Raja Gunasekaran, Ragavi Boopathi, Gobinath Velu Kaliyannan, Dinesh Dhanabalan, Kesavan Duraisamy
    Energy Efficient Communication Networks, 2025
The need for efficient spectrum utilization and improved user experience in the dynamic wireless communications environment has led to the demand for CR-NOMA technology. This chapter introduces a new NOMA framework based on CR, which combines cognitive radio flexibility with NOMA spectral efficiency to optimize overall network performance. CR-NOMA optimizes spectrum utilization by accessing underused frequency bands with cognitive radios, while NOMA uses power domain multiplexing to enable multiple signals at the same time and frequency. This integration not only increases spectrum performance but also improves reliability of the system. The proposed network dynamically allocates resources based on real-time conditions, increasing flexibility and performance. This strategy holds promise for an advanced communication system, meeting the requirements of applications such as 5G and IoT, and paving the way for smarter and more efficient communications infrastructure.

Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), a synthetic polymer produced by polymerizing vinyl acetate and subjecting it to alkaline hydrolysis, exhibits properties such as film formation, emulsification, and adhesion. However, pure PVA’s biocompatibility and mechanical properties are limited. Its hydrophilicity also causes it to dissolve in water and blood, rendering it less suitable for drug delivery applications. To address these limitations, PVA was crosslinked with glutaraldehyde (GA) to enhance toughness and resistance to water and blood dissolution. Additionally, carboxyl (COOH) and hydroxyl (OH) functionalized graphene were incorporated into electrospun PVA nanocomposites to further improve their mechanical properties. The results show that adding COOH- and OH-functionalized graphene in four different concentrations (0.5, 1.0, 1.5, and 2.0 wt.%) significantly enhanced the mechanical characteristics of PVA nanocomposites. Tensile strength and Young's modulus increased substantially, with OH-functionalized graphene increasing tensile strength and Young's modulus by 224% and 338.3%, respectively, and COOH-functionalized graphene increasing these properties by 245.6% and 371.4%. Morphological characterization using FT-IR and FESEM confirmed the successful incorporation of graphene into the PVA matrix. Biocompatibility testing through APTT and PT assays showed both nanocomposites are biocompatible, suggesting their potential for biomedical applications. The optimal filler concentration for both graphene types was 1.5 wt.%. This research demonstrates the promising potential of innovative materials for healthcare and biomedical engineering applications.

Natural fillers have received great attention among researchers due their its light weight, high strength, degradability, and eco-friendly behavior. This work is focused on developing a laminate of date palm seed powder and neem gum powder reinforced epoxy resin. Epoxy resin is an excellent thermoset polymer with anoutstanding cost to performance ratio. Date palm seeds have highly competitive properties in improving the mechanical and thermal properties of composites by their good adherence to polymer matrix. Neem gum powder is used as a binder in increasing ratios of 0 %, 10 %, 15 %, 20 %, 25 %, and 30 % to test their strength in different compositions. Date seed powder has been reinforced in decreasing weight percent as 30 %, 25 %, 20 %, 15 %, 10 %, 5 %, and 0 %. The specimens prepared through the compression moulding technique were subjected to various mechanical tests like a tensile test, flexural test, and impact test as per the ASTM standards. Fractography analysis using FESEM (Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy) and FT-IR(Fourier Transform Infrared spectroscopy) test have determined the surface characteristics and chemical composition of the samples. The result shows that, by adding neem gum powder in increasing quantities the mechanical properties like tensile and flexural decreases. However, it does not affect the impact strength of the material. A detailed study of their behavior is discussed in this work.

Journal of Materials Research and Technology, 2024
The present investigation focuses on the microstructural behavior and mechanical properties of Aluminium alloy 2024 reinforced with SiC nanoparticles by applying the Friction Stir Processing (FSP) technique. Taguchi L9 orthogonal array was used to find the optimal process parameters. The experiment used the expected best process parameters, which confirmed the predicted highest value for the mechanical characteristic. Traverse speed, axial load, and rotating speed are the main factors affecting aluminum metal matrix composite. Hence, this experiment examined the effects of five different tool spinning speeds, specifically 800, 900, 1000, 1100, and 1200 rpm. Weld samples are fabricated wherein the stir zone contains SiC nanoparticles. The results of the study indicate that the optimal welding rotational speed of 1000 rpm has a significant impact on the microstructure, wear rate, and microhardness. Specifically, it was observed that the stirred zone exhibited enhanced wear resistance compared to other zones. The study's findings revealed that after implementing friction stir processing (FSP), a well-defined shear zone was observed on the advancing side of the stir zone. Additionally, it is found that the uniform dispersion and strong bonding of SiC particles with an aluminium matrix further enhance wear resistance.

