Resolving Medical Disputes: Lessons from U.S. Arbitration for Indonesia’s Legal Framework Muhammad Fakih, Rudi Natamiharja, Isroni Muhammad Miraj Mirza, Andre Arya Pratama, Rasmi Zakiah Oktarlina Hasanuddin Law Review, 2025 Arbitration serves as a dispute resolution method that offers notable benefits, especially in cases related to medical issues. In contrast, other methods such as litigation are often seen as less effective, while mediation lacks executory power due to the absence of legal enforceability, making agreements vulnerable to cancellation. In Indonesia, arbitration has not yet been adopted for resolving medical disputes, as specific technical regulations are still needed to guide relevant institutions and establish effective mechanisms. This research highlights the importance of implementing arbitration in Indonesia’s medical dispute resolution framework, using a comparative analysis of practices in the United States. Employing normative legal research with qualitative data analysis and comparative examination of international legal practices, the findings reveal that arbitration offers a binding and final resolution, making it a highly effective approach for handling medical disputes. To facilitate its adoption in Indonesia, comprehensive technical regulations and a legal framework—similar to the United States’ Uniform Arbitration Act (UAA), which outlines arbitration requirements for individual states—are necessary.
Production and Characterization of Micro-Collagen from Carp Scales Waste (Cyprinus carpio) Rasmi Zakiah Oktarlina, Syaiful Bahri, Andi Nafisah Tendri Adjeng Research Journal of Pharmacy and Technology, 2022 Carp (Cyprinus carpio) has the potential which is not only consumed from flesh as an edible portion but it is also able to be utilized from waste. One of waste is the scales of the carp known potentially contain of collagens. Micro-collagen has been extensively applied in various fields which were health and cosmetics. The problem to find the supply of collagens from non-halal animal sources and prone to infectious diseases is the fundamental consideration of this research to be undertaken in order to discover alternative sources of them. It was aimed at production and characterization of micro-collagen by utilizing carp scales waste. The stages of the proximate test, deproteinization, extraction, analysis, and characterization were series of processes to acquire collagen. The extraction results found that the yield of collagen extracted from carp scales waste was 8.62% with a yellowish-white color. Physical characterization of collagen obtained was pH of 6.59. The maximum of UV absorption at a wave length of 268nm was originated from the structure of collagen fibrils with amide bonds of A, B, I, II, and III. Furthermore, the characterization of micro-collagen showed a particle size distribution from the smallest particles which was 668 – 1581nm with the highest intensity at a particle size of 1146 nm according to PSA analysis and corresponding with the morphology of micro-collagen through visualization using SEM. It indicates that the carp scales waste have the potential to be used as an alternative source to find supply micro-collagen.
Differences of Self-Medication-Related Behavior among Medical Students before and during the COVID-19 Pandemic Rasmi Zakiah Oktarlina, Laurensius Amedeo Sitindaon, Efriyan Imantika, Liana Sidharti Wseas Transactions on Environment and Development, 2022 The COVID-19 pandemic has turned into a global public health emergency, followed by several changes in the situation. Change is occurring in healthcare where doctors are reducing hours of practice and people are anxious about coming into contact with infected patients or contaminated objects in healthcare. Medical students are one of the most frequently used self-medication practitioners. This study examines whether there are differences in behavior related to self-medication before and during the COVID-19 pandemic. This research is a comparative descriptive study with a cross sectional research design. This study took a population of students from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Lampung. Samples were taken using a non-probability sampling technique, in the form of consecutive sampling. This study compared self-medication behaviors before and during the COVID-19 pandemic. There were six self-medication-related behaviors that were compared in this study using frequency comparison tables and charts. There is a difference in the average self-medication behavior, from 3.00 before the COVID-19 pandemic, to 3.48 during the COVID-19 pandemic. There are several behaviors related to self-medication that were carried out for the first time during the COVID-19 pandemic, which were not previously carried out. There are various reasons for refraining from visiting the doctor when exposed to health problems before and during the pandemic, namely the emergence of reasons for fear of visiting clinics or homes because they could come in contact with infected patients or contaminated objects during the COVID-19 pandemic. There are differences in behavior related to self-medication before and during the COVID-19 pandemic by students of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Lampung.
E-prescribing: Benefit, barrier, and adopting challenge in electronic prescribing Rasmi Zakiah Oktarlina Journal of Medicine Bangladesh, 2020 E-Prescribing system provides prescribing drugs electronically that can be a stand-alone system or be integrated with Electronic Health Records (EHRs) system. When implementing an E-Prescribing system, we need to consider it’s benefits and barriers, also adopting factors that can affect the success of the implementation. The main advantage of using an E-Prescribing system is to increase patient safety, meanwhile, the biggest barriers and challenges are it’s cost-related and adaptation by health facilities and related health workers. This article review provides information about E-prescribing and it’s elements to help for a better understanding of the system and to give some insights before adopting the e-prescribing system.

Risk Factors for Malaria in Pregnant Women Sutarto Sutarto, Dyah Wulan S.R. Wardani, Rasmi Zakiah Oktarlina, Sri Aryanti, Reni Indriyani Kemas, 2019 Malaria is a major worldwide contagious disease, including Indonesia, and is an important public health issue. Prevalence of malaria among pregnant women and its risk factors in Pesawaran, Lampung Province are currently unknown. This study was a cross-sectional study using rapid survey method. Data was analyzed with chi square and logistic regression. Malaria prevalence was 47.6 per mile, spread over 5 out of 11 sub-districts. One important information was the discovery of pregnant women with malaria in non-endemic districts. The result of bivariate analysis proved a relationship between knowledge and malaria with p-value 0.007 and Odds Ratio (OR) 10. Maternal behavior had p-value of 0.009, OR 9, while usage of mosquito nets had p-value of 0.01, OR 5. The multivariate analysis model formula found was Y (pregnant woman with malaria) = -7.546 + 2.353 (knowledge) + 2.270 (usage of mosquito net) + 2.250 (house condition), and pregnant woman probability of malaria 33.9%. Prevention efforts should be done through strengthening of integrated maternal class groups into malaria programs in all areas.
