His research areas are Development of Electrochemical Sensor for some neurotransmitters, Biosensors, Nanosensors and Nanochemistry. He has published more than 332 research papers in peer-reviewed journals of having h index 48with citations more than 8500. Electrochemical detection of melatonin using Gd-doped ZnO nanoparticles modified carbon paste electrode Mamata Prabhugaonkar, Jyothi H. Kini, Bahaddurghatta Eshwaraswamy Kumar Swamy, Lamabani Shivlanaik Manjunatha Journal of Electrochemical Science and Engineering, 2026 In this work, we report the synthesis of gadolinium-doped ZnO nanoparticles (GZ Nps) with varying dopant concentrations (2, 5 and 10 % GZ Nps) to detect melatonin (MEL) through the fabrication of the modified carbon paste electrode (MCPE). Additionally, these Nps are examined for biomedical research and as a photocatalyst for the degradation of Rhodamine B dye. The study is focused on synthesizing GZ Nps using a sustainable green approach incorporating phytochemicals sourced from Tabernaemontana divaricata (T. divaricata) in the simple, economical and environmentally friendly co-precipitation method. Further, the analysis of as-synthesized GZ Nps by X-ray powder diffraction, field emission scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy analysis confirmed spherical morphology and better crystallinity with lesser agglomeration when the dopant ion concentration was increased. GZ Nps served as an effective photocatalyst for the degradation of Rhodamine B dye, achieving maximum degradation efficiency of 96.70 % for 2 % GZ sample. Furthermore, the antibacterial activity was tested using inhibitory zone radius measurements. In electrochemical studies using cyclic voltammetry and differential pulse voltammetry techniques, it was found that 5%GZ Nps, utilized to fabricate a GZ Nps modified carbon paste electrode (GZ/MCPE), showed excellent sensitivity for MEL alone and for the simultaneous detection of ciprofloxacin and MEL. By changing MEL concentrations, the limit of detection of MEL was determined to be 7.95 µM.
Electrochemical Monitoring of Synthetic Dyes in Water Using Modified Electrodes With Perovskite Oxides Integrated Halloysite Nanotubes Composites Perumal Murugesan, Rajeshwari Yemmi, B. E. Kumara Swamy, Mani Govindasamy, Mohamed A. Habila Small, 2026 In this study, a simple ultra‐irradiation technique was employed to synthesize perovskite metal titanates (MTiO 3 , where M = Sr, Zn, and Fe) for the electrochemical detection of synthetic dyes Indigo Carmine (IC), Sunset Yellow (SY), and Tartrazine (TRZ). The synthesized nanomaterials were integrated with Halloysite Nanotubes (HNTs) and used to modify screen‐printed carbon electrodes (SPCEs). XRD and HR‐SEM analyses confirmed distinct morphologies: pebble‐like SrTiO 3 , hexagonal ZnTiO 3 , and flake‐like FeTiO 3 . Sensor performance was evaluated using cyclic voltammetry (CV), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), and differential pulse voltammetry (DPV). Among the composites, FeTiO 3 /HNTs/SPCE exhibited superior sensitivity and selectivity toward all three dyes. The sensor demonstrated a wide linear detection range (0.03–1350 µM) with low detection limits of 0.0011 µM (IC), 0.0205 µM (SY), and 0.0033 µM (TRZ). Real sample analysis in Industrial wastewater and pond water confirmed the sensor's practical applicability, highlighting its potential for environmental safety monitoring.
A Hybrid Zr-MOF/CNT/Nanocellulose Electrochemical Sensor for Dual Detection of Furazolidone and Chloramphenicol in Food Samples Abhishek K. J. , Sathish Reddy, B. E. Muralidhara ACS Applied Nano Materials, 2025 The misuse of antibiotics such as furazolidone (FZ) and chloramphenicol (CP) in the food industry poses serious health risks, highlighting the need for rapid and sensitive detection strategies. Here, we report a hybrid nanocomposite electrode composed of zirconium-based metal–organic frameworks (Zr-MOFs), carbon nanotubes (CNTs), and nanocellulose for the simultaneous electrochemical detection of CP and FZ. In this design, Zr-MOF provides abundant electroactive sites, CNTs enhance conductivity, and nanocellulose improves analyte adsorption through its rich surface functionalities. The synergistic integration enables independent and distinguishable redox responses for CP and FZ, allowing reliable dual-analyte monitoring. Optimization of the composite via component ratio and sonication temperature resulted in superior electrocatalytic performance. The Zr-MOF/CNT/nanocellulose sensor achieved ultralow detection limits of 3.4 nM (CP) and 8.2 nM (FZ), with excellent sensitivity, reproducibility, and stability. Furthermore, successful recovery studies in real food matrices, including milk, honey, and pharmaceutical tablets, demonstrates its practical applicability. This work introduces a multifunctional hybrid sensing platform that advances electrochemical monitoring of antibiotic residues for food safety applications.
