Maria do Carmo Rebouças dos Santos is a Brazilian jurist with over 25 years of consolidated professional and academic experience in the fields of human rights, racial justice, and sustainable development. She is a Professor of Law at the Federal University of Southern Bahia (UFSB) and holds a Ph.D. in Development, Society, and International Cooperation from the University of Brasília.
She coordinates the ODS 18 Observatory – Ethnic-Racial Equality and is a member of the National Commission on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Brazil. Her career includes key positions in international organizations, such as the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (OAS), where she was the first attorney for the Rapporteurship on the Rights of People of African Descent, and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), where she served as Programme Officer for justice and public security, with a focus on race and gender.
