  • Towards reliable primary data collection and harmonized set of indicators in S-LCA on the stakeholder worker
Arij Mohamad Radwan Omar Chabrawi, Josemberg Moura de Andrade, Cássia Maria Lie Ugaya, Marzia Traverso
International Journal of Life Cycle Assessment, 2025
Introduction S-LCA has emerged within sustainability assessment in the last 20 years, aiming at assessing the social impacts of products and services. Several improvements on the methodological and theoretical backgrounds were reported in the literature, since its early beginning. However, there are still some gaps that must be filled: lack of consensus on the indicators, methodological limitations, and hegemony of secondary data, among others. Therefore, this research aimed to benefit from one area related to social sciences, named as psychometrics, to develop 14 questionnaires (scales) to collect primary data regarding all worker’s impact subcategories. Method In general terms, the methodological steps were as follows: (1) literature review of the impact subcategories; (2) definition of the constitutive and operational definitions; (3) run focus groups with workers from different economic sectors and positions to deep understand their reality; (4) creating scales’ items; (5) run semantics analysis; (6) run specialists’ analyses; (7) pilot and final application of the scales; and (8) run exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). Results and discussion Five different focus groups were run to better understand each subcategory, and 14 semantics analyses to check the understanding of the scales’ items. Five different groups comprised of four different experts on S-LCA assessed the items’ content. Kappa’s Fleiss indicated from moderate to almost perfect agreement. The scales were applied in two rounds. On the first, EFA was run pointing out to factor retention solution identical or close to the literature review. CFA confirmed the models proposed with adequate adjustment indices. The analyses have shown that all 14 scales indicated to have evidence of content validity and validity based on the internal structure. The reliability coefficients relating to the indicators appointed to a high precision on the measurement. Conclusions This study contributes to overcoming some of the current theoretical and methodological gaps in S-LCA. Practitioners can benefit from 14 scales to collect primary data regarding worker in a reliable, scientific, and confidential way. Data can be used in both types of impact assessment methods. The scales may also support other research initiatives that aim at studying and improving working conditions for all workers, from any economic sector.
  • Over-Indebtedness Protection and Risk Scale: Construction andValidity Evidence
Ana Cláudia Almeida Machado, Eliane Maria Fleury Seidl, Josemberg Moura de Andrade
    Psicologia Teoria E Pesquisa, 2024

    Psicologia Reflexao E Critica, 2023
Health literacy (HL) refers to knowledge, motivation and skills to understand, evaluate and apply health information, enabling appropriate decision making in daily life on health care and health promotion. Studies show that HL is associated with several social determinants, health outcomes, and health promotion. In Brazil, studies on the thematic are still scarce. Thus, the present study aimed to adapt, seek evidence of validity, reliability and estimate the parameters of the items of the European Health Literacy Survey Questionnaire Short Form (HLS-Q12) for the Brazilian context. 770 individuals participated, recruited through advertisements in the media and social networks, 82.1% female, aged between 18 and 83 (M = 35.5, SD = 13.52), from 21 Federative Units of Brazil and the Federal District. The subjects answered the HLS-Q12 and a sociodemographic questionnaire. Exploratory factor analysis indicated a unifactorial structure with good psychometric characteristics (GFI = 0.98; CFI = 0.98; RMSEA = 0.08; RMSR = 0.07). Cronbach's alpha, Guttman's lambda 2 and McDonald’s omega reliability indicators were equal to 0.87. We conclude that the HLS-Q12 is an adequate instrument to assess the level of HL in the Brazilian population.

    Interacao Em Psicologia, 2023
  • Bridging the Gaps in Social Life Cycle Assessment: Theoretical and Practical Contributions
Arij Mohamad Radwan Omar Chabrawi, Josemberg Moura de Andrade, Marzia Traverzo, Cássia Maria Lie Ugaya
    Psicologia Teoria E Pesquisa, 2023
Sustainable development is based on three pillars: environment preservation, cost-effective production and human development. Within this context, emerges Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), a solid methodology for assessing the impact of products and services. Whereas Social LCA (S-LCA) is an early-stage approach, currently under development, requiring theoretical and methodological improvements. This study aimed at mapping the main gaps in S-LCA to identify potential contributions from the Psychology field. A preliminary literature review indicated several constraints: consensus between social indicators; methods for measuring subjective data; predominance of secondary data; underutilization of the Social Sciences, etc. Therefore, this study outlines multiples intersection points where the Social Sciences, more specifically, psychology could contribute to filling some of the theoretical and methodological gaps in S-LCA.

Carmen Amorim-Gaudêncio, Josemberg Moura de Andrade, Germano Gabriel Lima Esteves, Gustavo Roquete de Oliveira, Eronyce Rayka de Oliveira Carvalho, et al.
    Psico Usf, 2023
Our aim was to understand to what extent the characteristics of psychopathy are correlated with personality traits and human values in a sample of imprisoned inmates. To this end, a total of 56 prisoners were evaluated, predominantly female (80.4%) with a mean age of 33.44 (SD=7.15). The following instruments were employed: (1) Hare scale, (2) Human Values Questionnaire (BVQ), (3) Big Five Personality Traits Inventory (BFI-S) and (4) Demographic Questionnaire. Descriptive statistics and Spearman’s rank correlation coefficient were applied. The results indicated a positive correlation between a socially deviant/antisocial lifestyle (Factor 2) and the dimensions of neuroticism (r s =0.44; p<0.001), openness to experience in the BFI-S (r s =0.26; p<0.05) and experimentation in the BVQ (r s =0.36; p<0.001). It was concluded that the present study contributes to an understanding of personality traits and values related to psychopathy, expanding the nomological network of this construct.

Maynara Priscila Pereira da Silva, Evandro Morais Peixoto, Daniela Sacramento Zanini, Josemberg Moura de Andrade
    Paideia, 2022
Stress mindset is defined as the belief that stress can lead to enriching or debilitating consequences in different spheres of life. The present research aimed to estimate new validity evidences based on the internal structure, using acquiescence control methods for the Stress Mindset Scale. A sample of 2,121 participants (77.7% female) responded to the Stress Mindset, Life satisfaction, Positive and Negative affects Scales. Confirmatory factor analysis with random intercept suggested adequacy of the one-dimensional structure (CFI = 0.993; TLI = 0.990; RMSEA = 0.039), and a good level of reliability ω= 0.85. The multigroup factor analysis showed invariance of the model as a function of the origin of the respondents considering the different geographic regions of the country. The results demonstrate the adequacy of the Brazilian version of the instrument and the importance of controlling acquiescence in estimating the internal structure.
