  • Reinforcement learning-based topology optimization for generative designed lightweight structures
    Keerthi Kumar N, Manasa C M, Pavan Kumar B K, Manish Bali
    Methodsx, 2025
This study presents an AI-driven generative design framework for creating lightweight, manufacturable mechanical structures. It integrates topology optimization with deep reinforcement learning, specifically the Proximal Policy Optimization (PPO) algorithm, to learn optimal material layouts within a defined design space. The model adheres to strict engineering constraints, including Von Mises stress (≤ 300 MPa) and displacement (≤ 0.5 mm), ensuring structural reliability. Physics-informed learning is enabled through Finite Element Analysis (FEA), enhancing the model's decision-making during training. To improve manufacturability, the framework applies Signed Distance Field (SDF) smoothing and generates STL files suitable for direct 3D printing. Tested on the Topology Optimization Dataset (ToD), the method outperforms conventional approaches like SIMP and level-set techniques, achieving up to 40 % weight reduction while maintaining compliance. A practical case study involving a lightweight wheel hub further validates its real-world applicability. Comprehensive evaluations, including ablation studies and inference-time analysis, demonstrate the method's adaptability, constraint satisfaction, and rapid design-to-prototype transition across engineering domains. Methodology summary includes:•AI-based generative design with PPO under mechanical constraints.•Physics-informed training with FEA and SDF-based STL output.•Evaluated on ToD and validated through a wheel hub case study.
  • Vibration Characteristics in Ball Bearing due to Unbalanced Mass
    K. Lokesha, P. B. Nagaraj, G. Kodeeswara Kumaran, N. Keerthi Kumar
Journal of Mines Metals and Fuels, 2025
Bearings are the critical element in an equipment, where rotary motions are mandate to full fill its operation. Condition at which the bearing fails to contribute its purpose, leads to system breakdown and hence a major setback in successful operation of the equipment. Monitoring and maintaining the continuous and uninterrupted operational condition of the bearing in a rotary system becomes primary task. Diagnosing and preventing the unexpected failure of bearing is a prime goal of the industrial personnel, for which they must have the information of the present working condition of the bearing. There are several ways to gauge the present working condition of the bearing, like knowing the vibrations, temperature and noise at the bearing, during its operation. In context with this, an experimental study is designed to simulate the actual shop floor condition to obtain the bearing vibration characteristics, influenced by the predefined parameters such as speed, mass and angular orientation of the mass with respect to shaft axis. The experimental study could be able to yield the bearing characteristic, operated under the combination of these parameters. The study supports the decision-making process in bearing failure analysis through vibration characteristics. Major Findings: The investigation is engrossed on finding the vibrational behavior of the ball bearing, subjected to combinations of speed, counter mass and angular position of the counter mass. The study enlightens on the supremacy of axial and tangential accelerations due to counter mass and its angular location from the shaft axis.
  • Development of Sustainable Okra Fiber-Nano-SiO₂-reinforced Epoxy Composites: Mechanical Characterization and Machine Learning-based Prediction
    N. A. Prashanth, Keerthi Kumar N
    Journal of Environmental Nanotechnology, 2025
The transformation to environmentally friendly components in composite production is essential to minimize the environmental impact and expenditures. Substituting natural fibers, especially those from plants like okra, for conventional reinforcing elements in polymer composites makes them eco-friendlier and more cost-effective. This study aims to characterize and produce polymer composites reinforced with nano-SiO2 filler and chemically-treated okra fibers. Okra fibers, derived from the okra plant, stand out due to their accessibility, mechanical qualities, and positive impact on the environment. Physical and mechanical properties of composites, such as water absorption, tensile strength, and flexural strength, are studied concerning weight percentage, length, thickness, and nano-SiO2 content. Composites with fibers of 12 mm length, 2 mm thickness, and 8 wt.% nano-SiO2 arrangement have shown excellent performance. These composites have a flexural strength of 55.65 MPa and an ultimate tensile strength of 35.92 MPa, which enhances the structural integrity and longevity of the composites. Increasing the fiber weight percentage results in higher water absorption rates, reaching a peak of 3.26%, which highlights the significant impact of fiber dimensions. In addition, when comparing the performance of Response Surface Methodology (RSM) and Feed-Forward Artificial Neural Network (FFANN), predictive modeling using RSM yielded an average accuracy of 85–90%, whereas FFANN achieved 95–98%. Finally, the experimental results were validated through microstructural studies, which underscored the potential of okra fibers to enhance the performance of natural fiber-reinforced composites in various industrial applications.

Geometrical Enhancements Based on Data Driven Design Decisions, 2025
Rotating machines are commonly employed in a wide range of industrial applications. Motors plays a crucial role in industry which directly leads to profit and loss of the company. To minimize failures, boost dependability, and reduce maintenance costs, condition-based maintenance must be implemented for spinning machinery. The frequency data is primarily collected from rotating machines using vibrometers, and the obtained spectrums are analyzed using MATLAB for validation. Henceforth, in this chapter, optimum solution by framework predictive maintenance using neural network approach that focus on accuracy above 99% shows the enhancement of life in machines.

Proceedings of 9th International Conference on Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics the Role of Emerging Technologies in Digital Transformation Iconstem 2024, 2024
This research focuses on the primary aspects that influence the usage of renewable energy sources in microgrids. These aspects include energy demand, the amount of solar irradiation, and the capacity of the batteries. In addition to this, it exemplifies the relevance of these factors and the dynamic relationship between them in the operation of microgrid systems. A number of factors must be considered during the design and implementation of micro grids, as this study shows that renewable energy sources have a major impact on them. The paper highlights the benefits of microgrids, which include lower energy costs, increased energy autonomy, and fewer emissions of greenhouse gases. The findings of this research have the potential to make a contribution toward the overall goal of constructing a resilient and flexible energy infrastructure. This might be accomplished with the help of the findings of this study. This may be done by optimizing the construction of micro grids that display higher performance and effectiveness in capturing renewable energy resources using the insights gathered from the inquiry. These micro grids would be optimized to use the information gained from the investigation.

Proceedings of 9th International Conference on Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics the Role of Emerging Technologies in Digital Transformation Iconstem 2024, 2024
In order to improve customer service and boost sales, this paper describes the creation of an ecommerce sales chatbot. In order to grasp natural language, the system employs machine learning. It is based on a chatbot that is modular. Framework. There are several parts to the system. A web-based framework for natural language teaching comes first. Chat bots are employed in a variety of industries, including e-commerce, healthcare, and education. The objective of this venture is to make Hebron, an online chatbot for the Contract College People group Shopping center. Python and Respond are both utilized in the chatbot's creation. Conventional customer service chatbots frequently copy human discussion, yet they have serious protection and data adaptability issues. Here, we present SuperAgent, a customer support chatbot that utilizes broad and promptly open internet business data.
