AFOLU & Food Systems
Research Fellow

My scientific career has focused on the sustainability assessment of agrifood systems with a multicriteria perspective. I have wide experience in the holistic analysis of farming systems, using economic, social and environmental indicators to provide a comprehensive understanding of the primary sector through a systematic vision. I have worked with special emphasis on exploring synergies and trade-offs among the different impacts of agrifood systems, paying particular attention to livestock systems through different approaches (sustainability frameworks, LCA, One Health perspective, participatory processes, policy analysis, etc…).
I am particularly interested in exploring the interactions amount different indicators and their implications in different socioeconomic and territorial contexts to identify transition pathways. To achieve this, it is essential to consider both the supply and demand sides as an integrated whole, focusing on agriculture practices as well as consumption pattern

EDUCATION

She obtained her PhD in 2015 from the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU), Spain, with distinction. Her doctoral research focused on the opportunities and challenges of sheep milk production systems towards sustainability, analysing environmental, economic and social dimensions of livestock systems.

In 2011, she completed a Master’s Degree in Rural Development at the University of Córdoba (UCO), Spain. Her Master’s thesis examined the role of Protected Designations of Origin (PDOs) as tools for sustainable rural development, with a case study on the PDO “Cereza del Valle del Jerte” within localized agri-food systems.

She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural Engineering (2009) from the University of Extremadura (UNEX), Spain.