    SAE Technical Papers, 2024
<div class="section abstract"><div class="htmlview paragraph">In the domain of Additive Manufacturing (AM), Fused Filament Fabrication (FFF) hath flourished as a promising method for crafting complex geometric parts with a commendable degree of dimensional precision. The perception of recycling metal scrap particles obtained from machining operations unbound the scope of developing sustainable layered polymer composites with integral properties of metal particles. In this context, the present work is intended to investigate the tensile properties of Polylactic Acid (PLA), strengthened with fine particles of bronze scrap particles as reinforcement fabricated by FFF-based additive manufacturing technique. The composite specimens are manufactured as per ASTM standard with different combinations of build orientation, infill pattern, and no. of reinforcement layers. The orientation angles of 00, 300, and 600 are used for building the composite specimens with honeycomb, rectilinear, and grid infill patterns. 1, 2 and 3 layers of reinforcement stacking is made between PLA matrix while building the tensile specimens. The tensile test findings revealed that the rectilinear build pattern highly influences the tensile strength of the fabricated samples. Compared to pure PLA, the reduced trend of tensile strength is observed on reinforced PLA composites. The outcome of this research effort prompts the exploration of further advancements in enhancing PLA's tensile properties when reinforced with metal scrap particles. Further, this research provoked the development of PLA matrix composites through additive manufacturing techniques with metal scrap particle reinforcement to strengthen the polymer, emphasizing the prominence of achieving a robust interfacial bond between the matrix and the reinforcing phases.</div></div>

  • Enhancement of Polycrystalline Silicon Solar Cell's Efficiency through Electrospinning Coating Using Erbium Oxide
    R. RAJASEKAR, D. DINESH, M. Kowtham, S. Santhosh, C. Moganapriya, K.P. Boopathiraja
    SAE Technical Papers, 2024
<div class="section abstract"><div class="htmlview paragraph">The current research focuses on enhancing the performance of Si solar cells by using Er2O3 (Erbium Oxide) in cubic crystalline nature serves as an anti-reflection coating material. An anti-reflective coating aims to improve the Efficient Power Conversion (EPC) of polycrystalline silicon wafers solar cells (PSSC) utilised in solar roof panels of the automotive sector. It also exhibits superior light transmittance and least light reflectance, which eventually leads to the increase EPC. Erbium oxide helps to convert low energy photons into high energy photons. The incident photons, which lies on the solar cell, gradually losses its energy to travel in a denser medium and dissipate in the form of heat energy. In order to overcome the rate of reflection, current research aims in synthesis of erbium oxide nanosheets using electrospinning deposition technique for varying deposition timings such as 1, 1.5 and 2 hours. The coated solar cells K1, K1.5 and K2 exert coating thickness of 15.94, 20.34 and 23.88 μm respectively. The K1.5 solar cell exhibits greatest optical rate of transmittance (90.12%) and lowest rate of reflection, which is comparatively greater than uncoated samples. The EPC of the sample was observed to be (18.79%) under a controlled environment illuminated by a neodymium radiated lamp. Based on the results and discussions, it is evident that the synthesized Er2O3 helps to control reflection losses, which eventually leads to increase in EPC.</div></div>

    SAE Technical Papers, 2024
<div class="section abstract"><div class="htmlview paragraph">Inconel 718 is a nickel-rich superalloy that can function in cryogenic to high-temperature applications. It has excellent mechanical and corrosion-resistant properties. This research focuses on developing Cu and Cu–alloy–tungsten disulfide (WS2) tools developed through a stir casting route, and the machining behaviour of Inconel 718 alloy in the EDM Process is investigated. The influence of output responses of Removal rate of material (RRM), surface roughness (SR), and tool wear loss rate (TWR) on input constraints pulse time-on, peak discharge current, and type of tool. The optimal parameters are studied with the aid of the Response Surface Methodology (RSM) and Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) combination, in response to maximize and decrease the RRM, TWR, and SR, respectively. It is found that using the Cu-WS2 tool provides an optimum finding with a peak discharge current of 18 Amps, and pulse on time of 8 μs yields the best value for RRM, TWR, and SR. In addition, a three-dimensional contour plot between the tool type and process parameter's input and output values was obtained. Finally, the confirmation test was conducted, and then it was compared with the experimental and expected outcome. The optimal solution's minimum deviation reflects the effectiveness of the optimized model.</div></div>
