grassroots-level coach differs from being a professional football coach. Coaches need to provide communication that is easy for children to understand to attract children's interest and involvement in football. Using football terms by modifying sentences in training will increase happiness, which causes children to want to continue training. Discussion: Early-age football coaching generally highlights coaches' dilemmas in facing various challenges, including adapting to understanding early-age development. Coaches need to simplify general football terms so grassroots football players can easily understand them. Conclusions: In addition to a professional license in football coaching, a special license is also required to become a grassroots football coach because specific communication skills are required for grassroots-level coaches in Indonesia and Malaysia.
