Dr. Luis Geraldes-Primeiro is a biologist, university professor, and researcher specializing in aquatic biodiversity, panbiogeography, and the taxonomy of Neotropical microcrustaceans, particularly Amazonian Copepoda. He holds a Ph.D. in Biological Sciences with an emphasis on Aquatic Biology of the Amazon (INPA) and is a Postdoctoral Researcher in Aquatic Biodiversity at the Senckenberg Research Institute (Germany) in collaboration with the International Seabed Authority (ISA), working with integrative taxonomy of deep-sea copepods. As a faculty member at the State University of Roraima (UERR) and science teacher in the public education system, he coordinates scientific initiation projects funded by FAPERR, CNPq, and MCTI, with a focus on gender equity, scientific literacy, sustainability, and pedagogical innovation. Prof. Dr. Luis Geraldes-Primeiro is an educator dedicated to strengthening public education in Roraima, working as a university professor at UERR and as a science teacher in the state basic education system. He coordinates multiple educational projects funded by FAPERR, CNPq, and MCTI, with strong emphasis on gender equity, scientific literacy, sustainability, and hands-on learning. His work integrates innovative pedagogical approaches—such as immersive learning environments, hydroponic and aeroponic school gardens, ecological education, and mobile science laboratories—with the goal of fostering student autonomy, real-world problem solving, and meaningful engagement with environmental and social issues. Committed to inclusive and transformative education, he develops teaching materials, training sessions for teachers, and projects that value local contexts and empower students as emerging leaders and young scientists.
