Prediction of stator slot size variation in industrial drives using GMR sensor signal and regression technique Krishnan Selvaraj, Anish Kumar Jeyakumar, Senthil Rama Rajamarthandan, Magadevi Nirmalkumar, Sengottaian Subramaniam, Sasi Kumar Murugesan International Journal of Emerging Electric Power Systems, 2025 Stator Slot Size Variation (SSSV) in the induction motor occurs due to magnetic stress,a force caused by stretching the magnetic flux lines across the surface of a conducting material. This is a serious issue that affects the performance of induction motors. The amount of magnetic stress produced is proportional to the average SSSV measured in the stator. Induction motor faults such as stator winding faults, rotor winding faults, voltage unbalance, phase reversal and overload are the causes of high magnetic stress. Variation in the stator slot causes greater leakage flux, which subsequently decreases the performance, and the harmonic level is increased in the induction motor. In this proposed work, multimodal sensors are used to acquire the flux, vibration, temperature and current from the induction motor. The multimodal sensor signals obtained from the induction motor is analysed using Hilbert-Huang Transform (HHT) to calculate Energy Band Values (EBV).The Microscopic Camera Images (MCI) values and the calculated EBV are used to predict the SSSV using Decision Tree Regression (DTR) algorithm. According to experimental findings, a stator slot that deviates more than 0.1 % from its typical size causes a large magnetic stress. Early prediction of high magnetic stress and faults in an induction motor may lead to avoid unnecessary motor faults by measuring SSSV. The efficiency of the proposed method for predicting SSSV in induction is about 95.8 %.
Prediction of Stator Faults in Motor Using Discrete Wavelet Transform and Elastic Net Regression Through Sensor Signals Shobana S, Amala Dhaya, Adlin Arul A, Sasi Kumar Murugesan, Sengottaian S, Mohammed Ali S Proceedings of the 2025 11th International Conference on Communication and Signal Processing Iccsp 2025, 2025 Thermal imbalance-caused stator failures in motors lead to curving or stretching of magnetic flux, which subjected magnetic stress to the stator laminated surface. Such stress can damage the stator, reduce efficiency, and lead to harmonics as it is directly proportional to variations in slot size. Magnetic stress is a major issue that is commonly overlooked by traditional motor defect diagnosis methods. This study introduces a method to predict Stator Faults (SF) during motor operation using Elastic Net Regression (ENR). SF is estimated based on mean and median values from multimodal sensor signals including temperature and Giant Magneto Resistance (GMR) processed through Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT). Stator slot sizes are also analysed using microscope images. Experimental results reveal that slot size exceeding 20% of the standard size causes significant and stator damage, with the prediction method achieving approximately 93.9% accuracy.
Enhanced MPPT for Solar Systems Using Chaotic PSO and DC-DC Luo Converter D. Karthikeyan, Anish John Paul M, K. Rajesh, Subharathna N, T. Jayakumar, M. Sasikumar International Conference on Smart Systems for Applications in Electrical Sciences Icsses 2025, 2025 This study describes an enhanced PV grid tied system featuring PSO based MPPT controller and PI controller for efficient power conversion and grid support. A Luo converter regulates DC voltage, while a single phase VSI connects to grid. The PSO based MPPT optimizes the Luo converter's duty cycle for maximum power extraction, and the PI controller stabilizes power flow by managing active and reactive power. The proposed system demonstrates superior dynamic response and adaptability to changing environmental conditions, enabling efficient energy utilization and reliable grid integration. The Matlab/Simulink program is utilized to acquire the simulation results, which are then used to evaluate the circuit's efficacy. Simulation results highlight the performance improvements in power extraction and grid stability compared to traditional MPPT methods. When the controllers are compared, the THD value of the intended task is 1.58%, and the efficiency achieved with the Luo converter is 93.5%.

Sasi Kumar International Journal of Power Electronics and Drive Systems, 2024 The bi-directional direct current to direct current (DC-DC) converter plays a crucial role in applications involving photovoltaic (PV)-based micro grids. These PV-based hybrid systems have become imperative to ensure uninterrupted power supply and meet local power demands. Selecting the right controller for this converter presents a significant challenge. Traditional proportional integral derivative (PID) controllers yield suboptimal efficiency due to their high delay and settling times. This issue can be overcome by implementing a PID controller based on genetic algorithms (GA). An interconnected grid system is employed to regulate the DC connection voltage across various load conditions, with PV serving as the means to sustain electricity generation. Numerous operational modes tailored to demand are explored, and control techniques are used to maintain the desired DC link voltage level, ultimately enhancing the efficiency of both the PV system and the bidirectional converter in on-grid configurations.

Advanced DC-DC Bidirectional Converter with Three Ports for Use in Vehicle-to-Grid Applications P Jeevananthan, R Kaviya, R Sanjay, M Sasikumar, V Sridharan 2nd IEEE International Conference on Iot Communication and Automation Technology Icicat 2024, 2024 The goal of the project is to create a sophisticated three- port bidirectional DC-DC converter for use in vehicle-to-grid (V2G) systems by combining solar and wind energy with electric vehicles, the converter allows power to go in both directions between EV batteries and the grid as well as renewable energy sources. With the use of advanced control algorithms, it maximizes energy exchange, EV charging and discharging, and grid stability. The converter aims to transform V2G with its clever energy-sharing strategy combining solar, wind, and battery storage, technology, increasing sustainable transportation, strengthening grid resilience, and speeding up the incorporation of renewable energy. The utilization of single-stage topology in three-phase Z-source inverters has made them a viable option for voltage boosting. Furthermore, because they can function as rectifiers in both directions, they are very well suited for a wide range of transportation electrification applications, including Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) chargers. Multiport converters, bidirectional buck-boost converters for voltage regulation, hybrid energy storage systems combining batteries and ultracapacitors, advanced digital control algorithms, virtual synchronous generators (VSGs) for grid stability, resonant converters for high- frequency power conversion, and soft-switching techniques to minimize losses are some of the existing methods for bidirectional DC-DC converters in Vehicle to-Grid (V2G) applications. By maximizing power flow between EVs, solar, wind, and the grid, these solutions enable effective energy integration and exchange. The suggested system includes a bidirectional DC-powered advanced three-port.
