The Role of Peer Influence Through Social Networks on Investment Decisions G. Manjunatha, Priscilla Nancy S., Hruthik Nayaka L., Gopalakrishnan Soundararajan Generative AI Insights for Financial Decision Making, 2025 This study explores how peer influence within social networks impacts investment decisions, using data from 75 active investors via a standardized questionnaire on demographics, peer influence, and investment outcomes. Using SPSS and multiple regression, results showed that peer influence significantly predicted 58.6% of the variance in investing behavior (R2 = 0.586; R = 0.766; p < 0.05). Younger investors under 30, particularly active in online forums, were more susceptible to social pressure. Direct peer recommendations had a stronger effect than general exposure to financial discussions, highlighting the role of social validation. While peer impact is significant, factors like risk tolerance, financial literacy, and economic conditions also shape investment behavior. The study urges a balance between peer insights and objective analysis. These findings can inform financial education and policymaking to promote independent, informed decisions, especially as digital platforms reshape investment landscapes.
